Black History Month - James Baldwin
The Advocate Channel’s celebration of Black History Month continues with author James Baldwin. Born in Harlem in 1924, he trained as a preacher before becoming a writer and moving to Paris. He went on to write some of the greatest works in American literature, including ‘Go Tell It On the Mountain,’ ‘Notes of a Native Son’ and ‘Giovanni’s Room,’ exploring racial tension and queer relationships.

Buckingham Palace announced today that King Charles III has been diagnosed with a form of cancer, less than a year into his reign. As the king planned to postpone public-facing duties, the Prince of Wales is to return to public duties this week, while Prince Harry is set to fly back to the UK to visit his father.

Black History Month - Tracy Chapman
Our celebration of Black History Month continues with musician and social activist Tracy Chapman, the first Black woman to win a Country Music Association Award for her hit song “Fast Car,” performed by Luke Combs. Chapman has also produced educational music videos to highlight achievements in African-American history for Cleveland schools.
Pride Today - Kandi Burruss
Kandi Burruss is taking a break from ‘The Real Housewives of Atlanta,’ and Pride Today’s Ricky Cornish was at the Grammys to talk to her about it. “They did ask me to come back, and I just felt like they gave us too much time to think, and during that time I started working on some other projects,” she said.

Black History Month - Ma Rainey
The Advocate Channel observes Black History Month and the Grammys by celebrating Ma Rainey, often called the Mother of the Blues. Her work reflected her experiences as an openly bisexual Black woman in America during the early 20th century. Rainey is in the Blues Hall of Fame, the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, and has a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award, and has been portrayed in films like the award-winning “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom.”
