Videos have emerged showing the dead bodies of 150 villagers in Sudan’s Wad- al-Nour, within the state of Gezira.

Many believe that this is the aftermath of a massacre led by the Rapid Support Forces, under the leadership of Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo ("Hemedti”).
RSF took to X, explaining that the paramilitary group attacked the village to counter “three strategic camps” belonging to the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF). The paramilitary group celebrated their successful seizure of “four fully equipped combat vehicles”, and other military ammunition.

In response, the SAF under the command of General Abdul Fattah al-Burhan, have proclaimed their vengeance on X, threatening a harsh response against the RSF.

While details are still unfolding, many believe that the death toll is expected to rise, with the village’s football field converting into a mass grave.

On March 8, the UN Security Council passed a resolution calling for a Ramadan ceasefire in Sudan.

The proposal urged all military parties “to ensure the removal of any obstructions and enable full, rapid, safe and unhindered humanitarian access.”

However, reports are circulating that the Sudanese Armed Forces are denying prospects of a truce during the month of Ramadan. It is alleged that Yasser al-Atta, a deputy commander, took to Telegram to rule out the truce, unless the Rapid Support Forces withdraw from civilian homes and public sites.

Meanwhile, the Rapid Support Forces condemned the SAF on X, alleging that they have refused the RSF’s proposal to release 537 SAF prisoners. The RSF explained that the proposed release would have served as a “gesture of goodwill during…Ramadan”, yet SAF’s rejection demonstrates “the disregard of General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan and his corrupt co-conspirators toward the welfare of their soldiers and officers.”

This tit-for-tat has merely exacerbated the civil war, which will soon enter into its 11th month.

UNRWA is under investigation ‼️

The United Nations Relief Agency for Palestine Refugees is currently being investigated by an independent organisation due to concerns of neutrality obligations.

The concerns were sparked by Israel - who alleged that UNRWA employees were part of the October 7 attacks.

Many countries decided to defund the organisation, further exacerbating the humanitarian crisis in Gaza.

The investigation intends to address the allegations and restore public trust.

On March 1st, Nicaragua filed an application to the ICJ against Germany. The South American country has convicted Germany for allegedly violating the Geneva Convention, the Genocide Convention, their General Protocols, and general rules of International Law.

Nicaragua alleges that Germany’s provision of political, financial and military support to Israel, coupled with its defunding of UNRWA, has collectively facilitated Germany’s “commission of [the] genocide”.

The application also requests the court’s passing of provisional measures to protect the rights of Palestinians, “as a matter of extreme urgency”.

The ICJ will likely organise a public sitting with both parties, to determine if the case falls within the court’s jurisdiction, and if provisional measures are necessary. However- details of such hearing are yet to be revealed.

The United States has exercised its veto powers to block a resolution calling for a ceasefire in Gaza.

US Ambassador Linda Thomas-Greenfield claimed that “hard diplomacy” takes time, and that the UNSC should not take steps to “hinder…ongoing sensitive negotiations”. She explained that a number of parties are participating in sensitive negotiations, and that the timing of the draft resolution is not suitable. She also flagged that a number of the US’ suggestions were ignored int eh drafting of the resolution.

Greenfield clarified that the US will likely propose a seperate ceasefire resolution that will promote the release of all hostages. If adopted, Greenfield alleged that the draft resolution will be “the first time the Council condemned Hamas”.

Turkey’s President has arrived in for his first visit in over 10 years.

The visit is the first of its kind after a decade-long dispute between both countries- due to conflicting interests in both the Libya conflict, and the Eastern Mediterranean maritime dispute.

However, there was hope for change when Sisi and Erdogan were photographed shaking hands at the World Cup in November last year.

During the joint press conference, Erdogan promised to “cooperate and stand in solidarity with..[Egypt] to put an end to the bloodshed in Gaza”.

Both leaders also agreed to promoting bilateral trade relations, with Egypt aspiring to increase trade by $15bn.

Israel has rescued two hostages in Rafah, amidst concerns of a ground invasion.

The rescue operation has raised concerns of a ground invasion of Rafah, considering the recent announcement by Netanyahu ordering the evacuation of civilians in .

In a public statement, Israel’s Prime Minister claimed that a victory would not be possible without the elimination of ‘four Hamas battalions in Rafah’. This has led to the establishment of a ‘combined plan for evacuating the population and destroying the battalions’.

Many have criticised the evacuation plan, considering that Rafah is home to at least 2.3 million displaced Palestinians. Others fear that an evacuation will force Palestinians out of Rafah, and potentially into Egypt, who shares the Rafah border.

And with this rescue operation, many fear that the IDF will soon begin the Rafah invasion.

As part of Egypt’s “urgent social package”, President El-Sisi will raise the monthly minimum wage by 50% to 6000 EGP.

In his statement, El-Sisi also directed a 1000-1200 EGP increase in government employees’ monthly wages, which will vary on their experience and rank.

These changes will take effect in March, aiming to mitigate the country’s inflated economy which faces risks of devaluation.

The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia had released a statement asserting that they will not reconvene relations Israel until an independent Palestinian state is established

KSA clarified that the state must reflect the 1967 borders and hold East Jerusalem as its capital. The statement also requires the cessation of Israel’s military campaign in Gaza.

Many believe that the statement is an attempt to debunk America’s assertions that Israel-KSA relations would continue despite the war.

The will deliver its Order on the ‘Request for Provisional Measures’ this Friday.

Whilst the World Court is not yet required to reach a verdict regarding Israel’s alleged genocide, Article 41 of its Statute empowers it to consider ‘any provisional measures which ought to be taken to preserve the respective rights of either party’.

Requested by South Africa on January 11, these measures include Israel’s ‘suspension of military operations in and against Gaza’ and the implementation of ‘reasonable measures within [Israel’s] power to prevent genocide’.

These orders aim to protect the rights of Palestinians until a verdict is reached, which will likely take a number of years.

announced its withdrawal from the ‘Intergovernmental Authority On Development’.

The Sudanese Government alleged that the IGAD interfered with the country’s internal affairs. This comes after IGAD’s inclusion of an item on Sudan during the 42nd ExtraOrdinary Session, which the Sudanese government deemed as a threat to sovereignty.

The eight-country trade bloc is tasked with promoting peace and stability within Africa, and has attempted mediation efforts between the Sudanese Army and Rebel Support Forces.

Iran’s Health Minister has announced the killing of 96 civilians in an alleged terror attack.

South Africa has initiated proceedings in the International Court of Justice, against the State of Israel.

In its application, South Africa convicts Israel of committing genocidal acts against the “Palestinian people of Gaza”.

South Africa also requests the upholding of Article 41 in the Statute of the Court, which empowers the Court’s undertaking of measures which preserve the “rights of rights of either party”

During yesterday’s press conference, PM Netanyahu directly refuted South Africa’s allegations, instead convicting Hamas of perpetuating genocide.

Many believe that the case will take years to settle, but an interim order may be made within weeks.
