Day trip to London to see Wicked again! I absolutely love this musical, putting a great spin on the story of the witches of Oz, and does a great job portraying and message of acceptance, it's magical.

And from there we took a spur of the moment trip to see the Lion King, which must be the most beautiful show on the West End!
The Wildebeest scene will always blow me away, it's just so impressive!

On a day out to Battersea Children's Zoo, we popped across to the newly opened Battersea Power Station shopping centre.
Making good use of a site that's sat abandoned for so long.
And the Lego Store even had a Lego Battersea Power Station inside!

While in Scotland we visited Loch Leven. A beautiful spot not too far from Edinburgh, saw lots of wildlife including Red Squirrels, Chiffchaffs, Long Tailed T**s. And then some melanistic Pheasants, which I'm guessing are part of a collection of whoever owns the land.

We finally went to see Agatha Christies The Mousetrap.
And I must say it's an incredible show, I can certainly see why it's lasted 70 years.
It was a lot funnier than I expected it to be, and it keeps you guessing. During the intermission we were discussing who we thought did it, and what secrets the characters were hiding. We were right about some of it, but also very wrong about others.
The twist ending ties the whole story up in a very satisfying way.
Naturally I'm not going to spoil it here, if you want to know who dunnit, you'll have to go find out for yourself.

While in Edinburgh we headed to the Edinburgh Dungeon.
The 4th Dungeon I've done.
I loved how it tied into the local history, changing what is normally a plague doctor room for Doctor Knox, and following it up with a room about Burk and Hare, which must be one of my favourite bits of Edinburgh history. And then using Mary King Street to talk about how the Plague was handled socially rather than medically.
This might be my favourite Dungeon yet.

We visited a zoo specialising in taking in rescued exotic animals.
With many sad stories, from a Crocodile kept in a bath in a flat and fed hotdogs, to a Macaque kept in a bedroom in Germany.
There was also a first for me in this zoo, Kinkajous!
A small zoo doing an amazing job!

Day 1 of the Aalst Carnaval!!!
The parade started at 2 and lasted until around 10:30! With impressive floats and comedic "loose" groups.
Followed by a party in the square!
Now to rest for day 2!

Tower Hill is a beautiful place to walk around at any point of the day, but Tower Bridge adds a special element all lit up at night.

Montreal Botantical Gardens.
The greenhouses here are amazing, well laid out with a 3D map at the beginning.
It's not just plants, but also themed to the environment the species are from, bringing a whole new depth to Botanical Gardens.

The beautiful flowers and plants at Montreal Botanical Gardens are a sight to see.
Their greenhouses are laid out in such an informative and stylised manner I'd challenge anyone to not be captivated and impressed.
Travelling through rooms of different countries, eco systems, and species, giving you such a wide variety to enjoy.

Mont Royal in Montreal (where Montreal gets its name from) looks absolutely gorgeous in the fall colours! With a tranquil walk up through the woods, to a couple of lookout points with stunning views over the city.
A wonderful place to visit at any time if the year, but especially in the autumn.

Although based in the fictional South Coast Town of Walmington-On-Sea, Dad's army wasn't filmed on the South Coast, in fact it wasn't filmed in a coastal town at all. It was filmed in Thetford!
And the town has an amazing trail you can follow taking you around filming locations, including the bank and Jones' butchers.
At the very start of the trail there's a path laid out as one of the Union Flag markers from the shows opening, leading to a bench with a statue of Captain Mainwaring sat on it!

tracker for Apollo XI has now sadly stopped working. It's been a pleasure to follow your journey up and down the south American coast.
Good luck out there my Penguin buddy.

I'm going to have to get more bracelets soon, both Olive the Turtle and Apollo XI stopped working this year, leaving me Jenga the Elephant to track still!

Last night we saw Matilda the Musical. Having seen the stage adaptation 3 times I must say I was very impressed.
It didn't just feel like a musical film, it's filled with elements that feel very "West End".
I had worried that it would be too over the top with access to all the special effects available in cinema, but it really isn't, and in some elements I'd say it's better than the stage adaptation, such as the chokeys at the end, and they removed Rudolpho, taking it a bit closer to the book, but they also removed Mikey, taking it further away from the book.
I did feel the removal Miss Honeys "Pathetic" damaged her character development a bit, and made the end of "When I grow up" a little less powerful.
However, how the end of "My house" is portrayed visually made it so powerful, I think the moment really impacts.

If you love Matilda, whether that's the stage production, the original film, the book, or a mix of all three, this film is definitely worth your time.
I loved it!

We visited Cley on the North Norfolk Coast, a lovely spot for some bird watching.
The Brent Geese have arrived on migration, and there was a lot of activity, including the Egret, Curlew and Stonechat pictured.
A highly recommend place to visit for experienced and amateur bird watchers alike.

Naturally, if you want to see the Statue of Liberty you head to Paris...right?
Well maybe not, but we did it anyway. This smaller version of the Statue of Liberty is actually older than the one in America, and was used in the design and construction of it.
Then once the American one was completed, this smaller one was gifted back to France on the 100th anniversary of the French Revolution!
