As of 12:00PM today, MARCH 3, the Laoag City Health Office confirms NO COVID -19 POSITIVE CASES for Laoag City and one (1) NEW RECOVERY, making it seven (7) active cases for Laoag.

The City Health Office further adds that the city now has a total of 481 recoveries and a total cases of 488. Also, 4,273 individuals have completed the mandatory 14-day quarantine while 85 are under quarantine. 84 are in city isolation units; 1 in provincial isolation units

The public is strictly advised to continue with the following preventive measures:

🔹Wash your hands frequently with soap and water.
🔹Avoid touching your eyes, nose and mouth.
🔹Cover your cough using the bend of your elbow or a tissue.
🔹Avoid crowded places and close contact with anyone that has fever or cough.
🔹Maintain a 1-meter social distance and use a face mask when going out.
🔹Stay at home if you feel unwell.
🔹If you have a fever, cough and difficulty breathing, seek medical care early- but call first.
🔹Get information from trusted sources.

LAOAG CITY IS ON MODIFIED GENERAL COMMUNITY QUARANTINE (MGCQ) BEGINNING JANUARY 26

In line with the transition from General Community Quarantine to MGCQ, Governor Matthew Marcos Manotoc issues Executive Order no. 114-21, an order declaring Modified General Community Quarantine in the City of Laoag beginning January 26, 2021.

MANDATORY WEARING OF FACE SHIELDS OF ALL PUBLIC TRANSPORT PASSENGERS

In compliance with the Department of Transportation Memorandum Circular No. 2020-014, the City Government of Laoag reminds the mandatory wearing of face shields and face masks of all public transport passengers, starting on August 15. This is to prevent further transmission of COVID-19 in public places.

Note that face shields should not be used as a substitute for face masks. It should be the combination use of both. Based on studies, face shields are reusable and affordable, and require simple cleaning with soap and water or common disinfectants. Also, face shields are comfortable to wear, and form a barrier that keeps people from easily touching their own faces, which is one of the ways to prevent COVID 19 infection. The use of a face shields is also a reminder to maintain social distancing.

The initiative aims to further reduce the risk of transmitting the COVID-19 in public transport facilities as health authorities have pointed out that the use of face shields and masks reduces exposure to and emission of respiratory droplets considerably.

Ilocos Norte makes its record-breaking number of recoveries with IN-C10, IN-C15, IN-C17, IN-C18, IN-C19, IN-C21, IN-C24, IN-C25, IN-C26, and IN-C27 discharged and recovered today, August 12, 2020.

All COVID-19 patients, including suspect and probable cases admitted in our respective hospitals and quarantine facilities, are receiving proper treatment.

Why make covid-19 announcements political? Is political authority causally efficacious to the truth value of a pronouncement? As if the position of the person would make the statement more true and credible? It is the other way around... lab results are empirical enough and credible enough. Where does political authority come in??? It comes in when the data, as soon as available, demand them leaders to be of service to their people by relaying relevant information on time as soon as possible. Delaying it for 4 hours or more is disservice to the people who can get infected for knowing less...

While it is true that only persons in authority can declare true statements with credibility in an age when fake news can assume the guise of immediate truth, delaying such true information does not logically follow from such political privilege. Using the political authority card can only deny false statements... it cannot deny the fact that true statements should be relayed immediately regardless of statistical convenience... 🤔🤔🤔
