Thoughts moving forward. I have very little time today, unless I come out later this evening (which I might!). But I’ll pick up a couple things from town that will hopefully put us on the right track.

I sometimes have a tendency to jump to an extreme before considering the smaller steps that could work and be enough. I may give the impression of being patient but sometimes I just want the fast fix. I’m usually impatient when I can’t clearly see the path forward, and just want to try anything. So I’ll reset and refocus and try to exercise more patience. I’ll double check all the studs while I’m at it. Seems like a pretty good time to do that.

Let’s talk paint strippers for a minute.

The non-methylene chloride paint strippers available to me are very ineffective. If I use them I end up needing multiple applications, which means more time. I’ll also need double the product, which is more money spent. Consumables for stripping paint are cheap, and I can get to the same result in less time and with less money spent.
•
Someone with a commercial or industrial use license may still be able to access paint strippers with methylene chloride, but unfortunately I’m not one of them. Maybe there are some professionals out there who can fill me in?
•
Bottom line is I wish I could use a paint stripper that is as effective as they were pre-2018. But we are living in a post-2018 world where in Canada I just can’t get them anymore.

Passenger side door - seals will change some things. As will getting it bolted to the chassis and all the glass in. But that’s why we keep fitting as we go. I think we can agree that at this stage of the fit up we are looking really good!!

The bottom of the quarter panel is sticking out just a touch. I think I can push that in about ⅛-¼” just to make it a bit more consistent with the door. I’m still thinking about that.

Drivers side door has a bit more to think about. The door is in a little bit of rough shape from a collision (I’m guessing) and the quarter panel was replaced but just a bit high so some lines aren’t looking quite as nice.

BTW, these are all things that could’ve been done better had I been more diligent with fitting all pieces together at once while replacing panels. Haha, but I’m still learning those lessons. I thought I knew until I found out I didn’t. Now I know.

Having a look at this quarter panel and wheel well. One area around the fender bolt hole is going to need some attention. Everywhere else is looking good. And “good” is a relative term, when dealing with metal that is this old.

So I’ve been highly distracted this morning with other things and I haven’t even got to welding yet.

The main thing is that I have the replacement front clip. I know some may not like it, and say I should’ve got an OG clip from a donor car. Yes, you’re right. I wish that was the case. And no, I’m not cutting up Fender for this part.

I gave it a shot and chased down a couple leads that didn’t pan out as I wanted them to. I don’t want the front clip to delay things, so I went with a repop. We will make this work and it will be fantastic in the end. I haven’t don’t a complete hack job of anything yet, and I don’t intend to on the clip. Stay tuned for that!
