Pictured here are fewer than a dozen older cinder cones from the northern tip of the Pleistocene-Holocene Pinacate volcanic field that straddles the US-Mexico frontier. Most of the 300 cinder cones and maars of the Pinacate field reside in Mexico, as do all of the Holocene-age vents. Note that the lava flows and vent areas are deeply infiltrated by sands, derived in part from the Gran Diserto sand sea, 15 miles to the west.

The Civil War-era abortion ban has created nothing but chaos for women & doctors in our state. I promise I'll do everything in my power to protect our reproductive freedoms.

Here’s what I’ve done to put an end to this never-ending assault on our fundamental rights:

1️⃣ I signed an executive order removing the ability of county attorneys to prosecute women and doctors for performing or receiving abortions. I refuse to allow extremist county prosecutors to use this ban to lock up women seeking primary health care.

2️⃣ My administration has expanded access to over-the-counter contraceptives. Today, Arizonans across the state can walk into their pharmacy to obtain birth control medication without a doctor’s prescription.

3️⃣ I vetoed legislation that would have threatened access to IVF and endangered access to any abortions in our state. And any other legislation that threatens to take away our rights will continue to be met with my veto stamp.

4️⃣ I am calling on the legislature to do the right thing right now and repeal this 1864 ban and protect access to reproductive healthcare.

While this seems like a dark time for Arizona women, I want to assure you that the fight is far from over. I will not stop until my 22-year-old daughter has the same rights I did at her age.
