‘Frailty’ is the new album by Andrew Lang, a composer and musician from Adelaide, Australia. Frailty represents a new direction for Andrew, departing from his piano-centric neoclassical ambient compositional approach, and instead turning to electric guitars, effects pedals, synths, field recordings and tape machines. The result is a collection of dreamy, blissed-out dronescapes, which maintain the delicate, emotional sensibilities of his past music, while embracing thick, sustained tones and washes of noise.

The track ‘Years & Years’ features a guest saxophone performance by Derek Pascoe, which Andrew ran through a chain of effects to transform and blend into a ringing, reverberating fog of sound.

Andrew recorded the bulk of Frailty between 2020 and 2022, a time of emotional upheaval for him, due in part to the once-in-a-generation events of that period. This range of emotions, from nostalgia and loss to optimism and joy, is etched into the compositions that make up Frailty.

Frailty is available as a limited edition of 50 tapes and digitally via Bandcamp and most streaming platforms.

On ‘Khonsu’ by Blanket Swimming, the sound of melting snow falling from mountain trees gives way to lush, hypnotic washes of ethereal tones and, as in a dream, we find ourselves swept up into the night sky, soaring above the mountaintops, beneath the silver moon. ‘Khonsu’ – named after the Egyptian moon god, and also meaning ‘traveller’ – is made up of two long-form pieces of delicate, emotional, ambient dronescapes.

Khonsu is the newest release by prolific sound artist, Nicholas Maloney a.k.a. Blanket Swimming. It was composed during a challenging, confusing, and transitional time for Nicholas, and one can sense that their heart and soul was poured into the pieces, as they are imbued with hope and longing in equal measure. Drift into the starlit sky with the exceptionally beautiful sounds of Khonsu.

Khonsu is available as a limited edition of 50 tapes and digitally via Bandcamp and most streaming platforms.

On ‘Hillingar’ by , mysterious, unexplained sounds meld with slowly evolving, deep drones. The music is evocative of things unseen, of illusions, thick fog, and mirages on the distant horizon. The compositions are given time and space to unfold patiently, at times tranquil and serene, at other times brooding and foreboding. Sustained tones of resonating strings impart an organic quality to the soundscapes, while subtle unidentified noises give rise to an air of ambiguity.

Coming soon on the excellent Tasmanian label Perceptual Tapes is our album: Hillingar.

This one has had an exceptionally long genesis. Deemed completed a very long time ago, but there was just something lingering about the material which kept it being held back.

It wasn't until meeting Tim at Perceptual that a dialogue began about this album, and through a series of discussions, and bouncing of ideas, a series of new needs, techniques and approaches for the material revealed themselves. And with a little extra work having been invested, including some careful mixing and mastering from Tim himself, we can now close the book on Hillingar for good.

Cover art was hand painted especially by Elise Wilson.

Releasing the 1st of November in digital and limited cassette formats. Available for pre-order now.
