PHYTO: Principles and Resources for Site Remediation and Landscape Design is a great by and where principles for mitigating on-site pollutants through using plants. In our research about landscapes affected by natural disasters, we came across Mount Tambora, Indonesia and its unique history, shaped by the volcanic eruption in 1815. It stands out as one of the deadliest natural disasters in modern society.

Now, the landscape of the volcano has retained its natural form and is designated as a nature reserve.
In the broader vicinity of the volcano, there are small interventions like walking paths, leisure kiosks, and information signs.

Πάνω στην αναζήτηση μας σχετικά με τοπία τα οποία έχουν υποστήριξη και έως καταστροφές έπεσε το μάτι μας πάνω στο όρος ταμπόρα που βρίσκεται στην Ινδονησία και την ιδιαίτερη ιστορία του που έχει δημιουργηθεί μέσα από την έκρηξη του ηφαιστείου του το ετος 1815 και αποτελεί από τις πιο πολύνεκρες φυσικες καταστροφές της σύγχρονης κοινωνίας.

Τωρα το τοπίο του ηφασίου κράτησε τη φυσική του μορφή ειναι χαρακτηρισμένο ως δρυμός.

Στο ευρύτερο τοπίο του ηφαιστείου, απαντώνται μικρές παρεμβάσεις όπως περιπάτοι, κιόσκι αναψυχής και πινακίδες ενημέρωσης.

The (2005-2008), initiated by , together with , and came as a response to a massive tsunami that hit the coastlines of South East Asia. It killed 230,000 people and caused enormous damage. This project supported disaster-recovery in 6 countries by restoring mangroves and developing sustainable livelihoods. In alone 70 community groups restored no less than 2000 hectares of mangroves. In return they received support to develop new livelihoods such as crab farming, small-scale fisheries and sustainable aquaculture. Currently these communities live in mangrove landscapes, with patches of mangroves alternating with agriculture and aquaculture.

New Orleans is experiencing the most intense influence of the urban heat island in the broader national context. Although it is noted for the impressive Live Oaks that adorn its urban landscape, more than half of its 72 neighborhoods face the problem of a lack of trees, with a percentage of less than 10%. The goal of the New Orleans Reforestation Plan is to highlight equity as central to rebalancing access to the health and economic well-being benefits that trees provide throughout the city.

An ambitious five-year pilot program focuses on planting trees in five different neighborhoods. At the same time, it invests in capacity building through a process of deep participation before implementation, strengthening community ownership of the project. Visioning toward 2040, the plan envisions a city where every neighborhood, especially those that lack traditional sources of wealth or political power, will have unfettered access to the health and well-being benefits of trees.

Η Νέα Ορλεάνη βιώνει την πλέον έντονη εκδήλωση της αστικής θερμικής νησίδας στο ευρύτερο εθνικό πλαίσιο. Παρότι διακρίνεται για τα εντυπωσιακά Live Oaks που στολίζουν το αστικό της τοπίο, περισσότερες από τις μισές από τις 72 γειτονιές της αντιμετωπίζουν το πρόβλημα της έλλειψης δέντρων, με ποσοστό κάτω του 10%. Στόχος του Σχεδίου Αναδάσωσης της Νέας Ορλεάνης είναι να αναδείξει τη δικαιοσύνη ως τον κεντρικό παράγοντα για την επαναφορά της ισορροπίας στην πρόσβαση στα οφέλη υγείας και οικονομικής ευημερίας που προσφέρουν τα δέντρα σε όλη την πόλη.

Ένα φιλόδοξο πιλοτικό πρόγραμμα, διάρκειας πέντε ετών, επικεντρώνεται στη φύτευση δέντρων σε πέντε διαφορετικές γειτονιές. Παράλληλα, επενδύει στη δημιουργία ικανοτήτων μέσω μιας διαδικασίας βαθιάς συμμετοχής πριν από την υλοποίηση, ενισχύοντας την κοινοτική ιδιοκτησία του έργου. Με οραματισμό προς το 2040, το σχέδιο προβλέπει μια πόλη όπου κάθε γειτονιά, ειδικά εκείνες που αντιμετωπίζουν έλλειψη παραδοσιακών πηγών πλούτου ή πολιτικής εξουσίας, θα έχει ανεμπόδιστη πρόσβαση στα οφέλη που προσφέρουν τα δέντρα για την υγεία και την ευημερία.

are important areas worldwide, since they provide important ecosystem services and are prime places for people to settle. However, due to climate change, river discharges have increased, and these areas have become prone to flooding issues.

The Dutch Room for the river Is a project designed to reduce this risk of flooding. Thus, at more than 30 locations measures are taken to give the river space to reduce flood risks and improve the quality of the immediate surroundings.

At the area of Nijmegen one of the most complex projects designed by +N+S architects was realized. By constructing a bypass channel, an elongated island is created in the river Waal, between the historic center and the north shore of the Waal River. This island together with the bypass form a river park while new bridges enhance the connection.

street park designed by Architecture is a park in . Its characteristic is its rich material quality of brick, stone and concrete.
Brick is used in a series of colours and patterns, inspired by the material quality of the brewery buildings of the area, creating a robust and timeless space.
The central feature of the pocket park is a brick swale that acts as a collection point for stormwater from the streets above the park while a patchwork of paving at the end on the park draws together all the materials used in the park and surrounds.
A great example of how with little interventions you can create a nice meaningful place.

Το πάρκο του δρόμου Balfour που σχεδιάστηκε από την Jane Irwin Landscape Architecture είναι ένα εξαιρετικό στο Σίδνεϊ. Χαρακτηριστικό του είναι η πλούσια υλική του ποιότητα από τούβλα, πέτρα και σκυρόδεμα. Το τούβλο χρησιμοποιείται σε μια σειρά από χρώματα και σχέδια, εμπνευσμένα από την ποιότητα των υλικών των κτιρίων ζυθοποιίας της περιοχής, δημιουργώντας έναν στιβαρό και διαχρονικό χώρο. Το κεντρικό χαρακτηριστικό του πάρκου τσέπης είναι ένα τούβλο που λειτουργεί ως σημείο συλλογής όμβριων υδάτων από τους δρόμους πάνω από το πάρκο, ενώ ένα συνονθύλευμα πλακόστρωτων στο τέλος του πάρκου συγκεντρώνει όλα τα υλικά που χρησιμοποιούνται στο πάρκο και τα περιβάλλει. Ένα εξαιρετικό παράδειγμα για το πώς με μικρές παρεμβάσεις μπορείτε να δημιουργήσετε ένα ωραίο μέρος με νόημα.

, designed by Zion, opened in 1967. Every detail of the park was crafted in order to . To help prevent sound from directly entering from the street and to create a sense of privacy in the space, the entire park is slightly elevated from street-level by several steps. The dense ivy on the walls and the low tree canopy work as a sound barrier and the feature on the back wall produces white noise that drowns out the sounds of the city.

Τα είναι ανοιχτοί χώροι σε ιδιόκτητα ακίνητα και η συντήρηση του χώρου γίνεται από τους ιδιοκτήτες τους. Το , στη σχεδιασμένο από τον Zion, άνοιξε το 1967. Κάθε λεπτομέρεια του πάρκου δημιουργήθηκε για να μετριάσει τον θόρυβο της πόλης. Για να αποτρέψετε την απευθείας είσοδο του ήχου από το δρόμο και να δημιουργήσετε μια αίσθηση ιδιωτικότητας στο χώρο, ολόκληρο το πάρκο είναι ελαφρώς ανυψωμένο από το επίπεδο του δρόμου κατά πολλά σκαλοπάτια. Ο πυκνός κισσός στους τοίχους και ο χαμηλός θόλος δέντρων λειτουργούν ως ηχητικό φράγμα και το χαρακτηριστικό στον πίσω τοίχο παράγει λευκό θόρυβο που πνίγει τους ήχους της πόλης.

Σχεδιασμένο από τους PWP Landscape Architecture, το Reserve είναι ένα παγκοσμίως σημαντικό έργο ανάπλασης μιας παράκτιας έκτασης 22 εκταρίων που επαναπροσδιορίζει τη δυτική άκρη του Harbor. Το τσιμεντένιο λιμανι μετατράπηκε σε ένα νατουραλιστικό πάρκο με χιλιάδες αυτοφυή φυτά.

Can small changes still be significant to the state of a place? and worked on the Western seafront of by adding minimum interventions. The design focused on the creation of a promenade in straight contact with the beach, limiting the presence of artificial structure and improving the environmental impact of the seafront road on the coast line and to favour a non-vehicular use of the site. The small interventions add a poetic calm sense in the area with respect to the existing landscape.

Μπορούν οι μικρές αλλαγές να είναι σημαντικές για την κατάσταση ενός τόπου; Οι και εργάστηκαν στη δυτική παραλία του προσθέτοντας ελάχιστες παρεμβάσεις. Ο σχεδιασμός επικεντρώθηκε στη δημιουργία ενός περιπάτου σε ευθεία επαφή με την παραλία, περιορίζοντας την παρουσία τεχνητής κατασκευής και βελτιώνοντας τις περιβαλλοντικές επιπτώσεις του παραθαλάσσιου δρόμου στην ακτογραμμή και ευνοώντας τη χρήση του χώρου χωρίς οχήματα. Οι μικρές παρεμβάσεις προσθέτουν μια ποιητική ηρεμία στην περιοχή με σεβασμό στο υπάρχον τοπίο.

Tel Aviv has a mesmerizing waterfront management.
The current waterfront is designed by Mayslits Kassif Architects in the year 2018.

«Since its inception in the late 1930s, the central promenade of the young Bauhaus city of Tel Aviv played a key role in establishing the ever-changing connection between the city and its shore.» [...]
Such design gives people the opportunity to experience a smooth embedded living experience including both city life and the sea.

Το Τελ Αβίβ διαθέτει μια μαγευτική διαχείριση της παραλιακής ζώνης.
Η σημερινή προκυμαία έχει σχεδιαστεί από τους Mayslits Kassif Architects το έτος 2018.

In May 2020 the construction of the coastal front at , the first of six strategic development areas in , was completed.

Designed by and having as main concept the protection of the area from typhoons, a triple d**e strategy was implemented. The first buffer zone consists of "wave gardens", mitigating the impact of the flow during storms. The middle zone consists of a sequence of shifting walls, with different heights. The third zone is formed by a set of "water gardens", which are also used as public spaces.

Τον Μάιο του 2020 ολοκληρώθηκε η κατασκευή του παράκτιου μετώπου στο , την πρώτη από τις έξι περιοχές στρατηγικής ανάπτυξης στο

Σχεδιασμένο από τους και με κύρια ιδέα την προστασία της περιοχής από τους τυφώνες, εφαρμόστηκε μια στρατηγική τριπλού αναχώματος. Η πρώτη προστατευτική ζώνη αποτελείται από «κυματόκηπους», που μετριάζουν τις επιπτώσεις της ροής κατά τη διάρκεια καταιγίδων. Η μεσαία ζώνη αποτελείται από μια ακολουθία μετατοπιζόμενων τοίχων, με διαφορετικά ύψη. Η τρίτη ζώνη σχηματίζεται από ένα σύνολο από «κήπους νερού», που χρησιμοποιούνται και ως δημόσιοι χώροι.

designed by studio is one of the great examples of how a green roof can improve the harsh urban condition of a dense city. Located in Osaka's dense Business District the park features trees, ponds and planting beds, all irrigated by recycled water of the restaurants within the complex. Starting from the street level and rising up to the top, the roof park attracts large numbers of people providing spaces to relax and come together.

Το Parks που σχεδιάστηκε από το στούντιο είναι ένα από τα σπουδαία παραδείγματα του πώς μια πράσινη στέγη μπορεί να βελτιώσει τη σκληρή αστική κατάσταση μιας πυκνής πόλης. Τοποθετημένο στην πυκνή επιχειρηματική περιοχή της Οσάκα, το πάρκο διαθέτει δέντρα, λίμνες και φυτείες τα οποία χρησιμοποιούν το ανακυκλωμένο νερό των εστιατορίων του συγκροτήματος. Ξεκινώντας από το επίπεδο του δρόμου και ανεβαίνοντας μέχρι την κορυφή, το πάρκο προσελκύει μεγάλο αριθμό ατόμων παρέχοντας χώρους χαλάρωσης και συνάντησης.

The innovative, highly sustainable design includes a 2.2-hectare (5.4-acre) rooftop park that will anchor the growth of a new mixed-use neighborhood."

This intensive roof was completed in 2016, it includes a healing garden & roof meadow. The project has a water management features!

How is it possible to make 2000 parking places to vanish from public space? What about building a Park on top of them ? This is what we can learn from the Millennium Park, which is locates in Chicago and extends over 24.5 acres. Above the parking space besides the Millenium Park there is also the magnificent Lurie garden.
• Interesting fact No1 is that the was originally designed by Piet Oudolf, who participates in the preservation and maintenance of the Park even today.
• Interesting fact No2 is that the park is connected by a 285m footbridge to Maggie Daley Park.

Πώς είναι δυνατόν να εξαφανιστούν 2000 θέσεις στάθμευσης από τον δημόσιο χώρο;  Γίνεται με την κατασκευή ενός Πάρκου πάνω τους;  Αυτό μπορούμε να μάθουμε από το Millennium Park, το οποίο βρίσκεται στο Σικάγο και εκτείνεται σε 24,5 στρέμματα.  Πάνω από τη θέση στάθμευσης εκτός από το Millenium Park υπάρχει και ο υπέροχος κήπος του Lurie.
• Ενδιαφέρον δεδομένο Νο1 είναι ότι ο σχεδιάστηκε αρχικά από τον Piet Oudolf, ο οποίος συμμετέχει στη διατήρηση και συντήρηση του Πάρκου ακόμα και σήμερα.

A consists of nine (3 × 3) urban city blocks, including interior and exterior streets, combined into a traffic-calmed neighborhood that belongs only to the residents. A sophisticated system of one-way streets diverts through-traffic to the streets outside the superblock. Only residents, ambulances, and delivery vehicles can pass. Despite the fact that this intervention by itself does not give a solution to parking, it creates the conditions for slowly minimizing car usage.

Ένα αποτελείται από εννέα (3 × 3) αστικά τετράγωνα της πόλης, συμπεριλαμβανομένων εσωτερικών και εξωτερικών δρόμων, συνδυασμένα σε μια γειτονιά που ηρεμεί από την κυκλοφορία και ανήκει μόνο στους κατοίκους. Ένα εξελιγμένο σύστημα μονόδρομων εκτρέπει την κυκλοφορία στους δρόμους έξω από το superblock. Μόνο κάτοικοι, ασθενοφόρα και οχήματα παράδοσης μπορούν να περάσουν. A woonerf-designed street has no division between cars and people, forcing cars to drive at a slower pace. Parking is provided in the street while at the same time there is space for green and activities leading to more vibrant and liveable neighbourhoods. Could your street also be transformed with such a concept?
