A Pakistani Conversation A Podcast where we bring the best Pakistan has to offer; leaders, visionaries, and go-getters!

15/09/2020

Our second guest for the Podcast is the admin of a Facebook group 'Inside Institutions' that came into being for the sole purpose of discussing and disclosing concerns in private schools amidst the sexual harassment fiasco at LGS during the summers of 2020.

About our guest!

Hi all, my name is Usman Amjad and I am an Economics and Computer Science student at Bocconi University in Milan. I am one of the administrators of the Facebook forum "Inside Institutions" that sheds light on otherwise unheard concerns of students (both present and alumni) about the culture that spirals around elite institutions in Pakistan. Over the course of the past 2 months, 100's of people have come forward with their horrifying and unfortunate accounts that were one way or the other enabled by the aforementioned institutions.

It is unfortunate that these very schools that market themselves on teaching and instilling values and grooming you for the "harsh" real world are the ones who have allowed for the real world to be harsh in the first place. It is unfortunate that we alumni have to do what these schools are paid hefty amounts for. It is unfortunate that there lies a lack of accountability at the end of these schools.

We can all play a part in putting corrective mechanisms in place, but first and foremost, to identify and acknowledge what we do/have been doing wrong, and be willing to accept change and correct ourselves. Our words hold more power than we realize, it's about time we all become cognizant of how we are shaping the world around us, rather than focusing on how the world is shaping us.

Check out the Inside Institutions Facebook Group which is nearly 14k students, teachers, and supporters strong: https://www.facebook.com/groups/3569250379770211

In our first episode, Wardah tells us the unfortunate incident that happened which compelled her to leave PTI's Youth Wing and what led up to it.
"Not to make it sound clickbait but this was some juicy gossip."

"Log kya kahein ge?"

In our episode for our podcast, we talked all about social pressures and expectation our families and society has over us. However, our guest for the day, Wardah Noor, put forward a very interesting analysis of why she might just like the idea of "log kya kahein get?" and explains us her point of view.

31/08/2020

Feminism, Malala, and an interesting decision on the phrase "log kya kahein ge", Wardah was as charming as ever and we had an amazing time reliving our campus days together at LUMS. She grudgingly admitted how Punjab ki biryani is nothing short of pulao and from all of us who've experienced the true flavours of Biryani, Amen to that sister!

Our first guest is our very close friend, Wardah Noor. Wardah is pursuing her degree in Law from LUMS.A feminist, social worker, and youth activist, Wardah has her Non-profit Organization, 'Future Pakistan Team', which was able to donate more than PKR 250,0000 in her COvid 19 Ration Relief Campaign.

On a more candid note, Wardah is also an avid traveller and has travelled across many cities in Pakistan on her motorcycle!

Conversations are Arham's thing. He might not talk much, but he can sure carry a conversation.

He is one of the handful people who decided to opt for a Sociology & Anthropology Major from LUMS(U) just because he wanted to and no one else wanted him to.

He likes to talk to people who he can have candid, interesting, and deep conversations with about absolutely anything. (He also can't write good personal bios!)
