“17 I appeal to you, brothers, to watch out for those who cause divisions and create obstacles contrary to the doctrine that you have been taught; avoid them. 18 For such persons do not serve our Lord Christ, but their own appetites, and by smooth talk and flattery they deceive the hearts of the naive.”

Romans 16:17-18 (ESV)

“See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. “

1 John 3:1 (ESV)

“There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him: haughty eyes, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans, feet that make haste to run to evil, a false witness who breathes out lies, and one who sows discord among brothers. “

Proverbs 6:16-19 (ESV)

“But false prophets also arose among the people, just as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Master who bought them, bringing upon themselves swift destruction. And many will follow their sensuality, and because of them the way of truth will be blasphemed. And in their greed they will exploit you with false words. Their condemnation from long ago is not idle, and their destruction is not asleep.”

2 Peter 2:1-3 (ESV)

I spread out my hands all the day to a rebellious people, who walk in a way that is not good, following their own devices;

Isaiah 65:2

“…..to another prophecy, to another the ability to distinguish between spirits….”

1 Corinthians 12:10 (ESV)

It would be better for the gift of prophecy to lie dormant in The Church, rather than having Prophecy without discernment.

“29 Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others weigh what is said. “

1 Corinthians 14:29 (ESV)

“20 Do not despise prophecies, 21 but test everything; hold fast what is good.”

1 Thessalonians 5:20–21 (ESV):

“15 He who walks righteously and speaks uprightly, who despises the gain of oppressions, who shakes his hands, lest they hold a bribe, who stops his ears from hearing of bloodshed and shuts his eyes from looking on evil, 16 he will dwell on the heights; his place of defense will be the fortresses of rocks; his bread will be given him; his water will be sure. “

Isaiah 33:15–16 (ESV)

3 You keep him in perfect peace
whose mind is stayed on you,
because he trusts in you.
4 Trust in the Lord forever,
for the Lord God is an everlasting rock.

Isaiah 26:3–4 (ESV)

22 Then a demon-oppressed man who was blind and mute was brought to him, and he healed him, so that the man spoke and saw. 23 And all the people were amazed, and said, “Can this be the Son of David?”

Matthew 12:22–23 (ESV):

Notice tha Jesus didn’t proclaim Himself as The Son of God to the masses. His works revealed to others who He was. They came to a reasonable conclusion: “Can this be the Son of David?”

Likewise, we shouldn’t have to proclaim ourselves as children of God for people to know who we are.

We aren’t saved by our works, but our works should show others that we are saved.

27 “But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, 28 bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you.

Luke 6:27–28 (ESV)
