This year's No 1 UK Christmas anthem was kept off the top of the charts 39 years ago by the nation's second biggest-selling single of all time written by Bob Geldof and Midge Ure and released by the supergroup Band Aid to raise funds for famine relief in Ethiopia.
And there will be few UK citizens tucking into their turkey tomorrow who are not familiar with the words “feed the world, feed the world, let them know it's Christmas time again”.
But those lyrics are perhaps more resonant this year than they have been at any other time in all 39 years since Do They Know It’s Christmas? first topped the charts in 1984 and kept this year's No 1, Last Christmas, from hitting the summit.
Again this year “there's a world outside your window, and it's a world of dread and fear, where the only water flowing, is the bitter sting of tears”.
And, just in case you’ve had your head buried in the sand for the past two months, the name of that place is Gaza… the scene of perhaps the most horrific genocide the world has ever witnessed, that is being condoned by the governments of the UK and US and perpetrated by the Zionist monsters who hold office in the state of Israel.
So tomorrow when you're tucking into your parsnips and sprouts spare a thought for the genocide that continues unabated this Christmas in Gaza, where the average age of the thousands who have been slaughtered by Israel is just five... surely the youngest "terrorists" ever to have walked the planet, whose very future on earth scares the hell out of Israel, which has occupied and terrorised their home in Palestine for the past 75 years.
Be sure to say a prayer for the children of Gaza too
