Sailing Mahalo

Today we have lost one of the greatest icons in the youtube sailing community, Patrick Childress. An inspiration and teacher to many, he will leave a lasting impression on all of us.
Fair winds, my friend!

Today is a sad day. We woke up to news that Patrick Childress has passed away from complications with COVID-19, in South Africa.

Patrick and his wife Rebecca are world cruisers, sailing aboard their beautiful boat, Brick House for nearly 40 years. Chris and I have followed them for many years and have even shared a few conversations through YouTube and Facebook. Patrick was a very knowledgeable sailor, from skilled DIY work to voyaging around the world. He was an inspiration to many, and will be very missed.

Please keep his wife Rebecca in your thoughts and prayers, as she is still aboard Brick House in South Africa. When we find out more information regarding how we can help, we will share here on this post.

Patrick and Rebecca Childress need our help! They have helped so many, including us, with sharing their knowledge end expertise on DIY boat repair and blue water sailing. Now it’s time to give back. They have both come down with Covid-19 in South Africa. Patrick is in hospital on a ventilator and Rebecca is quarantined on their boat, Brick House.

Insurance has rejected their claim and stated they don’t cover pandemics. I can’t even imagine how that must feel! Let’s help them get the financials out of the way so they can focus on healing and getting their full strength back.
