Well folks, the poets knocked our socks off at the Genesis Poetry Slam Final so much it's taken us a week and a half to find our socks, pop them back on and post online about it all.

A HUGE congratulations to all of our phenomenal 2023 finalists - every one of you totally smashed it and the bar was super high! But there can only be one winner and we're delighted to confirm the news (if you haven't already heard) that our 2023 CHAMPION is the one and only Jake Nathan!

From all our crew, it's a massive congratulations to Jake and a big thank you to all our finalists: Sam Carder, Danny Mash, Jah-Mir Early, Henry Maddicott, Red Frederick, Takunda Muzvondiwa, Arkadia and Kayla Martell Feldman. Plus a enormous shout-out to the tip-top Antonia Jade King, who slayed with her feature set and Nathalia Khawand for being a fantastic sacrificial!

The Genesis Slam crew will now be OUT TO LUNCH on a well-earned break, but we'll be back ready to kick off our 2024 season in February so watch this space! We wish you all a wonderful holiday season, a happy new year and we'll see you back at the Genesis Cinema in February!

Oh, what's that? On top of all those amazing slammers in the Genesis Poetry Slam final, there's also a HEADLINE SET from that absolute GOAT Antonia Jade King?! Yes there is!

Antonia Jade King (she/her) is a Leo and loyal member of the Beyhive. She was also one of the hosts of Boomerang Club, and is a previous Hammer & Tongue finalist. She has featured at Poetry and Shaah and Heaux Noire and was part of Apples and Snakes Writing Room programme in 2018. She has performed at numerous events including Love Supreme festival and Rallying Cry at Battersea Arts Centre. She was also a Barbican Young Poet and her debut pamphlet 'She Too Is a Sailor' is out with Bad Betty Press.

We're blessed at Genesis Poetry Slam to have some of the best poets agreeing to sacrifice themselves on the alter of language.

Your SACRIFICIAL POET for the Genesis Grand Slam Final on Thursday is the fantastic Nathalia Khawand!

Nathalia moved to London last year from the Middle East, bringing with her tons of (emotional) baggage and a loud voice to carry it with.

They are a founding member of Sovereign Writers Group and co-host of the monthly spoken word night Process Productions Open Mic. Hello darlings,

You might have noticed we've been a little quiet lately. Don't worry, you haven't missed an episode and there's nothing wrong with your podcast feed.

Over the past couple of months, we've had an unexpected change in personal circumstances within the crew which has meant that between us we simply haven't had the headspace or time to dedicate to the show.

Dead Darlings has always been fully DIY - we don't have any sponsorship, advertising or arts council funding. It's something we do together because we enjoy it and that means sometimes life has to take priority and the podcast has to take a backseat. And that's OK.

So right now we're officially on a very amicable break.

All three members of our crew are constantly sending each other pics of our Halloween pumpkins and when the time is right we'll get the show back on the road.
