It’s official. Finally. Both undefeated and power punchers. One of the closest most even matchups in history, which makes it so exciting. Similar to Roy Jones vs James Toney in 1994. I just realized Bud has more knockouts than Errol has total fights. Does that mean anything?

After rewatching the fight, my opinion has changed. I have Loma winning 116-115. Still razor close. Loma simply landed more punches. I have no agenda supporting either fighter, that’s just what I saw when watching in slow motion. Haney landed many jabs and body shots, and Loma landed straight lefts and hook power shots. I had the first 3 rounds scored even as both fighters landed almost equal amounts. A lot of fast flurries were thrown, and neither guy was getting their head snapped back much, so it was hard to identify when shots landed. Super close and even fight but Loma edged. Watch it again, if you haven’t already.

Super close fight. Many close rounds. Devin seemed to control the pace, land counters & body-shots forcing Lona to reset. Punch stats were lopsided for Loma, which I didn’t see. Loma did have spurts of his old greatest. I had Haney slightly edging Loma. Could’ve gone either way, tho.

I don’t call fix often cause I’m not into conspiracies. But last night was clearly corruption. Rolly’s wild personality and punching power got him a title shot after only 14 fights against mostly journeymen. He sells tickets, which boxing needs. However, boxing is a competition where rules and fighter’s performance determine the winner - not popularity. Rolly was dropped and clearly loosing. Referee Tony Weeks then calls a knockdown on Barroso, when he was clearly pushed. Soon after, Weeks stops the fight after Barroso lands 3 hard shots and Rolly lands none. Possibly a worse stoppage than Meldrick Taylor vs Chavez I. Taylor was least taking massive punishment and had been legit dropped. Post fight, Weeks and the Nevada Athletic commission refuse an interview. Referee’s all have full-time jobs as they make little money officiating. Making it very plausible to buy them off. Obviously, Showtime and/or the promoters, made sure lucrative fights between Rolly and Garcia or Tank II stay in tact. Barroso is 40 and was robbed of a life-long dream to be champion. The worst part is there’s no accountability in boxing for these injustices. Boxing is the Lord of the Flies in the Wild West.
