I finally created that “Wheel of Destiny” animation that I have wanted to do for a long time! Inside the 3D-model inspired by Flip Circus with a wheel based on the one Duo Vanegas use, this was a fun one to make! Enjoy!

In the 3D model inspired by Zirkus Charles Knie by Sascha Melnjak I just finished installing all the lights💡and the water 💦 fountains into the 3D-model.
The plan is to create a full light and water show and render it in high quality 4K, but until then check out this short teaser video!

Before I import the 3D models into the lighting software they look like this. I add as much detail to the model as is needed to create photorealistic images when lights, smoke and other effects are added. In the lighting software I also change all the basic materials to PBR material that has more texture and reacts more naturally to the lights.

This 3D model has 1281 individual seats. I had to go in make low-poly versions of them because they made the lighting program very slow. Now, with the amount of polygons reduced it should be ready to shine again!

When I created this model I was heavily inspired by Théâtre Circulaire which has a beautiful dome made up of 24 quarter-circle wooden support beams. The diameter of the structure is ⌀12. Inside I imagined fully-circled grandstand with 4 rows with wheelchair access on all three entrances. The center stage is ⌀4.5.

Almost finished modelling the main big top and interior of Cirque Nicolas Bouglione. Only the artist entrance remains to be done. This is a commissioned project ordered from the direction of the circus so I have access to all the necessary blueprints and measurements which makes the model almost 100% accurate down to the smallest detail. I’m so excited to put this model into the lighting software to really make it shine!!

Last week we collaborated with Clown Tonito to create a 3D-model of his Circus Schööön.

Tonito basically gave Big Top Models the freedom to ‘create something amazing that puts my tent in a great light that makes people want to come to my circus!’

To optimise the number of seats in a small tent, and to make everybody in the audience see well it is a good idea to use a raised stage in the center of the big top. Cirkus Baldoni in Denmark, Cirque Helvetia in Switzerland are among the few small circuses who have understood that this is the best solution to avoid complaints from people sitting further back in the audience.. Big Top Models wish more smaller circus would follow this trend ;)

Here's the 3D model inspired by Cirkus Arena presented in a quick video. The model took 18 hours of work in Sketchup Pro to finish, and 3 hours in Capture 2024 to add realistic materials and lighting. This model was not by commissioned by the direction of Cirkus Arena, but is purely a fan-based model based on photos of the real circus so a few details and dimensions might not be 100% accurate.

Elmar Kretz Weihnachtscircus Ravensburg expands their seating for this year, and has asked Big Top Models to modify the existing 3D-model we made of the grandstand two years ago to reflect the new changes. Check it out!
