RELAXATION IN UPND MAY COST THE PARTY IN THE NEXT GENERAL ELECTIONS - COUVARAS
A senior member of the ruling UPND in Southern Province, Mike Couvaras says relaxation among members in mobilising the party after forming government may cost ruling party in the next general election if the trend continues.

Mr. Couvaras says the UPND leadership and all members must not continue being in the honeymoon after last year’s victory but instead must be proactive in mobilizing and strengthening party structures especially at the grass root.

He tells Chikuni Radio News that it is it wrong for party leadership and members to be comfortable and relax forgetting that soon in 2026 there will be a general election in the country.

He says for the party in government to continue growing and ruling it is important to have strong structures at the grassroots but this is not the case with the UPND.

Mr. Couvaras challenges the leaders at both national and provincial level to be in touch with party structures at the grassroots to have the real picture of how strong the party really is.
