The Marketing Insights event at UTS Business was an incredible experience. I enjoyed reconnecting with John Clay, Dr Andy West, and Nigel Bairstow. I gained invaluable insights from distinguished professionals such as Mark Phibbs, Gianna Bairstow, Sophie Blue, Azi Hosseini, Edmund Li, and Des Viranna. Their advice will undoubtedly contribute to my career growth in marketing.

As an international student, I often hear that securing a marketing role in Australia can be challenging. Many of my peers felt misguided during their studies, leaving the course incomplete or switching fields. A common misconception is that only native English speakers can succeed in marketing without formal qualifications. I strongly disagree. With a growth mindset and determination, I believe anything is possible.

I have been passionate about marketing and am confident plenty of opportunities are available. The real challenge lies in understanding the market, adapting to its dynamics, and applying the right strategies. This can be overwhelming, especially for students balancing full-time studies while trying to identify and pursue these opportunities.

Many students, like myself, are eager to grow, thrive, and make an impact but often feel uncertain about where to start, how to navigate the industry, or whom to approach for guidance. I encourage the UTS: University of Technology Sydney to organize more career-oriented networking events tailored specifically for marketing students. Additionally, collaborating with the Australian Marketing Institute to provide internships and part-time and full-time job opportunities would enable us to apply what we have learned in real-world settings.

These initiatives would be invaluable in supporting our personal and professional development, effectively bridging the gap between ambition and opportunity.

Yesterday, after the Jumma prayer, I sat at the mosque, reflecting on my life. As I was deep in thought, one of my Pakistani brothers approached and asked how I was doing.

I shared with him how Islam has positively shaped my life, giving me a profound sense of purpose and direction. It has guided me to live with greater intention, deepening my connection to my faith and the values that bring meaning to my life.

Since I’ve been focusing on becoming a better Muslim and staying consistent with my religious practices, I asked if he had any advice on handling life’s challenges. We had an in-depth and insightful conversation.

After our discussion, he kindly invited me to lunch and treated me to Chicken Mandi. The food was excellent, and I couldn’t thank him enough for his generosity, wisdom, and time. We spent about three and a half hours talking, and it was a truly comforting experience.

Initially, I had planned to grab groceries after praying since I hadn’t cooked anything. I hadn’t expected to meet my brother at the mosque, nor did I imagine he’d offer me lunch. But it reminded me that when Allah has something planned for us, it unfolds without doubt and always for our benefit.

Reflecting on the day, I realized how valuable these moments of brotherhood are in my faith journey. The advice and kindness I received reminded me of the importance of community and how much we can learn from each other’s experiences. Meaningful conversations like this remind us that we’re not alone and can grow through the wisdom others share.

This encounter strengthened my resolve to continue striving to be a better Muslim and to offer that same support to others. Sharing help, advice, and kindness can make a significant difference in our personal growth and how we uplift each other as a community.

Mental health matters—do we truly care about it?

As an international student pursuing my Master of Marketing at the UTS: University of Technology Sydney, I've experienced the highs and lows of balancing studies, work, and an internship.

The opportunity to apply my marketing knowledge as a digital marketing intern at ExpertGate while working as a retail assistant at ALDI Australia has been rewarding and incredibly demanding.

Now that I'm nearing the end of my course, I'm excited to dive deeper into Australian consumer behavior and psychology. I'm eager to apply everything I've learned to real-world scenarios and become more productive in my professional journey.

Recently, the weight of multitasking caught up with me. While I deeply value my commitments and the trust people place in me, I realized I needed to prioritize my mental well-being.

After some reflection, I requested a one-month break from my internship to focus on completing my academic projects and assignments. Fortunately, my mentor, Dr. Mohammad Riyadh, realized my situation and supported my decision, reminding me that my studies are the priority.

I'm grateful to Mohammad for the opportunity at ExpertGate and the support I've received. He consistently appreciates my dedication to my education and career and encourages me to learn from my internship and apply those lessons to my profession.

It's not always about pushing harder—it's about knowing when to step back, breathe, and pause to recharge.

Key Takeaways:

→ Take time to check in with yourself and your mental health.
→ Know that taking a break is okay—it doesn't mean you're failing.
→ Prioritize what matters most, and everything else will follow.
→ Surround yourself with supportive people who understand your journey.
→ Growth happens not only when we push forward but also when we step back to reflect.

Mental health is crucial, and we can only perform at our best when we prioritize caring for ourselves.

Ever felt the joy of unexpected kindness?

A thoughtful dinner can mean so much -

Creating lasting memories and connections.

Today, my favorite teacher, Nigel Bairstow, offered me dinner. Though I was not habituated to the food, I tried to experience it.

I could not finish it because it was new and different food. Nigel suggested I take it home, which relieved me as I do not like wasting food, and one in ten people worldwide goes to bed hungry every night.

Nigel appreciated me for completing several personal and professional development courses, sharing what I had learned on my social media sites, and networking with professionals.

I would love to express my sincere gratitude to Nigel for investing his precious time, sharing his kind words, and encouraging me to secure a marketing position in Australia.

Sometimes, we need extra push or encouragement to accomplish our dreams.

While many try to avoid taking extra responsibility, Nigel does his best to create meaningful connections with his students as he cares about us.

Key Takeaways:

→ Keep hustling and improve yourself consistently.
→ Learn something every day and make it a habit.
→ Create content and create an impact or add value to your connections.
→ Love and respect others genuinely, and they will offer the same value to you.
→ You do not need to be perfect to have a conversation.
→ There’s no “right” time to ask for help—just ask!

Feeling inspired by the power of kindness and mentorship. Thank you, Nigel, for your constant support!

As I was heading home around 11 pm, I unexpectedly came across a store selling Pani Puri. I couldn't resist treating myself to some.

The business is run by an Arabian woman who kindly gave me an extra serving with a smiling face as it was late and she was about to close the shop. 😊

I strongly believe in Rizq. Whatever is written for me will undoubtedly come to me at the right time.

A few days ago, one of my brothers asked whether I cooked the lamb meat he gave me.

I explained that I didn't cook because I already had chicken curry in the fridge. Additionally, I don't like wasting food, as one in ten people worldwide goes to bed hungry every night.

After that day, he called me where I was.

I replied to him that I was working and that I would get home at around 10.16 pm.

He told me he cooked Lamb Biryani and wanted to give it to me.

I told him not to travel for me that night; it was better to put it on his fridge, and I might take it later as he would have stayed awake for me.

He replied that he would meet me at the nearest station to my home and requested that I call him when I would be there.

When I came to the station, I called him at 9.52 pm.

He picked me up at the station, gave me two boxes of Lamb Biryani, and dropped me at home.

After some days, I cooked the meat that he gave me.

Today, he again messaged me at 10.19 pm and asked me to call him if I was awake.

I called him and told him I had come from my work.

He was pleased that I worked today and told me he cooked Khichuri with boiled eggs and wanted to give them to me.

I couldn't tell him not to come late at night as it would be tough for him.

After nine minutes, he called me to say he was in front of my house and gave me two boxes of Khichuri, boiled eggs, and garlic pickles.

I sometimes question whether I have done enough for those who love me and show me empathy, compassion, and kindness.

May Almighty give me the strength to do something for them. ❤

After finishing work, I went to the gym and exercised for about 2 hours.

The temperature is 8 degrees Celsius.

While everyone else is asleep under blankets with the heater on, I dedicate this time to personal development.

It's midnight now, so it's time to head back home!

One of my Bangladeshi brothers invited me to his home on Eid day a few days ago.

However, as I didn't know his home address, I didn't remind him of his invitation.

He called me yesterday afternoon. However, I couldn't pick up his call as I was sleeping.

After waking up, I called him back, and he asked me if I had eaten Qurbani's meat.

At that moment, I felt so uncomfortable and shocked by thinking that I mightn't eat the Qurbani's meat.

I replied to him that I hadn't eaten yet. However, I will go to the market to purchase meat and other ingredients.

He said he was at his in-laws' home.

After some time, he called me again and asked whether I had a bike to take meat.

I replied that I didn't have a bike or car. However, I could go to his home by bus and train.

He said he would visit my house the next day, and I didn't need to travel.

After some time, one of my Indian brothers called and asked me where I was.

I replied to him that I was purchasing meat and groceries.

He told me to go outside of the store as he cooked and brought Lamb Paya for me.

After some time, I went there, and he gave me the Lamb Paya.

Today, my Indian brother called me again to come outside my house.

When I went outside my house, he came with his son and gave me date fruit and meat as he did Qurbani today.

When I entered my house, my Bangladeshi brother called and told me to go outside.

When I went outside my house, he brought me food with his wife, including Curry, Haleem, Nihari, Noodles, and Rice.

Upon returning home and opening the boxes, my housemates were surprised and asked who had given me the food.

I told them we could share, eat food, and leave some for others. Just because they gave it to me doesn't mean I will eat alone.

We enjoyed the food together. My mates felt happy and thanked me.

I genuinely feel grateful to the brothers and others who value and care about me and other students.

The purpose of sharing this experience is to spread joy to others. If you choose not to share with others, that's okay.

If I can perform Qurbani in Australia next year, I intend to invite and distribute the meat or meals to the students, brothers, and sisters to the best of my abilities, In Sha Allah. ❤

When one of my friends found out it takes about 60 minutes to commute to my gym, he was surprised.

He mentioned that he couldn't walk for more than 5 minutes and depended on his car. He suggested I purchase a car or a bicycle to make it easier.

While I know his intention was positive, there's no pride in admitting that one can't walk for more than 5 minutes. It indicates a lack of physical fitness and the need to focus on one's health.

Instead of relying solely on a vehicle, we should move our bodies to ensure physical and mental well-being.

If you can't afford a gym membership or are short on time, try walking or running for at least 15 minutes daily.

Walking or running can help reduce stress, develop healthy habits, and improve your lifestyle.

Following my job, I had an insightful conversation about one of my industry project's advancements with our dedicated mentor.

Due to time constraints, I couldn't work out in the morning. Therefore, I am working out at the gym late at night to gain motivation and reduce stress.

Though it's raining heavily outside, I can't stop myself from coming to the gym because I need to achieve my goals, and it's part of the process.

Don't let lame excuses destroy you and your dreams! Manage your priorities!

As I wanted to learn how to prepare beef curry deliciously, I asked my flatmate to assist me in cooking it.

He accepted my request, helped me to cook, and explained the process. Though a busy professional, he put his time, effort, and energy into preparing the curry.

The beef curry was delicious, and I enjoyed it. I can't thank him enough for his support and assistance. 😊

It was around 12.15 am, and almost every restaurant nearby was closed.

I realized that I didn't prepare anything for my dinner. So, I ordered Achari Chicken, Zeera Rice, and Dal.

I was confused about the taste of the food as most were new to me.

I experienced Achari Chicken and Zeera Rice for the first time, which was so delicious.

Besides, after a long time, I ate Dal, and the taste was satisfying.

To maintain a healthy weight, I stopped eating rice. However, today, I couldn't resist it and consumed some. 😇

"When feeling demotivated, move your ass," one of my coaches once said.

I have taken his advice to heart, which has helped me tremendously.

For the past three days, I felt overwhelmed by some project work and couldn't bring myself to the gym.

But today, I pushed myself to work out, which was worth it. It made me feel more relaxed, peaceful, and happy afterwards.

I cooked Zucchini with Tomato for the first time. It's delicious and healthy, and you can try it.

After coming to Australia, I cooked vegetables for the second time because it was time-consuming.

However, I'll cook vegetables and different foods and share them with you from now on so I feel motivated to eat and try them. 😃
