Dr. Amos Josiah Dangut has been named the new Director of the Nigeria National Office by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC).
In a recent statement released on Monday, WAEC revealed that Dr. Dangut previously held the post of Deputy Registrar in the HNO’s office, which is how this declaration was made.
Patrick Areghan’s leadership is replaced by Dr. Dangut as his term is coming to an end this month. The statement claims that Dr. Dangut started working at WAEC in 1998 as an Assistant Registrar II and rapidly rose through the ranks until he was appointed Deputy Registrar in April 2018.
Notably, the Nigeria Examinations Committee commended him for his open administration of exams between 2000 and 2006.
The statement gave a brief overview of Dr. Dangut’s professional history, which included his time as an assistant registrar/subject officer at WAEC Lagos’ Test Development Division from July 1998 to January 2005.
Dr. Dangut was born on October 2, 1967, in the Mbar District of the Bokkos Local Government Area, Plateau State, according to additional information on his history.
He completed his secondary school at the Government Secondary School in Riyom (1981–1983) and the Government Science School in Kuru (1983–1986), both in Plateau State, where he earned his WASC/SC in 1986.
His education continued in the University of Agriculture in Makurdi, Benue State, where he graduated in 1991 with a Bachelor of Agriculture in Animal Production.
His use of information and communications technology (ICT) to improve test development, test administration, and post-test activities procedures over a 25-year period was also emphasised in the announcement.
Additionally, Dr. Dangut is regarded as a leading academic with numerous papers in national and international journals.
