Adoptive parents often emphasize the importance of being open about adoption and encouraging our children to see it as completely normal. But how can we be sure we're doing the right thing? Recently, a fellow adoptive parent shared how her 7-year-old son responded to a friend's remark about DNA. Bravo to the boy for his confidence! But it made me wonder about the other side of the coin. What kind of understanding or information has been passed on to the other child to make him equate DNA with being related or capable of love? I'd love to hear your thoughts, readers, followers, and fellow parents.

Some meetings never feel new... It's like picking up from where we left .. This was one such meeting with someone whom I have known since 36 years of my life.. .. Yes you guessed it right my school buddy... We are still the same kids by heart who revisited our mischiefs, apprehensions, joys, memorable moments and what not... Thank You God for bringing such people in my life... It was awesome meeting you . .. It's just another beginning of several episodes of rendezvous with you...love you ❤ (We met after 8 years.. Never felt we were away for so long.. Thanks to smart phones this time)...

PS- It's not her Birthday.. It's the day she came home (Homecoming) 🥰

👨‍👩‍👧‍👧 Every adoptive parent will relate to what I am going to share now. It was the first time we met, I had mixed emotions and was so afraid to even identify any of them openly. My better half appeared more strong and firm but I knew he was nervous and anxious (more than me). We met our piece of heart not knowing anything about how the future will turn out to be. Since it was in the (IP) referral we had very little information about our child. We flew from cities to embrace the joy of parenthood. A first look and we fell for her. It was like a gut feeling that said she is the one for whom we had waited for all these years.

It feels like yesterday but look at the pic, she has outgrown my lap. Turning to be a happy and smart kid... I wish I could hold the time 🕚 in my hands and would revisit every moment and experience the joy of holding her close to me like I did the first time.💖 That was the best moment of my life so far.

🗓This day we welcomed her home and we became a forever family that's formed with abundant love and no other tags attached. We celebrate this day as a family every year to cherish the beauty of it by travelling and giving her new experiences that can be captured in our hearts forever. This year it's 🚉 at she is overjoyed with this experience and so are we. Her smile is what we wake up every day for. 🥰

I pray to the Almighty to keep this love intact and growing in leaps and bounds. And I am thankful that we got to be her parents. We couldn't have asked for more.

Simplicity was her policy throughout her life...These sarees we have draped today has her essence.. It was her's.. And to honor her today on her 13th day ritual we decided to wrap ourselves and feel her presence on us... Although we are not even close to what a persona she was...

My 5 year old was playing around and suddenly approached me and then there was a conversation that happened that goes like this

A- Why are you sad Mamma?

Me- Nothing dear, I am missing my Ajji (grandma)

A- Oh. But why did she go? When will she come back?

Me- She was called by God. Once they leave for God's home they won't come back.

A- Hmm. I see. Don't worry Mamma. You order a new Super Ajji online.

Saying this she kissed my cheeks and got back to playing leaving me thought provoked and jolted. How I wish what she said could be true. How I wish I could actually call upon my grandma online.

Her innocence touched the tear button and i couldnt help but cry more. Everyone who is born will die it's the biggest truth of world, yet we struggle to spread love and empathy. Yet we end up fighting for fake ego, fame, wealth and what not.

At times what books can't teach you or make you realize, that is done by real life events.
