YouTube’s testing a new option that would enable creators to add multiple audio tracks in different languages to their videos, which could greatly expand audience potential in the app.
As you can see in this screenshot, posted by Business Insider, YouTube is letting some creators add multiple audio tracks to their clips, providing another way to showcase your work to different user groups.
YouTube already has auto-translated captions as a similar option on this front, but the capacity to overdub your videos, or create all new tracks for different regions, would expand upon this, and potentially add a whole new element for different audiences.
YouTube says that, on average, over two-thirds of a creator’s audience watch time will come from outside of their home region, which underlines the potential here, and the capacity to reach a broader audience in the app.

According to Business Insider, YouTube’s currently testing the new language options with a small subset of creators.
On another front, YouTube’s also expanding its test of images in Community poll posts.

“We’re experimenting with functionality that allows for up to 4 images to be added to poll posts on the Community tab. This feature is live on Android and desktop devices and we’ve heard great feedback about it, so we’re excited to test it on iOS devices now too! Creators in the experiment who have Community tab access are able to make these image polls and viewers across all devices will be able to see and interact with them.”

Meta-owned messaging platform WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new feature that will allow users to schedule calls within their group chats.

Users will be able to select a title, date, and time for their call, making sure that everyone in the group is aware of when it will take place, reports WABetaInfo.

It is useful when the group is organizing an event, by allowing members to schedule a call to discuss the details and confirm that everyone is available.

The ability to schedule a call within the group chats is currently under development and is expected to be released in a future update of the application.

With the new feature, it will be possible to create a calling shortcut by just tapping the contact cell within the list of contacts. This feature will be helpful for users who frequently make calls to the same person and do not want to go through the same process again and again, that is, opening the application and searching for the contact every time.

Starting on March 16, 2023, Instagram users will no longer be able to tag products while live-streaming - a capability that has been broadly available to U.S. businesses and creators since 2020.

As noted, live shopping has been huge in China, bringing in close to $400 billion in the region in 2022 alone, which is equivalent to almost half of all eCommerce spending in the US last year. Live-stream commerce has also proven increasingly popular among younger audiences, with users aged 27 and under seeing the fastest adoption of live-stream spending.

That’s been a key element in boosting Douyin, the Chinese version of TikTok, which generates the majority of its revenue from in-app shopping. Sales generated via Douyin live broadcasts rose 7x year-over-year in 2021, and on the back of the pandemic-led eCommerce boom, western social platforms had been looking to jump on board, and usher in a new generation of live, in-stream shopping across their apps.

Pinterest, YouTube, Instagram – virtually every app has tried its hand at live-stream shopping, but none of them have caught on in the same way as their Chinese counterparts.

And now, as Meta looks to cut costs, and streamline its operations, it’s moving on completely from the process.

Cadbury 5 Star launches the Mush Detector this Valentine’s Day.

Cadbury 5Star, the Mondelez India brand, has launched a campaign to help singles navigate through the love-sick zones and dodge couples this Valentine’s Day.

As part of this year’s proposition, the brand has introduced a Mush Detector Web App that detects high mush zones thus, helping free birds ‘Do Nothing’ in peace.

The color-coded map allows users from across the country to see where Valentine's Day celebrations are likely to be in full swing and identify quiet areas where they can do nothing in peace, far away from all the chaos.

It will track areas where romantic gifts like chocolates are being purchased in large numbers, as well as hotspots like restaurants, cinemas, and public places that are likely to be swarming with couples, and will combine all the data to create a real-time map of mush in any given location. Users can also use the AR mode to point their phone cameras at any location to see if there are mushy areas to avoid.

A 360-degree communication campaign will support the launch of Cadbury 5Star’s Mush Detector which includes out-of-home advertisement, influencer engagement, online and on-ground activations, etc.

Meta-owned Instagram is reportedly planning to bring a paid subscription model for its users. According to the developer and reverse engineer Alessandro Paluzzi (via TechCrunch), the photo-sharing and messaging app is working on paid verification services similar to Twitter Blue. The leakster has discovered references in code snippets about the upcoming feature.

“Instagram is working on a subscription plan which includes the blue badge," he writes in a post on the microblogging site Twitter. Paluzzi also shared screenshots of the app’s code with TechCrunch. The screenshots include a line that says “IG_NME_PAID_BLUE_BADGE_IDV" and “FB_NME_PAID_BLUE_BADGE_IDV."

However, there is no official announcement from Instagram and till that happens, this piece of information must be taken with a pinch of salt.

Twitter launched a new in-stream boost option for tweets, which gives a fast and straight forward option to promote your tweet without having to launch a full advert marketing campaign.

The new boost option would be available directly from a tweet. You’d simply tap through, select a budget, and you would be able to boost your tweet then and there.

Which seems to be new, but also seems familiar. It’s sort of like Twitter’s Quick Promote option, but an even more streamlined version, with new visuals and a new UI for boosting a tweet direct from the details screen.

Facebook Creator studio, which is the platform's dashboard-style interface for its creators, will soon be merged with the Meta business suite, according to reports.
