The girls soccer team held their senior night to honor the six seniors. Not only was it senior night but it was the last home game of the season. The seniors and the rest of the team worked together to beat Seguin with a final score of 2 to 1. Great job ladies on the win and we seniors will be missed.

It is with great pride we get to congratulate Eliron Rosin for being accepted into the US Naval Academy. Eliron is a very active senior here at Veterans. Eliron is a member of the cyber security club and has competed all four years and will be competing at state in a few weeks. He is also member of JROTC, varsity tennis, and media team.

It was a busy weekend for the top students on the media team. The team was competing at the state media competition in Austin, Texas. The students did an amazing job as a team. The team tied with Duncanville HS with a 95% overall, ranked as ready to be used and posted for news about the overall competition. The team walked away with the two medals the maximum number of medals a school can receive at competition. The team received medals in broadcasting and in social media. The media team was able to accomplish this after having to move up deadlines by 4 to 5 hours so we could cover the boys basketball games. The individual team members were ranging from 90% to 100%. The team consisted of Devan, Frida, Miranda, Ivy, Ben, Conner, and Gael. Each member was in the top three of their individual section. Very proud of this team and all that they have accomplished this year.

Today the senior class started the senior events that will end with graduation. Seniors spent the day playing kickball while the underclass man were testing.

The varsity basketball team showed what they are made of tonight. Every player on the team that took the court had a very instrumental role in tonight’s upset over the 6th ranked team in the state. The Patriots won in OT by two points to advance to round 4. Congratulations guys on your win tonight looking forward to Friday night.

The varsity softball team got the win tonight with a final score of 10 to 5 over Kennedy. The softball team will open district play next Tuesday against Canyon.

Today Veterans held is first annual ring ceremony for juniors. This is a tradition a many schools throughout the state and country. Prior to the official start of their senior year juniors will receive their ring that is given to them by their parents. This symbolizes their senior year is going to start in just a few months. For many parents tonight this was the first time they thought about their child walking the stage and possibly beginning a new life away from home, a few parents had a couple of tears in their eyes. To the class of 2024 you will soon walk the halls as seniors following traditions started by the classes of 22 and 23 and adding to those traditions adding to the story of Patriot Nation.

It’s time for round 3 and this will be the game to watch in the state on Tuesday. Number 6 and the number 7 teams in the state playing against each other. Let’s go Patriots!!!

The VMHS varsity baseball team came to win it this morning as they took on Madison HS. The bats were swinging, the base runners we’re moving and the defense was on point. The great work lead to a 7 to 6 victory for the Patriots.

The varsity boys took on San Houston Hurricanes this evening in the area playoffs of the basketball tournament. It was a hard fought game and every point was earned . Tonight’s game showed teamwork determination and practice does a great job. Area champions for the second time,

The softball team was in action today and took on Churchill. The girls came to the game looking for a win and that is what they got. Congratulations on the win today ladies.

Thursday night the Patriots track and field team took to Hero’s stadium to do their very best. When announcing the winners of events Veterans was heard in the top 6 for most events. Great job Patriots.

The very first Veterans Memorial fiesta medal is on sale until March 2,2023. The cost of the medal is $10. To order the medal we have added a link in our bio or you can use the ar code. Proceeds from medal sale will help get more equipment for the media team so we can continue to improve our coverage. Interesting fact the media team does everything we do without using district supplied equipment or get any district funding to provide the coverage we do.

It was a great day at the baseball diamond at Veterans tonight. Varsity baseball pitchers came to win tonight as the team defeated Judson HS with a score of 13 to 6. Shout out to senior Jason Cantù for closing out the game. Seniors Jalen and Dion along with underclassmen Izik delivered some amazing hits to help secure the win tonight. The varsity team was not the winners tonight as JV won over Judson as well. Great job Patriots!!

Veterans Memorial HS will be offering a broadcasting class next year. In this class you will learn how to work behind the camera as well in front of the camera. Students in the class will be filming short films, tv shows, documentaries, and commercials. The class is under the CTE digital media section on the course selection. It falls under the digital communications pathway.

Want to congratulate two of the top wrestlers in the state. At todays finals at the state tournament in wrestling two Patriots took to the podium and won medals. Xander work he way to be named the six best wrestler in the state while Torrance worked his way to the fifth best wrestler in the state. Congratulations to the two wrestlers and coach Allen and Coach K along with all the wrestlers who placed and earned medals this season. .wrestling

The track and field team competed at their first track meet of the year last night. In typical fashion the Steele meet lived up the cools nights it’s known for. The Patriots started the season off right with several top finishes in several events.

The VMHS National Honor Society spent the morning at one of San Antonio’s food banks getting boxes ready for the weekly distribution. NHS joins the many organizations that have given their time to help at various food banks throughout this school year so far.

Boerne Champion came to the bunker looking for a win but the Patriot boys basketball team worked as a team to deny Boerne the win. The Patriots get the win with the final score of 60 to 44. Tonight was senior night and a night we celebrate back to back district championship, congratulations coach Perez and the rest of the coaching staff and players on a great game. Thank you for all the fans that came out to support the Patriots tonight especially the youngest member of the Patriot family.

Let’s white out the bunker tomorrow night in honor of the boys basketball district championship. It’s senior night and the last home game of the regular season. Dress in your best white patriot gear and get your face painted in the cafeteria during lunch, STUCO will be painting faces. The media team will be walking around getting pictures of the most spirited at lunch and at the game.

The final home game of the regular season for the boys basketball team. Game time is at 6:30 for varsity and 5:00 for JV and freshman. Show up in white to show your support. If you need your face painted STUCO will be in the cafeteria during all lunches. The media team will be around at lunch and and at the game to capture the most spirited Patriots.

Every year the wrestling program at Veterans is getting better and better. Today at regionals the guys team was successful bringing home three metals and sending all three to the state tournament next weekend. Torrance brought home 1st place, Xander brought home the 2nd place and Caden brought home s 3rd place finish. The boys place 8 overall at regionals in a pool of over 40 team, the girls placed 23. Seeing the ladies in action this year and knowing they are all returning next year we definitely will see a lot more from wrestling next year. Congratulations to all the wrestlers who placed at any of the tournaments and for this who advanced from district to regionals. Great job wrestlers for making Veterans stand out this year.

The varsity softball team brought it again at the tournament in Medina Valley, the ladies won two games and had a total of three home runs by two outstanding Patriots. Great job ladies on your games keep up the hard work.
