The Vibe EDM Podcast We believe everyone deserves to feel the vibrations that emit from the EDM scene. The EDM community was built on peace, love, unity and respect.

Our goal is to help promote this industry and all of the beautiful people who help create it.

A truly sad day, not just for the EDM community, but the music community as a whole. Daft Punk transcended the music industry and pioneered sounds that were enjoyed around the world. They created timeless music and their sound will hit dance floors for generations to come. The robots will truly be missed but never forgotten. 💕

Happy Monday! Last week we sat down with DJ G-String who is making her return to the EDM scene. She has deep roots in the EDM community and had some great insight on the early years of EDM in Chicago. She recently released two tracks on Spotify (Tiloi & These Feelings) which also contain her vocals. She has a few more releases planned for the coming months. She was an absolute pleasure to speak with and I cant wait to see what she has in store for the rest of the year. Hope you all enjoy this one!

We are in danger. We know we’ve asked before, but NOW is the time to use your voice to help save the independent music industry.

Please head to saveourstages.com and use the form provided to ask your reps to support the RESTART Act, which provides federal funding for Phase 6 businesses like ours. 🆘

Chris and Keegan share their journey through EDM and how they curated underground raves! These dudes are the real deal and brought their dream to reality with the help of our amazing EDM community. We will be attending their July 4th event and we hope to see you out there! Be sure to follow their page, Raveyard Productions, for all event information.

PS) We are donating $200 to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund. We are hoping our following will help match our donation! (It only takes 200 people to donate $1!) The NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc. is America’s premier legal organization fighting for racial justice. Through litigation, advocacy, and public education, LDF seeks structural changes to expand democracy, eliminate disparities, and achieve racial justice in a society that fulfills the promise of equality for all Americans. LDF also defends the gains and protections won over the past 75 years of civil rights struggle and works to improve the quality and diversity of judicial and executive appointments. We appreciate any and all support :)

Its Turnip Twosday! The first track comes from Eliminate titled "Snake Bite VIP VIP". VIP stands for "variation in production", which means this is the third version of Snake Bite. The track is slowed to a super groovy vibration that makes you want to move like you're in the matrix. I love hearing a fast build up and then being hit with a slow groovy drop!

The next track comes to us from the entire Disciple crew. This is their second of two "Mega Collabs" where everyone on the record label added a piece to the song. The track is titled "We Don't Play". The song lists each artist and then plays a snippet of their particular sound. I remember hearing this track live and thinking to myself... how creative! What a unique way to advertise your label by offering each artist's sound to give the listener a chance to potentially dig further into more sounds from that artist! Oh, and the track absolutely slaps!

This weeks EDMtv Music Video Monday is from GRiZ. The track is called "Hard Times" and contains a range of different vibes. The music video perfectly portrays that even in tough conditions like rain at an outdoor concert, humans can still thrive and enjoy life! Remember, no matter how hard life gets, we are all in this together! Don't be afraid to reach out to those you care about and remind them how much they mean to you :)

Today’s wcw goes to Alison Wonderland. This chick knows how make the crowd feel. She can take you from heavy bass to melodic symphony’s. She’s definitely not afraid to express herself on stage. She has worked extremely hard to be recognized as one of the top producers/DJ’s. She also helped raise over $100,000 for her native country, Australia, after the wildfires.

Its Turnip Twosday! The first track is the recent release from Excision and ILLENIUM featuring I Prevail titled "Feel Something". I've personally been waiting for this release when I caught it live at Lost Lands Music Festival. Excision and Illenium closed out the festival with this track during their B2B! That moment in time will forever be engrained in my brain. The next track is an oldie but goodie. It comes to us from Mr. Carmack and Alexander Lewis. The track title is "Pay For What" by Mr. Carmack and Alex threw some bodacious horns on it to make this dope track even doper! If you're a fan of trap horns, then you'll love this track!

Hope you all were able to enjoy the beautiful day! Today we add throw back Thursday to our Vibe Check weekly series. We are going to post monumental moments in EDM. Our first moment is the inception of Electric Forest Music Festival in 2011, formerly know as Rothbury. This year marks its 10 year anniversary. Electric Forest has built a reputation of setting the standard for what a music festival can be. Many artists have labeled the music festival as a must stop. They heavily promote sustainability and reward those who help to "leave no trace" in a creative way! This place was my home away from home and I've enjoyed watching it evolve over the years. I cherish the early years and embrace its future. Everyone should be able to experience a weekend in that forest!

Every Wednesday we will portray a different female who has a deep passion for EDM. SuperDre from Detroit, MI definitely fits the bill. She's playing Electric Forest Music Festival this year and has played there in years past. If you found yourself grooving at Billy's Lounge on a Monday night, this girl was a big reason for that. She was one of the head promoters for BassBin. She currently has a music technology startup called fourtifeye which is a data analytics platform for musicians. She is also part owner of Motu Viget Spirits here in Grand Rapids. I personally saw her open for Pretty Lights and man, this girl can groove! We hope she, and you, enjoy our little montage video :) and we hope to have her on the podcast someday!

Reaching Out: We hope you are tucked safely in your cocoon waiting out these terrifying times with family and friends. With all the constantly-changing information coming at us from all angles, we want to highlight one very urgent point: as a society, we have severely limited time to make immediate & drastic changes to avoid a catastrophe. And the good news is, some other countries have already done this AND SUCCEEDED. They led the way, so let’s learn from them and move quickly to flatten the curve:

Confirmed COVID-19 cases 2 weeks ago (3/6)
*******************************************************
China: 80,651
South Korea: 6,593
Italy: 4,636
United States: 289

Confirmed COVID-19 cases yesterday (3/19)
*******************************************************
China: 80,967 (+316)
South Korea: 8,565 (+1,972)
Italy: 41,035 (+36,399)
United States: 13,474 (+13,185)

⚠️ South Korea has been working hard to flatten the curve - here's how they're doing it: https://time.com/5804899/u-s-coronavirus-needs-follow-s-korea

Want to know how they're accomplishing this?
*******************************************************
1. Mass testing: made widely and freely available - this info helps planning + treatment
2. Communicating information to the people clearly + effectively + honestly
3. Social distancing: "we are all potential links in the transmission chain"
4. Protect healthcare workers: getting them the proper equipment needed to keeping them safe ASAP
5. Expect/plan for increased cases, and scale up supplies, masks, ventilators, hospitals, etc.

We know from the success in China & South Korea that the entire society had to make bold, unprecedented moves [two massive populations on temporary quarantine!] and this requires extreme sacrifice, discipline, and cooperation. We are incredibly privileged to live in such wealthy, luxurious societies, and that privilege confers responsibility to work together in times of crisis.

Information is Beautiful. And this information is Urgent.

13/03/2020

With regards to the news that Deja Voom has been cancelled due to the global pandemic COVID-19, our team is obviously disappointed - as artists and dreamers we have been working tirelessly this past year to bring you an absolutely magical experience...

But as human beings living through this global emergency; fun, parties, and concerts are the last things on our minds right now. We are viscerally concerned about the health, safety and well-being of our friends and family, as well as our communities and our society at large.

This situation requires patience, courage, discipline, calm, generosity, compassion, conscientiousness, a respect for science and facts, and an earnest resolve to love thy neighbor and treat others how we wish to be treated: a commitment to rise to the challenge of caring for those around us, for cooperating instead of competing: to prioritize the health and well-being of everyone in our communities and our society.

And to us, this is the crux and the focus of the pandemic: working together to calmly and mindfully slow the spread of this virus to protect our friends and family who are at a high risk. You have the chance to participate in a worldwide revolution, and you can literally help save the day.

What you can do right now to help Save The Grammas:

> Work with your community to avoid spreading or contracting COVID-19.
> Practice careful personal hygiene everywhere, at home, at work.
> Practice social distancing by staying home when possible, and temporarily avoiding large crowds.
> Prepare to care for your non-severe illness at home: be mindful of your housemates and communicate as a team.
> Protect yourself, avoid sharing or spreading germs, build your immune system with vitamin C, supplements, get lots of sleep and drink lots of water.

> And if you are just feeling anxious and concerned, that is ok! These are extreme times. Here are some resources for you! https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/about/coping.html

Let’s pitch in for the general health of everyone. If you are in a situation where you could leave the house do something you enjoy, and leaving the house runs the heightened risk of contracting a virus which won’t kill you, and you could spread to other people who COULD die from it, don’t leave the house. Why not take one for the team and practice extra care, even if it feels like a sacrifice. And honestly: maybe this can be some much needed creative time to reflect, read, meditate, exercise, or relax.

If you have to interact in public, at work, or on an errand, make sure to keep a safe distance from others, and just be mindful: allow others to practice social distancing [like a smile instead of a handshake] without teasing them or making it weird. Make those around you feel comfortable by taking extra care, and take initiative to feel comfortable taking extra care despite how others might feel.

For now, drastic changes to our behavior and social customs are immediately required for the well-being of those around us: mindfulness, extra care, social distancing, enhanced hygiene, choosing to temporarily avoid large social gatherings, going without some of the luxuries of entertainment and everyday life.

Obviously, this situation sucks - let’s deal with the disappointment another time, and celebrate like mad when it’s over.

And if we all work together now as a team, swiftly and with dedicated cooperation, we can slow the spread of this virus and move closer to getting this under control as soon as possible.

Best Wishes,
Be Interactive & The Bassnectar Team

Appreciation post:

Hard to put our thoughts into words but here we go. This project started 3 months ago. In 3 months we’ve been able to produce 13 episodes while also balancing work, family, relationships etc. We couldn’t have done it without the support from the people who believe in our project and have helped promote it! The EDM community is a beautiful one, filled with amazing individuals! Each person we meet helps solidify that statement. From the bottom of our hearts... thank you! Thank you Sean Hamilton for our dope social media logo! Thank you Tyler Knighton for being our first guest and helping spread the word! Thank you Mike Rønan for linking us up with a plethora of local DJ’s. Thank you Sammy Polaroid for the dope intro graphic! Thank you Jesse Fish Gayle for the sick intro tune! Thank you to all of our guests for believing in us and taking time out of your schedules to vibe with us The Bass Brothers, Flats Stanlie, Cody Hickox, Michal Menert, Kompany, PVNCY, Team Turnup L.L.C.
