(THE FIRST AFRICAN ARCHITECT TO WIN PRITZKER PRIZE)
Diebedo Francis Kere is Burkinabè architect ,Born in Gando Burkina Faso on 10th April 1965.
On Tuesday ,15th march, 2022 a Burkina Faso born Diebedo Francis Kere was awarded the architecture's most prestigious award , the Pritzker Prize and became, the first African and black person to win the honor in its more than 40-year history
The prize is often referred to as the Nobel Prize of architecture.Kere highly esteemed work, including permanent and temporary structures, has been erected in his country of birth, but also across Africa, Europe and the United States.
Kere Diebedo is renowned for building schools, health facilities, housing, civic buildings, and public spaces across Africa, including Benin, Burkina Faso, Mali, Togo, Kenya, Mozambique and Sudan. He will officially be named Pritzker laureate at a ceremony in London later this year. As with previous winners, he will be awarded a U.S.$100,000 grant and a bronze medal.
In an interview with AFP, after receiving the award Kere said he was the "happiest man on this planet" to become the 51st recipient of the illustrious prize since it was first awarded in 1979. "I have a feeling of an overwhelming honour but also a sense of responsibility," he added.

In 2017, Kere designed the Serpentine pavilion in London's Hyde Park, a prestigious assignment given to a world-famous architect every year.
He was also one of the architects behind Geneva's International Red Cross and Red Crescent Museum
Kere held solo museum shows in Munich and Philadelphia.
