AND HERE WE GO AGAIN.
I don't want to be just negative about this but it seems like we are still going circles about the Lag Issue in WOE/WOC.
So the survey mechanics contains the following:
The survey will require the following submission:
1) Your own video recording (must be the same with the submitted character ID) for WOE or WOC on 18 March, 21 March, 25 March or 28 March. For video files larger than 100M, please upload the video to YouTube and include the links under the [Description of Lag]
2) In-game setting images, engine, and game settings.
3) Description of lag with time markers of the video to highlight issues faced
4) If you are using an Emulator, please also provide screenshots of the display, engine, and game settings.
WHAT I THINK ABOUT THIS:
This survey is basically just a repeat AND an even worse version of what we did last November along with many other big guilds who participated in the server lag troubleshooting. This is something we all spent a lot of time on (voluntarily and without compensation), only holding on to their promise to fix the server as soon as possible.
It's the same thing: (1) full videos of war, (2) time stamps and description of what was happening. But what is missing here now is an even more important data that they asked before which is the (3) "trace test".
THERE IS NO PROGRESS AT ALL:
What's even worse now is, in the current forms there is a section where it says "We highly suspect certain emulators could be the cause of lag."
This is like level 99999 absurdity, insulting and puts us back again to square 1 rather than being able to move forward. Whatever the hell happened to the previous reports and videos of several guilds who participated in the tests? Do they even go visit youtube and community pages where a lot of lag videos are posted?
So now, they are still on (1) device issue, (2) OS issue, (3) ISP issue and not on "SERVER ISSUE".
Well there really is no point anymore in confirming this because they are already very well aware of the situation and claimed that they were already working on a fix on it. Even Addison Kang mentioned about a suggested algorithm change in one of his comments in a post in his page (if I remember correctly).
I appreciate their efforts to finally reach out to the community and finally leveling up their marketing game. It is really really truly good and I would like to commend the new team who handles it.
However, not even godlike level of marketing can save a bad product especially in 2021. Not gonna happen.
So whatever the point of this survey is, let's hope that it will actually lead to something rather than just wasting all our time like what they did to Exodiac and all the other participating guilds few months ago.
