Jen Hair spend 20 years with The American Red Cross as a Disaster Manager and Heath and Safety Instructor. Her Great Grandmother, Luella Richardson Moor, rolled bandages for the Red Cross in the early 1900 and every generation of women since have been involved with the organization in some way.

This week we’re talking FIRST AID!

When is the last time you updated your medicine cabinet? Now is a great time to take stock of what you’ve got! Set a date to pull everything out to check expiration dates and quantities. As you review your inventory, consider supplies in these locations:

🎒 Small First Aid kits in your emergency 72 Hour backpacks.

⛑ Larger Family Style Kit stored with your extended 72 Hour Bins (along with your camping and cooking gear).

🌡 Updated supplies for scrapes, bruises, bug bites and minor illnesses. Keep these items easily accessible for day to day use.

💊Updated over the counter and prescription medications stored in a secure location.

🤕 Advanced supplies for emergency situations (childbirth, wound care) that you hope you won’t need but will be thankful you have. Store more advanced supplies in a safe location away from little hands.

Make a shopping list and add a few items to your cart (online or in person) each time you shop! While you’re at it, buy some nice boxes and bins to keep it all organized. This week’s blog gives you some good ideas for getting started. In honor of what would have been his 74th birthday, we are dedicating SaltyPrepper’s first blog post to our dad, grandpa and friend, Bill Webster. We are carrying on his legacy.
