Hyderabad: We’ve often heard from our elders about how life was peaceful and slow-paced during their younger days and how they had ample time on hand to indulge in hobbies, sporting activities, and much more. However, things began to change as the decades went by and the millennium set in.

Today we have Gen Z which swears by multi-tasking as they balance, studies, jobs, careers, and whatnot. The result — an unhealthy and sedentary lifestyle, irregular food habits, lack of sleep, exercise, and sporting activity as they perennially race ag*inst time to reach deadlines.
The lifestyle of a corporate employee can be stressful as they slog for 10-12 hours a day.

Here is where Hyderabad-based Life’s a Pitch LLP, steps in to help corporate employees unwind through a host of sporting activities and chart out a healthy lifestyle. The recreational, cultural, and sports management company has been organising sports events such as cricket tourneys, cyclothons, marathons among others.

Devideen Nilesh Kumar Yadav, founder-director, Life’s a Pitch LLP, says, “The pandemic made people realise the importance of fitness and keeping ourselves healthy. Earlier, people had this notion about sports being a waste of time. However, things are changing now. Our aim is to promote sports in every household and encourage every individual to pick up a sport and dedicate at least an hour in their daily routine.”

Of late many corporate firms in Hyderabad are organising sporting events for their employees for recreational purposes. The 49-year-old former baseball player said, “A decade ago there was hardly any sporting activity in the city. Now, we have marathons, running, and cycling events and there are about 10,000 cyclists in Hyderabad. We want to increase their participation and compete with cities like New Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.”

He says, “Corporate firms are coming forward to encouraging sports as it not only helps employees unwind but also keeps them fit and helps increase productivity at work.” Even doctors, chartered accountants, and other professional communities are taking up sports.

Life’s a Pitch is also planning to organise a Himalayan Cycling Expedition from Manali to Leh this August and a community cricket league. “I have been a sportsperson all my life and sports has given me a lot in my career. Now I want to give back to society and I am trying my best,” says Nilesh.

Muslim woman shot dead by police while resisting her son’s detention in cow slaughter case

A 53-year-old Muslim woman, named Roshni who resisted her son’s detention in a cow slaughter case, died in police firing at Islamnagar village in Uttar Pradesh’s Sidhharthnagar district on late Saturday night.

Roshni’s son Atirqur Rehman said to New Indian Express that around 15-20 police officers reached their house on Saturday night and tried to take his brother Abdul Rehman into custody without giving any reason. When Roshni resisted the police, one of the cops opened fire in which she sustained a bullet injury due to which she died on the spot.

The police came with a special operations group.

The police also took away Abdu Rehman despite the protests by villagers.

The deceased’s family was busy doing preparations for the wedding of Roshni’s daughter Rabia scheduled for 22 May, the newspaper reported. Abdul Rehman arrived from Mumbai on 9 May to attend his sister’s marriage.

They fired. My mother was hit by a bullet,” Abdu Rehman told reporters outside a local hospital where his mother was declared dead.

After the police killing, the villagers protested ag*inst the police action. The massive protest forced the police party to flee.

“They shot her and fled. They didn’t even pick her up,” Rehman said.

Following the outrage, an FIR has been lodged on a complaint by the son of the deceased. Siddharth Nagar police on Sunday lodged an FIR ag*inst unidentified policemen on charges of murder. The complaint alleged that police personnel first threatened to shoot Roshni when she tried to rescue her son and later opened fire.

The body of the deceased was handed over to the family members after post-mortem.

“There was a bullet injury mark as the bullet passed through her body. I am yet to go through the post-mortem report,” Siddharth Nagar circle officer Pradeep Kumar Yadav said to Indian Express.

Crack_down_on_g***a : Hyderabad cops breach privacy, check commuters’ mobiles.

The drive has come at a time when Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has declared an all-out war on the g***a trade in the state.

In a bizarre attempt to crack down on g***a users and peddlers in the city, Hyderabad policemen teamed up with excise officials on Thursday and randomly checked mobile phones of commuters in Dhoolpet.
The area has in the past been infamous for sale of narcotics.

The officials were apparently looking for WhatsApp groups and other social media information that may link individuals to g***a supplies. In the process, the cops clearly violated the Supreme Court order on privacy and even got trolled on Twitter for their overzealous search.

The drive has come at a time when Telangana chief minister K Chandrasekhar Rao has declared an all-out war on the g***a trade in the state. He has directed police and excise officials to make Telangana a drugs-free state.
