3 tips for telling stories with AI tools.
I've created several video stories using AI tools. Every time exploring different workflows and tools that could help me tell a better story, save time creating it or overall find a new way to express it.
1. Make your life easy.
As a video storyteller, my workflow has several layers of creation.
The main ones being: Script writing, Voiceover/talking head, Music, B-roll/stock footage, animations, Sound Effects.
With the development of AI tools, several of these layers can be replaced with AI.
Most notably for me - Stock footage, Animation, Music & Voiceover.
For this video, I used Midjourney (images), Uberduck (voice over) & Aiva (music). Making my life easier as much as possible.
2. This is not magic.
You don't press a button and things happen. That's not how it works. Yet.
All these tools are still developing. They have glitches, distortions and imperfections.
You can observe this with the voiceover in this video. It has noticable imperfections.
You still need to put in time to create the vision you have in your mind and do manual work.
3. You can do more than you think you can.
Seriously. The advancement of these technology is extremely rapid. You might think AI can't assist in your workflow and you might very well be wrong. Keep an open mind. Explore possibilities of these rising new tools and follow tip number 1 -- make your life easy.

How I combine different AI tools to create:
A while ago I created a comic book style animation.
I had a story I wanted to tell, so I combined different tools to do it.
I wrote a story a few weeks ago that really spoke to me. I wanted to give it more life again.
I used Midjourney to create the images.
In the past, I would outsource this part of my creation process. Having a tool that can help me execute the images in my mind allows me to save a lot of time an money.
LeiaPix to create the lightfield animations.
These type of animations are not complex. In the past, I would separate the image into different layers in Photoshop and animate them in After Effects. Having a tool that automates this process saves me A LOT of time. I literally uploaded an image, adjusted a few settings and I was done. I don't have as much control as if I did it manually though.
Play.ht for human sounding voiceover.
For my previous project I used uberduck. It worked well for more abstract and stylized voices. For this one I wanted a human voice. In the past I would record it myself. With this tool, I have a wider choice of voices and speech patterns.
Runway & After Effects for final video edits.
Final touch of manual work to add personal feelings and create a flow that invokes the feelings I want. Animating the images, adding music, voiceover, sound effects.
