Anyone trying to watch Kamala being interview on FOX? Absolutely disgusting - I'm watching online and they have captions below her delegating everything she is saying. And Baer is interrupting her and trying to lead her down a dark alley and she is hanging in. You go, Kamala! This is the most dirty, interview possible - absolutely disgusting!

Well, I think we have our answer.

The sign - see below - that was on my front lawn was stolen tonight. I don't think is was taken by someone who stood for Kamala Harris. Makes one even more secure in the knowledge that the other candidate is not the person who is the better example for our children.

We don't teach our children to steal.

Something to think about if you are on the fence:

I've been told lately that I have not given enough time to care for myself; play, rest, exercise, chill. Not sure what that looks like for my life is so filled (and happily but, at times, stressfully so) with care for others.

Question of the day: What do YOU do to break the cycle and take time for yourself. How do YOU allow yourself to breathe? Can you try to do so today? Tomorrow? And as often as possible?

I awoke this morning to the most beautiful sight - sun, and blue sky, and I could feel the warmth and gentle breeze of early spring. It was glorious (still is) and I took little Murray (my four-legged daughter) for a walk; Grinning and savoring the gift of today.

And then, a couple approached me - also obviously delighting in the weather we have been given today. But when I made mention of this glorious day, their response was, "But it is going to be raining Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday"
Me, being me, had to counter with, "Ah, then it will be lovely Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday."

Why do we have such difficulty finding the light in situations rather than focusing on the dark? Let's all try to look deeply into them and focus, instead, on that glimmer of hope.

This is the latest post I have received from our intrepid Stroke Across America cyclists:

Welcome to Mountain Time
Day 16 – rest day in Missoula
Completed to date: 710 miles and 27,500 feet of climbing

Two days ago we entered Mountain Time - literally when we crossed the border from Idaho into Montana and lost an hour; and figuratively as we climbed 5,233 foot Lolo Pass – almost 4k feet in one day with no downhill til the last 5 miles.

We’ve enjoyed getting to know our summer interns this past week, Alex Rubin and Emily Talkow, who will be with us for the rest of the journey. They will be helping to collect the photo and video footage, sharing updates on social media, and supporting both the in-person and virtual events. Both student athletes at Washington University, St. Louis, they are bringing a wonderful energy to the group.

The journey of life, stroke recovery, and this ride are all about flexibility and this week was no exception. We had to take the RV in for service to make sure it would start properly(!). So we flexed from our planned campgrounds to hotels for a few nights until the RV was back and ready to go.

We’re thrilled that another stroke survivor has joined the journey. Michael Obel-Omia arrived in Missoula Wednesday, joined us for the last 12 miles yesterday, and is now along for the duration. Look forward to getting to know this amazing survivor, person with aphasia, and published poet in the weeks ahead.

The Stroke Across America riders have completed their first full week of riding - 380 miles down and about 4,000 to go. As they make their way through Oregon and into central Washington State, they’ve enjoyed watching the transition from the lush green of coastal Oregon into a more arid environment. Their legs are tired, but everyone is holding up well enjoying meeting folks along they way as they bring much needed information about stroke, aphasia and helping survivors as they rebuild their identity.

For those of us who can’t be out on the road with them, there is a Virtual Stroke Across America program – for information please contact me and I will share that info with you.

And for those of us who iive along the route, please watch for the gang to bring a program; an event; information to you.
Right now these events are planned for:
• Friday June 3 - Missoula, MT
• Tuesday, June 14 - Jackson, WY
• Friday, June 24 - Boulder, CO
• Sunday, June 25 - Denver, CO

Sharing her voice
Elizabeth Bonker has nonspeaking autism, a type of autism that severely affects communication abilities. However, when she gave the commencement speech at Rollins College in Florida as one of five graduating valedictorians, she was heard loud and clear. Using a text-to-speech program, Bonker urged her fellow graduates to live a life of service, just like Rollins' most famous graduate, Mister Rogers. Bonker said because she cannot talk, she is often dismissed or minimized. Technology has opened up new opportunities for her to share her amazing brain, and she dreams of living a life in service to others like her. By her estimate, there are approximately 31 million people with nonspeaking autism around the world, just waiting to share their voice. "We are all called to serve as an everyday act of humility; as a habit of mind; to see the worth in every person we serve," she said.
