History is written by the victors and hidden for the vanquished.

“In the last 270 years, more than a quarter million indigenous people were forced off their ancestral lands, burned out of their homes, sold into slavery, and forcibly assimilated into a foreign culture. These were the residents of the Scottish Highlands. Their crime: Occupying land that others coveted.

Highland and Island Scots lived under a clan structure based on an earlier tribal lifestyle. By pledging loyalty to a familial laird, the Highlanders gained the right to plant crops and raise cattle in the rugged hills and mountains of Scotland. These people remained close to their Celtic roots, and most spoke Gaidhlig instead of English. Culturally, the Highlanders were strongly independent, and they resented English dominion. The Highland Scots opposed the annexation of their homeland by the English. At Culloden Field, on 16 April 1746, the English Army crushed the Scottish rebellion; even the Highlander wounded were massacred. When the battle was over, the Scottish lairds were dead, and the English set out to destroy the clans once and for all.

In 1747, England passed “The Act of Proscription”, which banned (for the Scots) the wearing of tartan, the playing of bagpipes, the right to own weapons, the gathering of clans, and the teaching of the Gaidhlig language. Punishment for breaking this law: Seven years slavery in an overseas English colony. Another law that same year turned all clan lands over to the English crown. In forty years, the clan culture was largely destroyed; the young people did not know their language or culture.

As the 19th Century began, the price for wool and mutton went up. To corner the market for these valuable commodities, the English lords of the Highlands began a campaign now known as “The Clearances”. Trees were cut away, and their planting was forbidden, to make room for sheep. And the tenants of the land, of course, were in the way as well. The English began a campaign of terror, using armed enforcers to destroy Highland and Island homes, herding their inhabitants into urban ghettos or packing them onto cargo ships for the “New World” colonies. Where thousands of Scots had once lived, a few dozen shepherds now tended flocks of sheep. People were often evicted from their homes without warning, given only enough time to escape with their lives before the fires began. In many cases, the old and the young died as their houses burned; entire families froze to death without shelter. Those forced onto slave ships died enroute to America and Australia, packed like sardines. Tens of thousands died; hundreds of thousands lost their freedom and their identity.

And assaults on the Highland Scots continue to this day. Only in 1976 did the English pass a law allowing the remaining Highland tenants to buy their lands – at highly-inflated prices. It was only in 1991 that the law changed so that Highlanders were allowed to plants trees again. A few dozen people still own most of the Scottish Highlands; many of the Islands belong to corporations or individuals. In 1993, two farm families on the Isle of Arran were evicted and their houses bulldozed – to make room for more deer. That same year, absentee landlord Sheik Maktoumm of Dubai bulldozed a dozen family homes on his estate, even though there were already 800 applicants in need of housing on his lands.”

A husband takes his wife to play golf for her first time. Of course, the wife promptly hacked her first shot right through the window of the biggest house adjacent to the course owned by the chairman of the local Conservative Party.
The husband cringed, 'I warned you to be careful! Now we'll have to go up there, find the owner, apologize and see how much your lousy drive is going to cost us.'
So the couple walked up to the house and knocked on the door. A warm voice said, 'Come on in.'
When they opened the door they saw the damage that was done: glass was all over the place, and a broken antique bottle was lying on its side near the pieces of window glass.
A man reclining on the couch asked, 'Are you the people that broke my window?'
'Uh...yes! We're sorry about that,' the husband replied.
'Oh, no apology is necessary. Actually I want to thank you.. You see, I'm a genie, and I've been trapped in that bottle for a thousand years. Now that you've released me, I'm allowed to grant three wishes. I'll give you each one wish, but if you don't mind, I'll keep the last one for my self.'
Wow, that's great!' the husband said. He pondered a moment and blurted out, 'I'd like a million dollars a year for the rest of my life.'
'No problem,' said the genie 'You've got it, it's the least I can do.. And I'll guarantee you a long, healthy life!'
'And now you, young lady, what do you want?' the genie asked.
'I'd like to own a gorgeous home in every country in the world complete with servants,' she said.
'Consider it done,' the genie said. 'And your homes will always be safe from fire, burglary and natural disasters!'
'And now,' the couple asked in unison, 'what's your wish, genie?'
'Well, since I've been trapped in that bottle, and haven't been with a woman in more than a thousand years, my wish is to have s*x with your wife.'
The husband looked at his wife and said, 'Gee, honey, you know we both now have a fortune, and all those houses. What do you think?'
She mulled it over for a few moments and said, 'You know, you're right. Considering our good fortune, I guess I wouldn't mind, but what about you, honey?'
You know I love you sweetheart,' said the husband. I'd do the same for you!'
So the genie and the woman went upstairs where they spent the rest of the afternoon enjoying each other.
The genie was insatiable. After about three hours of non-stop s*x, the genie rolled over and looked directly into her eyes and asked, How old are you and your husband?'
'Why, we're both 35,' she responded breathlessly.
'No Kidding,' he said.
'Thirty-five years old and you both still believe in genies and Conservative promises?'

No arguments from me on this from Peter A Bell.

Relative to the British parties, the SNP is certainly putting Scotland’s interests first. Looking good next to them is easy. Assessed by any more objective standard, however, the SNP doesn’t look quite so good. The party has had a majority of Scotland’s MPs since 2015. Would anyone care to list the ways in which they have furthered or protected Scotland’s interests in those eight years?

Kate Forbes writes as if those eight years never happened. She seems to hope we will just forget them. Worse! She appears to expect that we will simply discount the fact that the SNP group at Westminster has been totally ineffectual.

Worse still! Kate Forbes evidently reckons we are all stupid enough to believe the SNP can be other than totally ineffectual in the British parliament. The reality, of course, is that even if the SNP won all 57 seats with 100% of the vote on a 100% turnout, the Westminster group would be just as ineffectual as it has been for the last eight years.

The whole point of the Union is to render Scotland powerless. It was designed to give England an overwhelming and permanent advantage. That is what it has always done. That is what it will always do.

But Kate Forbes and her colleagues want us to believe otherwise. As do the other pro-independence parties. Even ISP wants us to believe that electing MPs will make a difference even if it is by abstaining. What they all have in common is that they pretend Westminster has a role in serving Scotland’s interests which it definitively cannot have. It’s not me telling you this. It’s arithmetic!

Scotland’s interests can only be served by a Scottish Parliament that has all the powers of a national parliament. Powers commensurate with its democratic legitimacy.

Precisely the same can be said of Westminster. It too should have power over Scotland commensurate with its democratic legitimacy. Westminster has no democratic legitimacy. It’s power over Scotland is total. Its democratic legitimacy is zero. That too is a matter of arithmetic.

Holyrood’s pathetically limited power derives from its mandate from the sovereign people of Scotland.

Westminster has total power over Scotland because it asserts that power and is not challenged. Rather, Scotland’s political elite timidly accepts this asserted power as legitimate. They urge us to vote for their candidates in UK general elections as if by doing so those MPs are going to be operating within a democratic system that affords them the ability to ensure Scotland’s interests are protected. In reality, the British political system is so contrived as to deny them this ability.

Kate Forbes and the rest are not being honest with Scottish voters. The best that may be said of them is that they are being deceitful. I prefer to be more forthright and say that they are lying.

I will not be deceived. I will not validate the British political system which ensures Scotland’s interests can never be put first. I shall repurpose my ballot to vote for the only thing that can allow us to always put Scotland’s interests first. I will vote to restore Scotland’s rightful constitutional status and defend our democracy in the only way I can, by inscribing my ballot paper with the words !

Why do you want to elect a representative to sit in another countries Parliament, where 400 years of history has proven that attendance is both ineffective and derided?

We don’t have our own media in Scotland, it is UKplc manipulated and this is a fine example of it.

On the left is the English version of todays rag, spewing anti-Labour rhetoric in support of the soon to be banished Conservative cabal. Ooh taxes, the bane of the working class, don’t let them in, they’ll spend your hard earned on vanity projects like hospitals and schools and roads and social safety nets.

On the right is the Scottish version, for distribution to the extremists across the border and no mention of taxes here. On no siree, the UKplc want rid of the SNP and any party representing an Independent mindset, so no screaming Labour are not trusted here. Perversely the same Conservative led press want a Labour majority in Scotland, pro Union and all that, so the attack is directed at how dangerous your streets will be under a non UK party.

For the hard of thinking this is typical of how we are informed by the UKplc MSM, anti Scotland pro Union manipulation. It’s a battle we struggle to win.
