The Ruckus Podcast - The Interview: Gilda

Though you've come to know the Ruckus for the madness we do pride ourselves with providing our listeners with useful information on serious topics. And, unless you've been under a rock for the last few weeks, you've probably heard about massive uprisings going on in Cuba and in the United States as Cubans and Cuban Americans protest the oppressive Cuban regime.

We've commented minimally on the subject, partly cause we don't know what we are talking about. So, we were excited when Cuban political immigrant, Gilda, dropped by the show to share her experience as a political exile. She dropped knowledge on the Cuban revolution, her feelings towards the recent protests and shares her vision for Cuba's future.

The audio is a bit rough, and we apologize for, but if you can get over that technical glitch you'll be inspired.

The Ruckus Podcast - Episode 19: Rating the Classics: Pt. 1

Because what would life be without music?

It'd be sh*tty as f**k, and that's why the crew embarked on what has been the most interesting segment in our podcast's short history.

Instead of just talking music, the crew decided to study music in order to understand what makes an album "classic". To do this, we set out to listen to the top 10 albums on Rolling Stone's list of 500 Best Albums of All-Time.

Though the Rolling Stone's list has its issues, the crew decided it would be good to change gears a little bit, listen to music outside of our comfort zones and try to identify what makes "good music".

On this episode we wade through Lauryn Hill's "The Miseducation...", Prince's "Purple Rain" and Bob Dylan's "Blood on the Tracks."

One of our more "controlled" episodes, our hope is to explore new music, even if it's "old", and create a space where you, our listener, is exposed to music you might not have listened to before.

This bout to be a trip through time, so get them head phones on and dive into the Ruckus.
