Yesterday, we gave a tour and talked with Representative Matt Rosendale. We discussed many things, cheif among them wool, of course, and the many struggles the industry, as many others related to ag, are facing right now.

We welcome anyone who wants to give us a call and schedule a tour to do so! It's a very important part that we play in the industry.

P.S. Deb, the lady next to me in the image, is the owner of Mintana Mills, and leases a section of our warehouse at 119 S 25th street here in Billings, for her feed store. Many have been missing a couple local feed providers who recently closed.

Mintana Mills is a great option if you are wanting midwest and locally sourced food for everything from dogs and cats, to cattle, chickens, ducks, pigeons and more. Minnesota folks who moved to Montana, (hence the name), owned and operated business since 1990.

https://www.health.harvard.edu/newsletter_article/Nutritions-dynamic-duos

Not sure if anyone else is interested in this sort of thing being on this page, but I found this article enlightening as to how a few of your basic dietary requirements work together for better overall health.

Certain nutrients, such as calcium and vitamin D or potassium and sodium, work better in pairs, which is useful information when making nutritional choices.

"Small scale lamb producers fear Facebook is acting in step with animal activists who may be lobbying the social media giant to ban packaged meat producers"
-The Weekly Times, Australia

"This is in accordance with food safety rules and is intended to protect people against potentially unlicensed or uninspected food"
-Facebook Spokewoman

Deniliquin farmer Bill Williams and several others have seen their posts of packaged meat products, all lamb, be taken down even though they have used Facebook for advertising for years and all who have been banned all have their meat processed at certified and regulated meat processing facilities.

There is more information in the article, just figured I would make this post to highlight issues outside of the USA that will affect world lamb prices and supply whether many realise it or not. Unfortunately it does require a membership to view the full article online, here

Hello all. I know its been months since the last update, and I apologize for that. Life has been crazy, as I am sure it as for many of you.

Down to business. From what all domestic and international wool markets are registering, all wool markets are either stagnant or are only making very specific sales among wool traders and yarn manufacturers.

While the Australian market has been up and down, they have continued to try and trade wool. Though, obviously, at much lower amounts than a normal year.

Here in the US, very little wool is being traded, whether to mills within the country for domestic production, or for export to China and other countries, as the previous, and very successful years of 2018 and 2019 have left producers, traders and buyers holding much product in storage. Whether it is product ready to be made into yarn and woven into fabric in the woolen mills, or still raw wool in warehouses across the country, things are at a variety of standstills. It is very likely nearly all of 2020 and some of 2021 wool production will need to be further held in storage, while the market begins once again to slowly turn the wheels of production and utilize 2018/19 wool to make room for new.

While this may not be good news for the farmer and rancher, the lamb market has seen a small uptick and has been steady, even with the sudden closure of Mountain State Rosen meat processing plant in July.

May you all stay safe out there during these troubled times, and God Bless.

Just sharing a thought that crossed my mind as I watch and read through all the news and world happenings today.

The classic saying of "walk softly and carry a big stick", perhaps we could change it up a bit so we can utilize it as something more to live by.

'Walk confidently, speak firmly and truthfully, with conviction and the knowledge to back it up, and carry a big stick'

Perhaps if we all carried this mentality forward, we could ensure everyone could have their chance at liberty, the old kind of Freedom, not the unhinged 'I can do what I want' kind of freedom, but the kind that a society has when they follow just laws and build a family structure, and perhaps, at the other side of the road this could take us down, find happiness among all Americans.

God Bless!

Latest clean wool prices for the last month reported by the USDA.
Please note that these prices are after the wool is cleaned and ready to sell at the mill.

Ranchers will only get paid for the yield percentage that a lab test finds the wool has while it is still dirty, or as those in the industry say 'wool in the grease', and there are other factors.

To explain simply, I will use a hypothetical: Rancher A has 1000lbs of wool at 20 micron and a yield of 60%, he only gets paid the clean price of $3 per pound, if you times that by .60 and you get $1.80, before handling expenses and tax. Please ask your questions in the comments below.
