👉 India's road 🛣️ network is 56 lakh km long and milestones are colour coded to distinguish between national highways, state highways and village roads.

👉 If you see a yellow stripped milestone on the side of the road, that means, you are on a national highway.🚸

👉 If you see a green stripped milestone on the side of the road, that means, you are on a state highway.🚦

👉 Blue or black and white strips on city or main district road.

👉 Orange strips on village🏡 roads.

➡️What is 'zero mile centre ❓

👉 'Zero mile centre' was the spot British used as a reference point to measure distances to all other cities. Nagpur served as the 'zero mile centre' and thus served as the geographical centre of colonial India.

👉 This centre has four horses and a sandstone pillar that contains a list giving the exact distance by road to India's major cities.

The charismatic Indian socialist revolutionary’s dramatic violence against the British made him the hero of Indian Independence movement. He sacrificed his life for our country and 16 years after his death, India won freedom.

👉The young freedom fighter dedicated his entire life to the country. Today, on September 28, on his birth anniversary let us remember the brave soul.

➡️Abhinav Bindra participated in the Commonwealth Games at the age of 14. He was the youngest participant in the 1998 Commonwealth Games.

➡️In 2000, he was awarded the Arjuna Award.

➡️In 2001, he was awarded the highest sports award Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award, and a bronze at Munich World Cup

➡️In 2006, Abhinav Bindra became the first Indian shooter to win a gold medal in the World Championship in Zagreb

➡️In the 2008 Olympics, Abhinav Bindra won the gold medal in Beijing Olympics, bringing the first individual gold medal in India

➡️In 2009, Abhinav Bindra was awarded the Padma Bhushan Award, the third-highest civilian award

➡️In 2011, Abhinav Bindra was awarded the Honorary Lieutenant Colonel by Indian Territorial Army

➡️In the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games, Abhinav Bindra won a gold medal.

➡️At the Rio 2016 Summer Olympics, Bindra finished 4th in the finals of the 10m Air Rifle Event

➡️On September 5, 2016, Bindra announced his retirement.

➡️Flt Lt Singh, who studied at the Banaras Hindu University, will officially join the Ambala-based No 17 squadron, also known as 'Golden Arrows', after the completion of conversion training.

➡️Earlier this month, Minister of State for Defence Shripad Naik told Parliament that 1,875 women officers are currently serving in the IAF. Out of 1,875, 10 are fighter pilots and 18 are navigators, said Naik.

🔸➡️ Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar born Ishwar Chandra Bandyopadhyay was an Indian educator and social reformer. His efforts to simplify and modernise Bengali prose were significant. He also rationalised and simplified the Bengali alphabet and type, which had remained unchanged since Charles Wilkins and Panchanan Karmakar had cut the first (wooden) Bengali type in 1780. He is considered the "father of Bengali prose.

Gandhi's call was for a nationwide protest against the Rowlatt Act. All offices and factories would be closed
➡️ Bal Gangadhar Tilak, called “Maker of Modern India” by Mahatma Gandhi and “Father of the Indian Revolution” by Jawaharlal Nehru, helped lay the foundation for Indian swaraj (self-rule). He introduced Hindu symbolism and Maratha traditions into the nationalist movement, initiated the passive resistance that later characterized Gandhi's noncooperation program (satyagraha), and headed the Lucknow Pact.

✓ Less than a month after signing the Punjab accord, Longowal was assassinated by the Sikh militants opposed to the accord. Longowal was shot and killed on 20 August 1985 near the gurdwara in village Sherpur, 90 km from Patiala in Punjab. Assassin Halwinder Singh fired bullets from a point blank range at Longowal.
✓ Gulzarilal Nanda (4 July 1898 – 15 January 1998) was an Indian politician and economist who specialized in labour issues. He was the Prime Minister of India for two short periods following the deaths of Jawaharlal Nehru in 1964 and Lal Bahadur Shastri in 1966.
✓ Post-independence, Aruna Asif Ali worked towards the upliftment of the status of women by encouraging women education. She also started a weekly journal 'Weekly' and newspaper 'Patriot' to attain this objective.
✓ The word 'Mamluk' means 'owned' in the Arabic language. Since the Sultans of this dynasty were earlier slaves or were the sons of former slaves, the Mamluk dynasty came to be known as the slave dynasty.
