Multi-talented artist promotes sport
BIZANA-born singer and songwriter Fundile Guqa, who goes by the stage name Furah Dread, has been training children in his home village of KwaNdunge, Bizana, to become future footballers.
His football team called Fura FC is being trained to participate in the local league games set to start before the end of the year.
His U13 boys will return to the training field during school holidays, and the senior group is training to prepare for the league.
“I started the football club to keep young boys off the streets after school and during school holidays. I also want young boys to be developed through football,” he added.
He has been singing reggae music since 2017. His debut single track Smoking was released in 2017 to discourage the abuse of drugs by youngsters.
His other popular track, I was a prisoner, was released in 2019, while People Must Stop was released in 2020 and Heart is Smart was also released that same year. The songs were released to condemn gender-based violence and other prevalent forms of abuse in the world.
During September, he said he will be training school children in acting as a way of developing local talent.
