🌿 Define before you Design 🎨

Before you start picking colors, fonts, or templates for your website—pause.

The most effective websites don’t start with design—they start with definition.

Ask yourself first:
❓ What’s the goal of your website?
❓ Who do you want to visit it?
❓ What do you want them to do once they’re there?

When you skip the defining phase, you risk:
⚠️ Lacks direction for visitors
⚠️ Not communicating your message clearly
⚠️ Not attracting the clients or audience that you want
⚠️Costly redesigns in the future

Skipping this foundational step leads to a pretty, but ineffective website that doesn't convert, doesn't grow your business and leaves you frustrated.

Do you think "ageism" exist?

I posted this on my LinkedIn account and I thought I would share it here, because I felt a need to ask the question and I hope to get some thoughts from you.

Today I participated in a webinar, "Break Through the Age Barrier: Strategies to Counter Ageism and Get Ahead in Your Career" with Helen Sanchez of Tanagui Career Consultants. There was a lot of great information that was shared, but this webinar got me thinking about a few things.

If ten years ago some one told me that I would be faced with ageism I would not have believed it. My thoughts were that as long as I stayed up to date on industry technologies and continued to build my skillset I would always be employable. This year I will turn 58 and I can say without hesitation that I have come face to face with ageism...despite keeping my skills current and learning new skills.

By choice I became a full-time freelancer in 2017, but in the last few years I have wanted to move back into the traditional job role. What I found is that as I "mature" it gets more difficult to find work or new clients in my freelance business. In addition, I have applied for more jobs in the last three years than I have in my entire career.

Here is a thought...do we believe that once a person crosses over 50 that they have no value and are not capable of learning new skills? I am curious as to what the younger generations think of fifty-somethings in regards to career and work. Do they realize that they will one day, in the not to distant future, be the fifty-somethings?

One of the "strategies" that I am suppose to use is "hiding" my age or anything that would "give away" my age. Isn't this deceptive? I am proud of my professional life and my career accomplishments. Contrary to what many may think I am not ready to retire, but am at a point in life where I am looking for my next challenge and to learning new and different skills.

I am curious what are your thoughts on ageism? Does it exist? Do we value the knowledge, skills and wisdom that comes with maturity? How can we create a workforce that is age friendly?
