Lazarus Mathabele's family is suing Matikwane hospital following his mysterious death outside the hospital in July.

MKHUHLU: Rio-Jab Media has made it again, this time saw to it that the family of the man who died outside the yard of the Matikwane hospital finds justice.
It all started when Lazarus Mathabele (57) got admitted at the Matikwane hospital in Mkhuhlu Mpumalanga over a month ago.
On the early morning hours of July 24, 2024 the unthinkable happened as Mathabele was found dead outside the yard of the hospital.
Members of the community who were going to work found Mathabele's body along the street behind the hospital around 6am.
The hospital was informed after the community realised through a cloth that he was wearing that this was a patient from the hospital.
The nurses rushed to the scene and tried to pick the body up apparently with the sole intention to make it look like he died inside the hospital ward.
Till today the family does not have answers as to how Mathabele left his bed in the ward and ended up dead outside the hospital yard.
Even the hospital itself cannot explain as to what really transpired.
The security guards also did not have any explanation.
That as it may, Rio-Jab Media published a request via its page and Radio Bushbuckridge in search of the victim's family.
Our main aim was to connect the family with the Advocate of the Masses, Advocate DJ Sibuyi, the owner of the Mthunzi Law Chambers in Hazyview to look into the matter.
Mathabele's daughter, known to us as Grace, eventually contacted us and we made an appointment to visit the family in Mkhuhlu Section F.
This was really an effort taking into consideration that we were coming all the way from Limpopo where we operate from.
Rio-Jab Media collected two members of the Mthunzi Law Chambers who accompanied us to the family.
The family explained that they were in great shock and failed to comprehend as to how Mathabele ended up dead outside the hospital yard.
"We did not get a tangible explanation as to what really transpired at the hospital," explained Filizard Mathebula, the widow of Mathabele.
One of Mathabele's sons, Jabulani, said his dad was a breadwinner.
"He worked very hard for the wellbeing of the family. He worked at Basa Farm in the Hazyview area and is surved by his wife and seven children," explained Jabulani.
The family agreed to sign a Power of Attorney form giving authority to Advocate Sibuyi to institute a lawsuit against Matikwane hospital and by extension, the Department of Health.
Just yesterday (Monday August 12, 2024) the department has acknowledged receipt of a letter of demand worth millions of rands from Advocate Sibuyi.
"The poor family whose loved one died outside Matikwane hospital have hope in knowing there is a lawsuit against the Department of Health whose letter of demand amounting to millions of rands was handed over to its doorsteps today," Advocate Sibuyi told Rio-Jab Media yesterday (August 12, 2024).
"We hope to continue to unravel the truth for the hopeless and ensure justice prevails," added Advocate Sibuyi.
Meanwhile the family told Rio-Jab Media that the hospital CEO called them to a meeting where an apology was offered.
"The CEO apologised on behalf of the hospital and asked as to how much we spent for the funeral so we could be refunded," said Jabulani.
"We refused their offer because we knew that if we had accepeted it then it was going to interfere with the Lawsuit," added Jabulani.
Rio-Jab Media will continue fighting for the rights of the poor and vulnerable till justice prevails.
The Mpumalanga Provincial Department of Health has so far not responded to our written inquiry following the patient's death. Ends. Rio-Jab Media

CAPTION: Lazarus Mathabele was found dead outside Matikwane hospital in which he was a patient on July 24, 2024. The family is suing the hospital, thanks to Rio-Jab Media and Advocate DJ Sibuyi.

"Unfortunately, the victims were certified dead at the scene," added Ledwaba.

Rio-Jab Media Exclusive Expose'

Ngirivani Mathebula Land Claim Bogus Committee Chairperson, Elphus Mathebula, is a Mampara for life.

By Riot Hlatshwayo
0712982807

KRUGER NATIONAL PARK: Elphus Mathebula, the Chairperson of a questionable Land Claims "Bogus" Committee has shown the claiments of Ngirivani Land Claim a middle finger.
This after Rio-Jab Media sent him very difficult questions about the alleged shenanigans against the committee he is chairing.
On July 23, 2024 at about 21h00 Rio-Jab Media sent the questions to Mathebula.
This followed damning allegations against the committee that include it allegedly being in an entanglement of corruption and maladministration.
Rio-Jab Media put it to Mathebula that his committee was lacking transparency and accountability.
Also that we were told that the committee was self appointed and could not produce minutes of the meeting in which it's members were elected.
The term for this committee started in 2018 and even if it was for real, it's term would have ended in 2023, which is five years later but it has failed to relinquish its position.
The committee has been accused of failing to hold any Annual General Meeting since it's "illegal" inception.
It is also accused of keeping financial affairs secret and has never been transparent to the claiments in terms of financial information.
"We are up in arms against this bogus committee, we had to appoint a Task Team to replace it," said one of the angry claiments who demanded answers.
The alleged bogus committee did not inform the claimants when it opened a Trust Account at a certain bank.
"It is alleged that you have moved R13 million from the claimants' Absa bank account to a lawyer called Kholonyane in Pretoria then to Ngirivani Mathebula Development Nedbank Trust account, without being transparent to the claimants, what's your comment?" Rio-Jab Media asked Mathebula.
"It is alleged that you then distributed R58 000 to each of the claimants approved by the commission summing up to R7 143 000. This means there is an outstanding balance of R5 866 000, where is this balance now?" Rio-Jab Media further asked.
We also asked to be provided with audited bank statements to convince us that everything was still on track financially.
"Can you confirm that you are leading the community with an Iron Fist?" was another question from Rio-Jab Media.
We put it clear that the questions were from a registered Online Investigative News Publication found in Facebook called Rio-Jab Media and authored by its Executive Director, Riot Hlatshwayo.
Shockingly, Mathebula sent his response via a voicenote.
"Haa! ndzi khensile, anina xa ku xi vula mehe, ndzi khense leswi mi swi vulavulaka. Ehh, ndzoka ndzi nga tivi ku ndzi vulavula na mani, a ndzi swi tivi swaku ndzi vulavula na mani, wehe una nkateko hiku u swi kotile ku tiva ku u vulavula na mani hiku uyi veke straight swaku Elphus Mathebula but mehe andzi ku tivi ku hi wehe mani, but yima ni ku khensa, xin'wani na xin'wani xi na nkarhi wa xoho," Mathebula responded in XiTsonga.
Loosely interpreted this means "l thank you for your accusations. I just do not know as to who l am speaking to. You are lucky because you put it staight that l am Elphus Mathebula but l don't know you. However let me thank you, everthing has its own time," Mathebula said.
It blogs one's mind to believe that a Committee that is expected to lead a crucial Land Claim worth millikns of rands can be this ignorant on such important matters hence Mathebula automatically earned himself the title of a lifetime Mampara of note.
We copied our Media Inquiry to Sam Mathebula, the alleged bogus committee Treasurer believing that he might have schooled and could give direction but he simply ignored us.
Meanwhile, the Ngirivani Mathebula Land Claim was successfully settled in 2016 and the settlement was signed by Former President Jacob Zuma.
The claim in question covers parts of Kruger National Park, extending from Balule, Satara, Timbavati, N'wanetsi, Orpen Gate, Tshokwane, Nhlanguleni and some other areas.
The clsimants' great grandparents were forcefully removed from these areas by the Apartheid government.

Acornhoek police Station's lights are now on after two years, thanks to Rio-Jab Media's intervention.

By Riot Hlatshwayo

ACORNHOEK: The lights were off for almost two years at the Acornhoek Police Station but are now on following a special intervention by Rio-Jab Media.
Since the police station's electric cables were stolen in November 2022 it never had electricity and therefore making it difficult for both the SAPS members and the community at large.
The station's problems started in August 2018 when it caught fire unceremoniously.
About seven days ago, Rio-Jab Media wrote to the Acting Mpumalanga Provincial Police Commissioner, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi, about this problem.
We asked Mkhwanazi to show us what he was made of by ensuring the restoration of the electricity at the police station.
His Spin Doctor, Colonel Donald Mdluli, told us at the time that Mkhwanazi secured a meeting with the Provincial Department of Public Works, the custodian of the Acornhoek Police Station building.
The meeting had been scheduled for Wednesday the 7th of August but did not materialise.
"The meeting that was scheduled to take place on Wednesday (07 August 2024) between the SAPS and the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure did not materialise as the Regional Mananger from the Department was unavailable," Mdluli told Rio-Jab Media on Friday.
"However it is not all doom and gloom as the SAPS is awaiting for another rescheduled date somewhere next week," added Mdluli.
He said that Mkhwanazi had in the meantime reassured members of the public that the SAPS was giving all the attention to "this pressing issue".
"Currently the Acornhoek Police Station is using a portable electric genarator during the night," explained Mdluli.
"In addition, the Acting PC has also indicated that, Division Supply Chain Management at Head Office, is in the process of installing a Solar System at Acornhoek Police Station whilst awaiting for the Department of Public Works and Infrastructure to activate the project of restoring electricity at the station," said Mdluli.
That as it may, Rio-Jab Media has discovered that the generator in question was only able to cater for the lights only and maybe that was the reason for Mdluli to have said "using a portable electric generator during the night".
Frustrated members at the station spoke to Rio-Jab Media on condition of anonymity.
"This generator is unable to cater for the computers and certain plugs. This makes it difficult for us to register cases," said a member.
"We are still expected to drive to Bushbuckridge Police Station about 50km away in order to register criminal cases into the SAPS system," another Cop said.
He said when members of the community opened cases it was difficult to provide them with case numbers.
The cops said they were tired and were no longer willing to continue travelling to the Bushbuckridge Police Station.
"We shall just sit and watch until electricity is fully restored, we can't work anymore," a third member said.
The Cops used cellphones as torches when taking statements at night before the arrival of the generator.
"In the meantime we thank Rio-Jab Media for the intervention but we still can't charge the state phones and therefore the community can't phone the station to report cases," another police officer showed concern. Ends. Rio-Jab Media.

CAPTION: The police at the Acornhoek Police Station used cellphones as torches to take down statements before Rio-Jab Media intervened about the two years of no electricity at the station.

Team work between Mthunzi Law Chambers (Advocate DJ Sibuyi) and Rio-Jab Media finally produces great results.

PHALABORWA: When Themba Boyama died in the Namakgale police custody in March this year it became a long winding road to obtain the results for his postmortem.
This has however come to an abrupt end this past week, thanks to the intervention by Rio-Jab Media and the all powerful Mthunzi Law Chambers.
The results are extremely crucial for Advocate DJ Sibuyi of the Mthunzi Law Chambers to forge ahead with the ongoing Lawsuit against the SAPS.
Advocate of the Masses, as Advocate DJ Sibuyi is affectionately known, has confirmed that the Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) finally released the results.
About two months after Boyama was allegedly assaulted to death by the police, Rio-Jab Media accompanied the family to Namakgale police station looking for the postmortem results.
This was after a Limpopo based IPID Officer known to us as Mkhari lied to the family saying that he had given the results to the station.
Rio-Jab Media had overheard this Mkhari Officer speaking on the phone and sending the family on a wild goose chase.
"The IPID Officer who told you that he sent the results to this police station was telling you lies for reasons best known to himself. How possible is it that files from IPID can be handed to a police station when we are the ones accused of killing the victim?" a Senior Management Officer at the Namakgale police station responded.
Rio-Jab Media contacted National IPID Spokesperson, Phaladi Shuping, to establish why Mkhari had lied to the family.
Shuping did not answer this specific question per se' but had this to say.
"This case is investigated by Mr Mkhari. He had on numerous occasions, liaised with the family and reported progress. We have not yet received postmortem because the doctor could not make a finding without histology report. Once the postmortem is ready, the family will be informed," Shuping responded to Rio-Jab Media on June 25, 2024.
Boyama (37) was in his house with a female companion when a notorious police gang allegedly pounced in on them in the early hours of March 20, 2024.
This was at Majeje-Benfarm near Lulekani in the Phalaborwa area of Limpopo Province.
The police who arrived in about five vehicles allegedly told the couple that they were looking for drugs.
They had even brought along a dog to sniff out the alleged drugs but they could not find any.
The police allegedly tortured Boyama for some time before dragging him into one of their vehicles parked on the street.
They allegedly asked Boyama's traumatised female companion if anyone knew that she was in that house and she said no one knew.
The cops believed her and told her to get lost without even being concerned that it was at night.
The lady left and according to a recorded statement that she has since given to Advocate Sibuyi, walked to her home about three kilometers away.
The police unfortunately forgot an SAPS pepper spray and a shock-device at the scene.
In the morning a family member went to Namakgale police station to find out about Boyama.
"I was taken from pillar to post, even told that he was at Maphuta hospital but l did not find him there either," a family member told Rio-Jab Media.
"It was only after l returned to the police station that l coincided with a Forensic van and a kind hearted cop whispered to me that the van had come to collect his body as he had passed away," added the family member.
Coincidentally, Mkharhi was also at the police station at the time and confirmed to the family member that Boyama had passed away.
"Mkhari even confirmed that IPID was automatically taking over the investigations as our brother had died in the hands of the police," explained the family member.
After the family asked Rio-Jab Media to intervene we introduced Advocate Sibuyi to the family.
He has already instituted a lawsuit for damages against the Police Minister and the Provincial Police Commissioner Lt.Gen. Thembi Hadebe.
Meanwhile, Boyama's companion has since gone into hiding in a far away Province known by Rio-Jab Media and Advocate Sibuyi.
When we tracked her down to the secret place we took her to a special meeting in Midrand where she gave a very crucial statement about what transpired that night.
She also explained that she was forced to leave Phalaborwa because some armed people wearing balaclavas used to come looking for her at her home.
She said she was under the impression that these could be the implicated members of the police with an intention to assassinate her as she was a crucial witness to the alleged assault.
Advocate Sibuyi has given the government 60 days to respond to his letters of demand.
The 60 days period is expected to expire sometimes this month.
"If we do not receive any response until the 60 days deadline is over, we shall send summons in terms of the Law," Advocate Sibuyi told Rio-Jab Media two nights ago. Ends. Rio-Jab Media.

CAPTIONS: Advocate DJ Sibuyi is suing the police for "assaulting Themba Boyama to death in Phalaborwa in March. The cops allegedly forgot incriminating evidence at the scene.

The alleged Mkhuhlu Wi-Fi killing of a teenage boy by a neighbour is not true.

By Riot Hlatshwayo
0712982807

MKHUHLU: It is now a matter of Social Media vs real Journalism.
The hoax story that was circulated in Social Media this week claimed that a boy named Quinton Malibe died at the Matikwane hospital in Mkhuhlu, Mpumalanga this week.
The story said the boy was admitted in the Intensive care unit (ICU) of the hospitaI after his neighbor assaulted him.
It went on to say he was assaulted because he had used the neighbor's Wi-Fi without permission.
This story brought shock within the communities of Mkhuhlu.
Media houses, online, print, television and radio news all vigorously searched for the facts around this story only to find that it was a blue lie.
Even the police used resources in their attempts to establish the truthfulness of this story only to find that it was a hoax.
"We strongly condemn the circulation of fake news because that has the potential of sparking unwarranted violence against certain individuals," warned Mpumalanga Provincial Police Spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdluli today (09/08/2024).
The story that even had a picture of the supposed murdered boy went on to say his mom said she was not going to open a case against his killer but preferred to leave everything in the hands of God.
The police have warned the public to refrain from circulating fake news.
It is a criminal offence to circulate fake news and the author may be arrested.
Rio-Jab Media hereby requests people to differentiate between Social Media and real Journalism.
Let us give you a lesson or two in order for you to apply your mind when reading staff in the future.
Journalism and social Media are both platforms for sharing information, but they serve different purposes and have distinct characteristics. The primary purpose of Journalism is to report news and provide information to the public in a professional and objective manner. Journalistic content is typically produced by trained journalists and follows specific Editorial Standards and Guidelines.
Social Media platforms are designed for users to share personal updates, opinions, and content with their network of friends or followers. While news can be shared on Social Media, the platform is not dedicated solely to Journalistic reporting.
Journalism goes along with credibility and verification.
Journalism is generally held to higher standards of accuracy, credibility, and fact-checking. Journalists are expected to verify information before publishing it and adhere to ethical guidelines.
Content on Social Media platforms is often user-generated and may not always be fact-checked or verified. Misinformation and rumors can spread quickly on Social Media, making it important for users to critically evaluate the information they encounter. ENDS. Rio-Jab Media.

SADC University of African Medicine to hold a Fund Raising Gala Dinner.

By Riot Hlatshwayo

PRETORIA: The Southern African Development Community (SADC) University of African Medicine, is holding a Fund Raising Gala Dinner.
The University is the brainchild of Professor Mbaimbai Hlati, the President for the Unified Ancestral Traditional Health Practitioners Association in SADC.
The Gala Dinner is scheduled to take place at the Capital Hotel in Pretoria (Gauteng) on September 11, 2024.
Prospective Donors and Sponsors have accordingly been invited to support the Gala Dinner by buying tables.
The Donors and Sponsors are also welcome to donate or sponsor towards the University's structural development funding.
Rio-Jab Media tracked Professor Hlati down to get the gist of the matter about this unique University and Gala Dinner.
"The University of African Medicine is for training, advising, promoting and professionalising the African Medical Health Practice in the SADC Region," Professor Hlati told Rio-Jab Media.
He said a lot of progress had already been achieved since the establishment of this University.
This includes the acquisition of a site for its development at Mavambe Village near Malamule Township under the Chabane Municipality in the Limpopo Province.
Professor Hlati added that some of the notable achievements included collaboration agreements with the University of Venda in South Africa and the Federal University of Reconcovo of Bahia in Brazil.
The establishment of the University Council aimed at running the affairs of the University is also another achievement.
"The first building project is about to be completed and that is also part of the achievements thus far," explained Hlati.
He confirmed that the funding process for the University was his sole responsibility as the Founder.
It is along this reason therefore that the request for donations and Sponsors came to since Professor Hlati cannot have enough resources to deal with this on his own.
Some of the tables at the Gala Dinner are sold at R100 000 and some at R150 000.
Rio-Jab Media understands that the Gala Dinner will also serve as a platform for companies to pledge their willingness to partner with the University Council in its endeavours to develop and promote African Medical Health Practice in the SADC Region.
The Media, including Rio-Jab Media, has been invited to the Gala Dinner in order to cover the event so as to make sure that Sponsors and Donors were given the necessay mileage for their generosity.
Meanwhile, any company or individual intending to either contribute or buy a table may use the following banking details:

Acornhoek police use cellphone lights when taking statements, thanks to Manamela's lack of vision.

By Riot Hlatshwayo

ACORNHOEK: For nearly two years, the police in the Acornhoek Police Station in Mpumalanga found themselves in an extremely embarrassing scenario.
Believe it or not, the station has never had electricity since November 2022.
This has left the cops without any alternative but to utilize their personal cellphones as torches whenever they had to take down statements.
Even a community protest in front of the disgraced and suspended Mpumalanga Provincial Police Commissioner Lt.Gen Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, could not bring in a solution.
Some times early last year, Manamela was called to Acornhoek by an angry community that demanded the electricity to be restored at the station.
She was heavily guarded by fellow cops who were armed to teeth and spoke from an armoured police vehicle when she made an empty promise.
"We are fully aware about the challenges that you are faced with. Electricity will be restored at this police station very soon," Manamela shouted through a loud hailer.
However, "very soon" turned to days, weeks and eventually months of agony as nothing happened todate.
Manamela was apparently busy nursing her continuous work challenges and legal battles therefore abandoning her promise to the residents of Acornhoek.
A member of the community who identified herself as Hilda Sithole told Rio-Jab Media that things were very bad at the station.
"Women have been r***d in the bushes next to the police station because criminals take advantage that there is no light at night," said Sithole.
Rio-Jab Media has now taken it upon itself to intervene and hold the Executive accountable in this matter as per our Constitutional mandate.
We wrote a scathing letter to the Acting Mpumalanga Provincial Police Commissioner, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi on Saturday (03/08/2024).
Rio-Jab Media told Dr Mkhwanazi that it was not negotiable for him to ensure that electricity was restored at the Acornhoek Police Station immediately.
Subsequently, Mkhwanazi's Spin Doctor, Mpumalanga Provincial Police Spokesperson, Colonel Donald Mdluli, responded the same day.
"The SAPS management has taken this challenge in a serious light as it hampers service delivery for members of the public as our valuable clients hence the Acting Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Major General (Dr) Zeph Mkhwanazi indicated that the SAPS has already engaged with the department of Public Works as a matter of urgency and due to the fact that this matter is non-devolved to the SAPS," Mdluli told Rio-Jab Media.
"Public Works, as the custodian will have to be the ones to deal with this. There is a formal meeting scheduled for Wednesday, 07 August 2024 to that regard," added Mdluli in his response.
Rio-Jab Media will monitor developments of the planned meeting between the SAPS and the Public Works Department with an eagle eye.
This is because we cannot fold our hands and leave the challenges as they stand when we have the mandate to bring in change to the people of Acornhoek and its surroundings.
Attempts to bring Public Works Department onboard for comment proved fruitless.
Meanwhile, Manamela herself could also not be reached for comment.
She has apparently gone down bitterly after losing yet another Legal battle in the Pretoria high court.
Manamela's high court bid for leave to appeal against the court's previous judgement that she should appear before a Board of Inquiry has been dismissed.
National Police Commissioner, General Fannie Masemola, has appointed a Board of Inquiry to look into Manamela's fitness to hold office.
Following the latest judgment, Manamela may have to appear before this board to answer very difficult questions which have the potential of ruining her career for good.
Rio-Jab Media was the very first News Publication to expose Manamela's shenanigans on September 13, 2022.
These included her alleged abuse of power, nepotism, mismanagement of funds, maladministration, bullying and undermining of National Police Management.
We revealed that Manamela allegedly benefitted illegally from the police Tea Club money to the tune of about R1.7- million.
This particular expose' by Rio-Jab Media was the one that ignited the ongoing problems that Manamela continues to endure currently. Ends. Rio-Jab Media.

CAPTION: Disgraced and suspended Mpumalanga Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt.Gen Semakaleng Daphney Manamela, has literally failed the people of Acornhoek.
