The Forgotten Library is back, y'all!

In addition to romance, war, and superheroes, there were also a lot of horror, suspense, and mystery comics published in the 1940s/50s. On this episode, we're going to look at a few from Baffling Mysteries, a title published by Ace Comics. We've got animal/human hybrids, murderous paintings, and witches and werewolves . . .of course!

Happy Belated New Year! It's been a long time, I know, so have a slightly longer episode - that's also part 1 of 2. We're discussing Elsie Dinsmore, a priggish, milquetoasty little gal who was the protagonist of a book series spanning 28 volumes over the late 19th and early 20th century. The second....

ANYWAY, I made a promo for the latest episode (number 11 for those of you playing along at home), so, as the kids say, Like and Subscribe! (Please).

New mini-sode is up! I've also included links about how you can help, should you wish to do so.

In this episode of Biblio Bites, we take a look at two major library stories that are blowing up social media and beyond. First, a Michigan woman is facing possible jail time from overdue library fines, and then the Citrus County (Florida) Board of County Commissioners wants to deny library patrons access to the digital New York Times, because it's "fake news."

Hello, my loyal listeners!

My MacMillan ebook mini-sode was well-received, so I am thinking I might do those more often, in between regular episodes, to highlight any noteworthy happenings in the library world (there are actually two ongoing stories right now)!

I wanted to make a poll, but I guess you can't do that on mobile, so . . . Any thoughts?

There's still time to sign the petition! ebooksforall.org (No idea what I'm talking about? MacMillan is going to mess with how you access ebooks at your local library! You can catch up with this news in my less than ten minute mini-sode linked below). Thanks to those of you who already have done so. It might not change MacMillan's mind, but I'm hoping that the others of the Big Five will think twice before they start embargoing books.

Okay, as I said earlier today, there is a change coming for those of you who check out ebooks from the library. MacMillan, one of the Big Five trade publishers, is taking away equitable access for all by placing an embargo on new releases from their catalog. Libraries will only be allowed to order ONE electronic copy, no matter how big or small the library, and are embargoed from more for EIGHT weeks. Think the queues are long now? JUST WAIT. There are things you can do, though. Listen to this minisode (less than ten minutes, told you I'd be quick about it) to find out more about this fracas and what you can do as a patron.

The wait is finally over! The next installment of The Forgotten Library is UP!!
https://anchor.fm/…/…/Episode-8---Valley-of-the-Dolls-e7slco

In this episode, we are looking at Valley of the Dolls, a fictionalized account of the glitz and glamour of Hollywood heydays, and the people broken down by the strain. It's a pill-popping, booze-chugging, sexist extravaganza!

Take a listen, won't you?

Welcome to the official update page/fan site for the Forgotten Library! If you haven't already, take a listen to the most recent episode, on Turmoil in the Toybox, a book that could only come out of the 1980s Satanic Panic. https://anchor.fm/forgottenlibrary/episodes/Episode-7---Turmoil-in-the-Toybox-e59pm5/a-ammpup

If you were a child of the 80s, you likely played with He-Man, She-Ra, GI Joe, Smurfs, and so on. We had SO much fun, didn't we? But did you know that those toys were actually full of Satanic influences, and that your adult mind is probably warped? Phil Phillips, an evangelist operating at the heigh...
