NKOWANKOWA: Kenosi Mashengete is scheduled to appear before the Ritavi magistrate's court on charges of murder today.
Rio-Jab Media believes that nothing much will happen in today's court appearance except for a posponement in preparation for the trial.
Mashengete is accused of stabbing Kevin Nkateko Dog Shingange early in December last year.
The shocking incident allegedly happened in front of members of the police from Ritavi Police Station.
It is alleged that Mashengete arrived at the Jones Tavern in Nkowankowa and started being aggressive.
In the previous court appearance before magistrate Van Royen the court heard that he might have been under the influence of drugs when he attacked patrons as well as the cashier.
It is alleged that Shingange tried to save a Zimbabwean man from being stabbed by Mashengete.
This was said to be when Mashengete stabbed Shingange twice severely injuring him.
The tavern owner took Shingange to the local clinic and subsequently to Letaba hospital.
This was after it was established that there was no oxygen at the clinic.
Shingange is said to have been attended to by several doctors but sadly succumbed to his injuries.
Shingange's sister, Elizabeth Shingange, told Rio-Jab Media that the family was in great pain.
"We as the family are in great pain. We would like to see justice prevailing. We have noted that witnesses have now been threatened to stay away from the case or else face death," said Elizabeth.
Rio-Jab Media can reveal that at least two witnesses have relocated from Nkowankowa Township fearing for their lives.
A voice clip that Rio-Jab Media overheard suggests that indeed witnesses might have been threatened.
"Our fear is that if witnesses are threatened it puts the whole case in jeopardy," said Elizabeth.
Meawhile Mashengete was shot and injured by the police shortly after allegedly stabbing Kevin.

OHRIGSTAD: For the police in South Africa, taking bribes seems to be a daily routine, unfortunately Rio-Jab Media and other Media Houses are there to expose this trand.
Just yesterday (March 07, 2024) a number of cops, mostly females, were caught on video taking bribes at Orighstad at about 4pm.
The police ambushed a minibus taxi that was driving from Burgersfort travelling to Acornhoek.
It was a very hot day and at least six occupants of the minibus taxi were drinking liquor.
This was in an apparent attempt to quench the thirst.
"As we joined the T-junction road to Lydenburg and Strydom Tunnel, the police were waiting for us. They stopped our kombi and searched us," said one of the passengers.
"The police arrested six of us for public drinking but instead demanded that we pay them cash for them to release us," added the passenger.
The cops were not aware that a video was rolling as they collected the money.
A female passenger refused to pay the money and she was thretened with arrest.
At the end, the minibus taxi was allowed to proceed on its journey without anyone being arrested.
Rio-Jab Media has sent the video to the Limpopo Provincial Police Commissioner Lt. Gen. Thembi Hadebe via the Provincial Police Spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba and asked her to account.
"The Provincial Commissioner (PC) has just been made aware of the video circulating that depicts SAPS members engaging with community members where money seems to be involved," explained Ledwaba.
He told Rio-Jab Media that the PC assigned the Deputy Provincial Commissioner Crime Detection, Major General Samuel Manala, to conduct a thorough investigation and provide feedback promptly.
He added that the Organised Crime Unit had already started with investigations.

Withheld 2022 Matric Results scandal returns to Mbombela High Court tomorrow.
By Riot Hlatshwayo

MBOMBELA: Advocate DJ Sibuyi will continue to represent the 2022 Matric Learners whose end of the year results were withheld by the Department of Education.
Advocate Sibuyi, from the Mthunzi Law Chambers at the Mthunzi Lodge in Hazyview, has previously put a big fight on behalf of the affected Matriculants.
The last time the Mbombela High Court heard the matter was November 14, 2023 before the Honourable Judge Ratshibvumo J.
While the Applicants are over 300 the Respondents are the Minister of Education Angie Motshega, the Education Director General, Mpumalanga MEC for Education Bonakele Majuba, Head of Education in Mpumalanga and UMALUSI.
After attentively listening to the matter on November 14, 2023 the Honourable Judge posponed it at the request of the Education Department.
The Department had been at pains to suggest that the matter was not urgent.
This despite that the future of the affected leaners was at stake.
The leaners had been accused of cheating during the 2022 Matric Examination.
The learners have accused the department of coming up with stories and failing to provide proof about the alleged cheating.
It is along this line therefore that hundreds of the leaners appointed Advocate Sibuyi to take the matter to court.
The Advocate is known to be handling high profile cases like the one in which a number of employees perished in fire in the Phalaborwa Mining Company (PMC) a few years ago.
It remains to be seen as to what the outcome of tomorrow's court sitting will be.
"The Department must take our well-being into consideration and give us our results. We have already lost an Academic years so far," said one of the affected learners.
Rio-Jab Media will bring you the court outcome after the sitting tomorrow. Ends. Rio-Jab Media

Sjamboked employee is fearing that a female tavern owner may come to finish him up.

TLHAVEKISA: A man from Tonga in the Nkomazi Region of Mpumalanga Province was severly sjamboked, allegedly on the instructions of Phumlile Modipane.
The latter is the controversial owner of White House Tavern at Tlhavekisa outside Graskop.
According to the victim, Enock Sibitane, Modipane accused him and two others of stealing her R15 000.
"This was when we expected her to pay us for the work we had done for her. Instead of paying us she accused us of stealing her money," said Sibitane who spoke from his hospital bed this week.
Although Rio-Jab Media knows the name of the hospital, we have decided not to publish it for security reasons.
Sibitane told Rio-Jab Media that Modipane threatened to burn them alive if they did not give her the money she accused them of stealing.
"We managed to escape before she carried out her threat, we knew that she was capable of doing the unthinkable to people who crossed her line," said Sibitane.
"She is a very dangerous woman even hardened criminals and the police are afraid of this woman," added Sibitane.
He said he was not lucky enough because Modipane and her two bodyguards hunted him down and found him hiding at the Shiba Mine in Barberton.
"They tied me up and took me to the graveyard in Tlhabekisa where they then tied me to a tombstone," explained Sibitane.
"The Boss-Lady instructed his two men to assault me with sjamboks while she sprayed me with doom and struck a match stick on the doom so that a flame could burn me," added Sibitane.
He said Modipane told him that he was going to die on that tombstone.
From there the assailants allegedly took him to a room in the White House Tavern where he said he was locked up for two days without food or water.
He said after the two days under lock and key he was given R20 to go and buy them eggs at the spaza shop.

MBOMBELA: An extremely thirsty EFF Mpumalanga Provincial Command Team (PCT) member known to Rio-Jab Media as Esther Molapo is a no-nonsense woman indeed.
Whoever was dishing out water at the Mpumalanga Provincial State of the Province Address (SOPA) today allegedly made a mistake of giving water only to white people, leaving out black people.
The latter included members of the EFF and Molapo harshly shouted that they too must be given water.
"I have seen you giving water to the white people, give us water too and stop this racial discrimination," shouted Molapo.
Her actions brought her lots of attention from the journalists including Rio-Jab Media.
Someone responded to Molapo and said, "Shut up".
Another one called for security to remove her and she said "Give us water, ngi thulile ke (l'm quiet now)".
Ironically, as we started pointing our video cameras towards Molapo a control freak of an
official tried to teach us how to do our job.
"No no no you are out of order, what kind of a journalist are you?" shouted the official who felt Molapo's actions were not newsworthy according to him.
We captured the moment anyway because this addresses the continues issues of Apartheid which remain the Act of Racial Discrimination in South Africa.
Immediately after this water was given to members of the EFF and the journalists present.
Rio-Jab Media is not an affiliate of any Political Party but it supports the challenge displayed by the EFF at the SOPA over water today.
Infact, Apartheid is over theoretically but still exists practically in South Africa and worse because it is now hiding behind the so called democracy. Ends. Rio-Jab Media

ORINOCO: The residents of Demulani and Tsuvulani which is under Ward 12 in the Bushbuckridge Municipality are up in arms against the local Councillor.
The community woke up early in the morning and went to the local Site Office to lock out the workers due to alleged corruption and nepotism.
The community is accusing Counselor Busisiwe Ngobeni of lacking the qualities of a committed Counselor who knows her story.
"We can't continue to be represented by a dull Counselor who even fails to participate during crucial meetings affecting service delivery in our villages," one angry member of the community told Rio-Jab Media last night.
Rio-Jab Media received a picture of a meeting in which the Counselor was sitting alone far at the back away from all the other meeting attendants.
The community says she has no educatiom at all and she used to be a cleaner.
There is a pavement that is being constructed in Tsuvulani and Demulani along the road from Casteel and New Forest.
"To show that something is fishy, the paving ends at the home of the Counselor's brother Ben Brandy Ngobeni," said another community member.
This morning the community members chased out all workers from the Site Office and locked the gates with a chained padlock.
"Most of the people working here are relatives of either the Counselor or other politicians," a third community member said.
There were also accusations of fronting that Rio-Jab Media has been told about

Remands are not raining but pouring for murder accused Kenosi Mashengete in the Ritavi magistrate's court.

NKOWANKOWA: Singing of slogans, shouting for no bail and chanting took centre stage in the Ritavi magistrate's court as murder accused, Kenosi Mashenge, continued with his bail appication this week.
The court heard that it was in the interest of justice for Mashengete, just like any other suspect, to be released on bail.
This after his lawyer, Attorney Mixo Nyakane, came up with all the tricks in the book to convince the court to release Mashengete on bail on Tuesday, January 16, 2023.
The court however posponed the matter to next week Tuesday, January 23, 2024, for the delivery of judgement following the bail application.
As for Mashengete, he will continue to enjoy free beans as the court remanded him back in custody pending the judgement.
The magistrate pointed out that she was going to Pretoria as she was having an appointment with her doctors.
This simply meant that January 23, 2024 depended on whether she would be back from her consultation with doctors or not.
If not then the matter that has been postponed well over five times may be posponed yet again.
At first, the bail application judgement was scheduled to have been delivered last week already.
However, the magistrate decided to postpone the matter to this week Tuesday.
She explained that she wanted more clarity from the Investigating Officer, Warrant Officer Kenneth Phakula.
The magistrate instructed the Public Prosecutor to subpoena Phakula back to court for the clarity she sought.
When Phakula took the stand again he insisted on his previous sentiments that he opposed bail.
One of his reasons for opposing bail was that Mashengete might not be safe outside the cells because the community was very angry at what he allegedly did.
This coincided with the noise of songs and chants by some placard waving members of the community outside court.

Our starting point would be the fact that Sgt. Mathebula has made everyone proud of her when she scooped her Award of Excellence in her line of duty at the Bolivia Lodge in Polokwane on Friday evening.
Guess what! the God fearing, humble and quiet spoken woman of beauty inside-out, Sgt.Glenda Mathebula, has scooped the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Investigator of the year Award Category for Level 5 to 7.
This was during the Limpopo SAPS Prestigious Excellence Awards led by yet another woman of integrity, Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt.Gen.Thembi Hadebe.
Many other cops and teams did scoop other Awards during the function, but Rio-Jab Media says there is just something extremely special in Mathebul's.
Maybe that something has, in essence, coincided with the start of the 16 Days of Activism for No Violence against Women and Children Campaign which is a United Nations campaign held annually from 25 November.
We are talking about a police woman with a total of 17 years experience as a cop of which 14 of these were dedicated to her Detective work in the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit (FCS).
The Unit's name speaks for itself and of course it investigates rapes, sexual assaults, Gender Based Violence, Child Abuse and neglect, abduction, missing persons of a child, assault of children with the intention to do grievous bodily harm (gbh), cyber crimes and sexual exploitation amongst others.
Sgt. Mathebula has resolved a countless number of cases within families especially those that were related to sexual offences in her work jurisdiction.

MBOMBELA: The optimistic nature of Advocate DJ Sibuyi played itself out live this past week as he was preparing for the legal battle against the Education Department.
The Advocate of the Masses, as Sibuyi is affectionately called, is representing hundreds of learners whose 2022 Matric Results were withheld by the Department.
It was a moving moment to notice Sibuyi and his team starting with prayers aimed at defeating the Department on Tuesday (November 14, 2023) morning.
Out of the blue, Advocate Sibuyi stood up and acted as if he was physically punching the Department with his fists.
"Mohamed Ali, l will fly like a butterfly and l'm going to sting like a bee. Here comes DJ, upper cut, upper cut, here is a killer punch, the Department of Education is down. Yeeeeeeeh!!!" shouted Advocate Sibuyi in his apparent approach to engage the Responded during the proceedings.
He and his team were situated at a location in the City of Mbombela and were about to join the so called Team Meeting with the Mbombela High Court.
Eventually when the proceedings started, the Education Department asked for a postponement in order to make thorough preparations for the case.
The Department failed to bring the necessary documentation including the founding affidavit or grounds to defend itself as to its reasons for withholding some of the results for the school of 2022.
"To the Honourable Court. To give a brief background of the case itself, the children are out of class. On 5 May 2023 we penned down a letter to the Department to give reasons as to why they took the decision to withhold the results," Advocate Sibuyi addressed the court.

Police are looking for the family of a man who was beaten to death at a tavern at Xanthia

XANTHIA: The police in Mpumalanga are struggling to identify a man who was beaten to death at a Xanthia tavern in the early hours of Monday morning (October 16, 2023)
The man had apparently gone to drink booze at the Zulus tavern when a group of young men attacked him.
They stripped him naked and beat him up until he died.
The cruel tsotsis then threw the man's body at the yard of the Zulus taverna's neighbor before they disappeared into the darkness.
They left his clothes scattered all over the tavern yard.
The lady who works at the tavern is said to have woken up early and cleaned the crime scene including collecting the victim's clothing before the police arrived.
Rio-Jab Media says this woman, whose name is known to us literally tempered with a crime scene and must also be arrested for defeating the ends of justice.
A man discovered the body of the victim at the home of a man that the police identified as Fashion Mkhonto.
The clothes that belonged to the victim included a pair of blue jeans, a yellow T-shirt sky blue Covit 19 protection mask that could even cover the neck and black takkies.
Rio-Jab Media believes that the description of these clothing might help the victim's family to come forward as a week has passed by already without anyone coming forward to claim the body.
The Bushbuckridge police are investigating a murder case in this regard and hope to crack the case in the near future.
A group of young men whose names are known to Rio-Jab Media have allegedly confessed to their families that they killed the man by mistake.
We intended to publish the names of the suspects but decided against this in order not to interfere with police investigations.

Manamela snubbed National Police Commissioner General Masemola during memorial and funeral services

MBOMBELA: It is not raining but pouring against the controversial Mpumalanga Provincial Police Commissioner, Lt. Gen. Semakaleng Daphney Manamela.
This time around Rio-Jab Media has established that Manamela practically snubbed her Boss, National Police Commissioner, General Fannie Masemola.
Sometimes on May 31, 2023, Mpumalanga Province lost a very important leader.
He was known as Kevin Pillay and was the former Chairperson of the Community Policing Forum (CPF) in Mpumalanga as well as the Forum's National Secretary.
This is the man who was extremely active and able to make sure of commited community participation in the fight against the scourge of crime in Mpumalanga.
Rio-Jab Media can reveal that Manamela did not like Pillay and she had just, as usual, allegedly verbally insulted him before his untimely death.
Pillay apparently complained to people he was with at a restaurant saying he was heartbroken because Manamela had insulted him like a small child.
Shortly after that Pillay suddenly collapsed and was rushed to Mbombela Mediclinic where he later passed away.
Pillay's memorial service and funeral later took place in Nelspruit.
Amongst the Top Cops that attended the functions in support of the Pillay family was General Fannie Masemola who had flown all the away from Pretoria for this important purpose.
Ironically, Manamela, as a Provincial Police Commissioner, allegedly refused to collect Masemola at the Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport on both instances.
Rio-Jab Media can reveal that many police dignitaries were shocked by Manamela's behavior towards General Masemola.
As if that was not enough, Manamela was a no show in both the memorial and the funeral services.
What blogs the mind though is that Manamela was said to have been in the program but had disappeared into thin air.

Four killed during a shootout shortly after a cash-in-transit in Limpopo

HOEDSPRUIT: Four suspected cash-in-transit robbers were shot dead during a shootout resembling a Mini War in Limpopo on Wednesday afternoon.
This brings to 23 the number of suspected cash-in-transit heists suspects killed during exchange of gunfire in Limpopo in less than a month.
In the latest incident the Tsotsis were travelling in three vehicles, a White Toyota Fortuner, a Ford Focus and a white Toyota Hilux along the busy Hoedspruit/Acornhoek road at about 4pm.
They followed two vehicles, one of which was a G4S Cash Vehicle and the other one an escort.
The Tsotsis fired shots at the escort vehicle until it stopped. The two guards in the vehicle were shot and injured but the driver succumbed to his injuries on the spot.
The Tsotsis then went after the Cash Vehicle and shot at it until it also stopped.
They disarmed the guards of their guns and ordered them to run to the bushes.
That's when they bombed the vault and managed to steal an undisclosed amount of cash.
Unbeknown to the Tsotsis, the no-nonsense Farmwatch was activated together with the police.
The members of Farmwatch spotted the suspects driving towards Hoedspruit.
"In an attempt to stop the suspects' vehicles, they put the obstacles on the road that forced their vehicles to stop," said Hawks Limpopo Provincial Spokesperson, Colonel Matimba Maluleke.
After stopping the Tsotsis started shooting at the members of the Hoedspruit Farmwatch who retaliated in self defence.
Four suspects were shot dead and a 28-year-old Tsotsi got injured and arrested on the spot.
Releasing that the members of the Farmwatch were winning the Mini War, the other suspects ran into the bushes and vanished.
This morning a chopper and dogs were used to track down the escaped suspects and were caught inside a taxi travelling to Acornhoek.
"The two suspects were found in possession of suspected stolen money," explained Maluleke.
