After some deliberation, one of our own decided to team up with a rival ECRS team to tackle the 12 hours of Sebring. Imperial Motorsports drivers Thomas Gould, and Brad Haldane let Chris Downing strap into their Dallara P217 prototype to help manage it through the grueling 12 hour endurance race. Thomas qualified the car in p3 and by the 2 hour mark had almost a whole lap on 2nd place. After each driver had made it through their first stint the lead was 1 and a half laps and the car saw its first mishap. Netcode with another car caused major damage and after getting it fixed Thomas jumped in and came out in 3rd almost a whole lap behind the leader, 2 hours later he handed the car to Downing back in the lead with over a lap on second place! Downing extended the lead to a full two laps on second place with 2 hours to go. Brad Haldane jumped in and maintained the massive lead until a minor incident caused by slower traffic caused some damage that significantly slowed the car. With a total team effort, Thomas crossed the line 28 seconds ahead of 2nd place to bring home the win, the first official endurance win for all three drivers!! 🏁

Thursday night Wheelman Motorsports took on the Atlanta motor speedway in the ECRS Phil's Towing truck series. After starting 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, Chris Downing, Mike Jamieson, and Kyle Westwood were contenders the whole race, and combined to lead 90 of the 100 laps! Mike and Chris were on a fuel saving strategy and Kyle and Miguel Zepeda were on the short pit strategy. Miguel ran into issues and finished 27th. Mike Jamieson ran out of fuel off turn 4 coming to the checkered flag but held on for his second win of the season, Downing was running 2nd on the last lap and also ran out of turn 4 which allowed Byron Mcdonald and Kyle to slip by at the line and cap off a 1, 3, 4 finish! This vaulted the team over rival Imperial motorsports for the team point lead! Next week were off to Bristol for 120 laps on Checkers and wreckers!
