Stone Mountain Pirate NJROTC cadets 'leading-training-developing'

Class time:
Cadets fine tuning their instructional skill set by using the Cadet Instructional Sequence to train each other in drill.

The Cadet Instructional Sequence (C.I.S.) is an 8-step training method used to ensure thorough and standardized training practices. The C.I.S. is also used extensively for cadet staff training as well.

Just another tool in the NJROTC toolbox to help build confidence and leadership in the next generation of leaders.

On Sunday Nov 26th Stone Mountain High School Navy JROTC’s Battalion Commander Walton, Tyshawn went orienteering at Sweetwater Creek State Park Georgia Orienteering Club

Orienteering copanionless is usually not a common thing. On account of this common fact Battalion Commander Walton Tyshawn was asked about his experience orienteering on his own, and orienteering in general in which he replied :

“The experience was fun, an experience that can’t be put into words. The best part of orienteering is getting lost, and then finding your way. Gaining the confidence, courage, and strength, general being proud of yourself, and having a sense of accomplishment. Most teens are used to electronics so learning basic skills like reading a map or using a compass can feel really empowering.”

This weekend, November 3rd, 4th & 5th 2023, more than 2,500 cadets representing 35 metro Atlanta high school JROTC programs will take to the street to raise awareness of and contributions for The Empty Stocking Fund, an Atlanta-based, Atlanta-serving non-profit organization that provides gifts to more than 50,000 children living in poverty each holiday season.
The partnership with JROTC is a long-standing tradition that dates back to the 1940s. It was established based on the community spirit of young people helping young people. Last year the metro Atlanta JROTC Drive raised over $100,000 for The Empty Stocking Fund, enough to provide gift packages to over 5,000 children.
Through its Family2Family project, WSB-TV will support the cadets’ efforts by increasing awareness of the program and as one of the project’s underwriters Kroger will allow the cadets to fundraise onsite at more than 50 metro area stores including both Tucker stores where cadets from Stone Mountain will be.
If you see a cadet in your neighborhood this weekend, please support their efforts to help others by making a generous contribution! You can also donate online at www.emptystockingfund.org.

Good day today.

Had a chance to celebrate our cadets with a Cadet Appreciation Lunch. We wanted to recognize their performance as a unit overall and specifically their awesomeness during AMI (earned a Bravo Zulu from the Area Manager) and bringing home the 1st place trophy at the 3rd Annual FieldBall Tournament. Our staff did an amazing job of hosting the tournament as well.
Senior Chief worked the grill and put his foot in it. (The youngins have no idea about that saying, but all they know is the burgers & dogs were 💯)

We also presented colors to kick off another inspiring DeKalb Special Olympics today.

Thanks cadets for all you guys do...we see you, the school sees you, the community sees you, Area 12 sees you.
