PRESS RELEASE FROM NEW YORK STATE POLICE ..

Tuxedo, NY - On September 6, 2022, at about 1:00 a.m., State Police responded to a serious personal injury crash on I-87 in the town of Tuxedo, Orange County.

A preliminary investigation has determined a passenger vehicle was driving northbound in the southbound lanes between Exit 16 (Harriman) and Exit 15A (Sloatsburg), when it struck another passenger vehicle head on.

The vehicles were occupied by drivers only, both of whom were pronounced deceased on the scene.

All southbound lanes remain blocked during accident reconstruction. Traffic is being diverted at Exit 16, Harriman.

PRESS RELEASE FROM THE NEW YORK STATE POLICE ..

August 28, 2022, at approximately 2:15 p.m., State Police from the Liberty barracks responded to White Lake in the town of Bethel for a report of three people who went underwater and failed to resurface. Preliminary investigation revealed that a family from Bellerose, NY began swimming in White Lake at approximately 10 a.m. At approximately 2:00 p.m., Basir Amin, age 18 began to struggle in the deep portion of the lake. His sister, Nasrin Amin, age 21, and his uncle, Afrid Haider, age 34 attempted to assist Basir. Subsequently all three went under the water and did not resurface. All three victims were recovered by responding divers from Bethel Fire. The three were under the water for a period of time. Life saving measures were started immediately. They were transported to Garnet Medical in Harris, NY. Basir Amin was pronounced deceased. Nasrin Amin and Afrid Haider are both listed in critical condition.

A peaceful Sunday afternoon on a popular lake turns to tragedy in the Catskills.

Emergency personnel on scene say three people were rushed to the hospital after drowning in White Lake.

It happened outside an Airbnb.

Ambulance personnel say an 18 year-old male walked into the lake.

There was a steep drop.

He went under.

His sister and uncle ran into the water to save him.

They both went under, as well, and did not resurface.

Police were called.

Responding officers from the Town of Bethel Police rushed into the water to help.

They say the three victims were in the water for at least 15-minutes before being rescued.

Ambulance workers say the victims required C-P-R before being rushed to the hospital.

No word on their condition at this time.

PRESS RELEASE FROM NEW YORK STATE POLICE ..

Greenburgh, New York – On August 21, 2022, the New York State Police responded to a fatal motor vehicle crash on the Sprain Brook Parkway in the town of Greenburgh.

At approximately 12:34 a.m. Troopers were dispatched to the area of mile marker 7.6 southbound on the Sprain Brook Parkway for a vehicle off the roadway engulfed in flames. Yonkers and Fairview Fire Departments extinguished the flames and extricated the operator and sole occupant. Greenburgh Paramedics attempted life-saving measures but unfortunately pronounced the victim, Gavion P. Singleton, age 22, of Bronx, NY, deceased at the scene.

Initial investigation found Singleton was operating a 2017 Dodge Durango southbound on the Sprain Brook Parkway and left the roadway for unknown reasons. The Durango struck a guiderail then a utility pole before striking another section of guiderail and catching on fire.

This investigation remains ongoing.

PRESS RELEASE FROM TOWN OF WALLKILL POLICE DEPARTMENT ..
On Sunday, August 14, 2022 at 5:36 pm, officers from this Department responded to a report of a motor vehicle collision at 495 Schutt Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim, a 26 year old, male, New Windsor NY resident, lying on the ground unconscious and unresponsive. Officers immediately began life saving measures including CPR. The victim was transported to the Garnet Health Medical Center by Town of Wallkill Emergency Medical Services where he was pronounced deceased. Additionally, a second victim, a 25 year old, female, Middletown NY resident, with a laceration to her right leg, was transported to the Garnet Health Medical Center by Town of Wallkill Ambulance Corps for treatment. A third victim, a 32 year old, male, Middletown, NY resident was treated at Garnet Health Medical Center.
According to witnesses, the deceased male victim was operating a motorcycle that struck the rear of a sedan. The female victim was a passenger of a second motorcycle operated by a 32 year old, male, Middletown NY resident, that struck the rear of a pick up truck. The investigation by Town of Wallkill Police Department Detectives into the accident is ongoing and the Department is being assisted by the Orange County District Attorney’s Office and the New York State Police.

PRESS RELEASE FROM NEW YORK STATE POLICE ..


Newburgh, NY - On Friday, August 26, 2022, at about 7:00 p.m., State Police responded to a report of an assault that occurred on a bus traveling southbound on I-87, in the town of Newburgh.

The commercial bus was traveling from Albany to New York City, with approximately 30 passengers on board when a physical altercation began between two male passengers. The bus pulled over onto the shoulder at mile marker 60.1, where Troopers responded and were assisted by the Town of Newburgh Police.

Both males sustained injuries as a result of the fight, one of which is the suspect who is in custody at this time. The victim was treated on the scene for non-life-threatening injuries.

All lanes remained open during the incident and there is no impact on Thruway traffic in the area at this time. The investigation is ongoing and more information will be released as it becomes available.

TOWN OF POUGHKEEPSIE POLICE PRESS RELEASE ..
On Sunday, August 14, 2022, at or about 07:30 hours, this agency responded to Dutchess Turnpike (State Route 44) near the intersection of Cherry Hill Drive for a report of a car-pedestrian auto accident. The collision itself occurred in the crosswalk on Dutchess Turnpike just west of Cherry Hill Drive. Through the preliminary investigation, it was learned a thirty-one year old male pedestrian, Poughkeepsie resident, had sustained life-threatening injuries as a result of the crash. The vehicle involved was a Chevrolet Cruze sedan being operated by a sixty-nine year old female, Poughkeepsie resident.
The Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department was assisted by the Arlington Fire Department, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office, and the Mobile Life Support Services.
The Traffic Enforcement Division was summoned to the location to initiate a reconstruction analysis.
Dutchess Turnpike was shut down between Janet Drive (entrance to Canterbury Plaza) and the east entrance to Adams Fairacre Farms for the initial investigation. The roadway was opened back up at 12:10 hours.
This investigation is ongoing and the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department is asking any witnesses that observed the crash to contact the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department Traffic Division at 845-485-3680.

Serious crash involving at least three vehicles, one was a mini school bus late Friday afternoon.
Rt. 9 northbound, just before Myers Corners Road.
Reportedly this all started as some kind of bank robbery and chase in the Town of Fishkill.
Police have not confirmed the circumstances leading up to this crash.
One vehicle .. a BMW sedan went off the road and down an embankment.
No word if any kids were on the school bus.
Also no word on how seriously anybody was hurt.
