Celebrating Earth Day with a spotlight on a few black environmentalist you need to know. 🌎

The Black Feminist Project is a nonprofit organization created to assist and advocate for minority women within the community. Tanya Denise Fields was inspired to create a difference and implement opportunities for women of color.

Intersectional Environmentalist recognizes making a change in both the environment and the community. Minorities are subjected to environmental injustices such as contaminated drinking water, poor housing conditions, heavily polluted environments, and more. IE connects those with local organizations to learn more and give a platform to those of the community.

The Ron Finley Project is a organization created to educate the community on nutrition, gardening, and giving back to the community. The “Gangsta Gardner”, Ron Finley, also host seminars on opportunities that gardening has to offer and encourages the people to go out and start their gardens.

Wawa Gatheru started Black Girl Environmentalist to start an sisterhood for black-girl environmentalist. Gatheru realized the lack of representation for women of color in the industry. The platform was created to recognize and connect those who seek the need for change in our community.
