A green transformer box I made for Killing Floor (2009), modeled in 3DS Max, and Textured in Substance Designer, while the UVs were laid out using RizomUV. I baked in my own Ambient Occlusion map in 3DS Max as the one in Substance Designer was not to my liking. Also, the reason for so many polys is because the old Unreal Engines used what is called "Vertex Lighting", and light is computed in a different way then how it is done today with Light Maps. Each vertex in a combination of 3 (Usually in a triangle) determines how and were the shadows in the game engine will be baked in per polygon. So, more polygons means better shadows in theory, but it also depends on the situation.
