This weekend, August 20, 2022 enjoy an evening of world music with Jonathan featuring music by the Mahotella Queens, John Oates, Cesasria Evora & Bonga, Orchestra Baobab, Salsa Celtica, Australia's Kamerunga, Karsh Kale, Johnny Hartmand with John Coltrane, Ella and Louis, Art Tatum, Buddy Rich, and Lionel Hampton, Omara Portuondo, Brenda Fassie, Wolfstone, Odetta, Keb Mo and more.

Hear the broadcast streamed Saturdays 5 p.m. Central on WPR's NPR News & Music Network at wpr.org and at 7 p.m. on 90.7 in Milwaukee.

Playlists (during live broadcasts are subject to change without notice) are available for listeners to view after 12 p.m. Central each Sunday - View them on The Road To Higher Ground webpage on the News and Music Network of Wisconsin Public Radio.

You can also listen to the Saturday On Demand Archive broadcast online for two weeks after the original broadcast date, Mondays after 12 p.m. Central.

This page will continue to share news about NPR - Wisconsin Public Radio's world music broadcast with Jonathan on Saturday evenings.

Dr. "Ø" uses the power of music as a "potential pathway leading to an increase in the understanding of diverse groups worldwide" shaped and inspired from his many years of independent travel, research and engagement with music makers from around the globe. Tune-in and experience an entire evening of his culturally inclusive, ethnically diverse, and genre-bending blend of sounds - ancient and modern.

The Road To Higher Ground airs 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Central Time on WPR's NPR News & Music Network. Listeners in the general Milwaukee area will continue to hear the entire Saturday broadcast beginning at 7:00 p.m.

A playlist for each broadcast is posted on Sundays following the Saturday broadcast. You can also listen to the entire Saturday night broadcast for two weeks after the original broadcast date. The audio archive generally becomes available by Noon each Monday.
