The Path to Leadership; The Path to Success

The word leadership is often misinterpreted, some say that it refers to power, but no. It refers to the path to success.

The flames of the competition has been lit for the upcoming SSLG (Supreme Secondary Learners Government) as three party lists emerged from the depths. During June 5, 2023 at 7:00 am in the morning, each one introduced themselves for preparation for the upcoming election.

During the remaining time of classes, each partylist roamed the campus, presenting each other's uniqueness by creating platforms that will make the school a safe and enjoyable environment to all Bernardians. Each candidate also gave their grounds on being a student leader by showing why they deserve their position.

7 neophyte writers from The Hillside Chronicle and Ang Bagong Sikat put a hold on the drought in campus journalism by pocketing awards in the 2022 District IV Secondary Schools Press Conference held at Eugenio M. Lopez Jr. Center for Media Arts Senior High School, December 10.

In spite of the limited time and resources for training, the campus journalists made Ponciano Bernardo High School proud after the 2-year hiatus from the face-to-face press conferences.

Following is the list of the victorious staffers from The Hillside Chronicle and Ang Bagong Sikat:

The Hillside Chronicle

Samantha Jorillo notched 2nd place in Copyreading and Headline Writing

Jaztine Dela Cruz snagged 7th place in Pagsulat ng Lathalain

After emerging victorious, the young journos were reminded by their School Paper Advisers that "winning is not the end of a student's career as journalist but the beginning of a broader and a wider path if one pursues career in Journalism."

The staffers were also urged to "continue to bring out what others need to know, show fairness in any news, and show wisdom in every article they write and share."

The Hillside Chronicle and Ang Bagong Sikat expressed their gratitude to Kuya Ali for picking them up right at the time needed and getting them safely to and from the contest venue;

The press conference was joined in by at least 300 campus writers and School Paper Advisers coming from public and private secondary schools in the fourth district of Quezon City.

The Hillside Chronicle and Ang Bagong Sikat had not been actively involved in schools press conferences since 2019.
