🐾This is a hiking holiday I took with Samba a couple of years back in the mountains of Montseny, just off the west coast of Barcelona.

🐾It has some of the highest mountains with an altitude of 1,712m.

🐾Being so high up, the temperature drops considerably, and during summer time it feels more like a spring day, which makes it the perfect get away to escape the soaring temperatures on the lower terrain.

The Pine Processionary (Thaumetopoea pityocampa) is a type of Caterpillar. It eaten it can be dangerous for humans, and can be toxic for children and animals, i.e. dog, cats, ferrets!

They have urticating hairs which can cause allergic reactions leading to swelling in the area of the mouth.

In the most serious cases, they might lose part of the tongue and lips, or even suffer asphyxia.

Be vigilant with your pet!

Shiva such a people friendly, loving and fun dog! She lost the front leg after a dog attack, but it does not bother her! She just gets on with it and can walk absolutely fine. Now she is in urgent need of a foster home of a forever home. Please share this post to your groups and your friends and help SHIVA!
