Hi friends! Long time no talk! If you haven’t been following my Instagram, you may not know that I’ve been living in a stationary RV AirBnB for the last few weeks in southern Cali! This is so I can be closer to my long-distance partner, whose small business is located in the area. It’s been so cool trying out RV life - a lot more spacious than my van (but still have to empty the grey/black water tanks every week) YUM! We even hiked to the Hollywood sign 😍 (see pics for the amazing shot I got…..😂)

🥂CHEERS🥂 to the end of my first renting season! 16 renters and 6 months later, I earned back 63% of how much I initially spent on my van + build. That's a lot of 6's...? Perfect timing - the last booked renters had the van this weekend which also ended up being Utah's first freeze/snow. The renters ended up extending their rental for a night since the high- elevation passes got snow and they didn't want to push their luck- very glad I just put brand spankin new tires on the van. Also my cue to maaaybe call it the end of the season for my van because it isn't a winter van. It just ain't. Turned down renters who wanted to take it out in January 😳 - unless I relocate it to a warmer climate?! We'll see 😎🔥

PS - these were the renters with two dogs and I'm so pleased with how they returned the van! No big messes, even less fur than I expected. Can't stress enough the importance of "reading" your renters and getting a judge of their character - I think that's the most effective way to filter out the renters who aren't going to treat your van with the respect it deserves 💅

*PETS IN VANS* So I have potentially my last renter for the season and...drum roll...they are bringing two puppos with them. I decided to allow renters to bring pets, but surprisingly this is the first renter to actually do it! After having my kitty Ernie in my van, I KNOW how fur works its way into EVERYTHING. But doggos are a whole 'notha level (in my mind lol). So... FELLOW VAN FRIENDS WITH DOGS: any tips on how to minimize the potential fur / doggo love left behind in the van?! Any and all tips welcome 🤗

Something I've thought a lot about lately is: how can you tell the difference between when your intuition is telling you something vs your fear? When a new opportunity is presented to you and your stomach flips - is that intuition telling you it's the wrong move? Or just fear of trying something new that actually excites you? I struggle so hard trying to tell the difference sometimes. I've heard that when it's intuition, it feels light. When you think about this new opportunity, your most natural instinct is light and hopeful feeling. But when it's fear, your most natural instinct is heavier and anxiety-inducing.

And while I don't believe anything is ever the "wrong" path in life, I just mean decisions that take you further from being your purest self. Decisions that derail you from feeling as fulfilled as possible.

For example, when I built out my van I moved back to my parents house for almost 6 months. My inner negative voice was telling me I was "just another millennial" who wanted "wanderlust" and to "escape adulting". I felt very lost and unsure of if this van thing would help me overcome whatever was eating at me. I also wasn't even sure the van would ever be done...my point is that I made myself unnecessarily stressed during those 5 months letting anxiety eat at me, when really it was my intuition leading me to a more fulfilled life.

I feel like a poser posting this photo because I haven't traveled full-time in the van since the beginning of the year. But also...who cares? Why does that matter? 🤷 How do you tell the difference between fear and intuition?

Was it something about my listing? 💅 I'm noticing a trend on who is renting out my van....WOMEN!!! LOTS OF WOMEN!!! LIKE 90% WOMEN!!! AND I FREAKING LOVE IT. For a lot of reasons. Not that I have anything against men renting it out. But when passing off the van, I just feel a sense of unspoken sisterhood. Some of these women have been traveling solo for years. Others are brand new - in any case, it feels amazing knowing I'm helping them pursue exploration and independence 💋💞 the last woman to rent my van used to be an EMT driver - once driving OVER TWO HOURS with sirens ON to get a child to a specific hospital. Can only imagine listening to those sirens for over two hours 🙃 another woman was attending a FULL week of retreat that included 8 HOURS of meditation A DAY. It was to support her daughter-in-law of becoming a Zen priest 😮. What badass chicas. Cool stuff going on out there.
