CPANHS RADIO BROADCASTING TEAM MAKES A BREAKTHROUGH

The curse is finally broken!

TAPAZ, CAPIZ - Illustrados English Radio Broadcasting Team broke into tears as they got on stage to receive their unexpected awards during the Division Schools Press Conference for Secondary Level last May 21, 2023 at Capiz National High School.

CPANHS have been competing in the Radio Broadcasting English and Filipino categories for 6 years but never once entered among the top teams.

However, their fate finally changed when they were declared as the top 5 Best Team Overall as well as Best in Infomercial.

"It was surreal and overwhelming. I'm happy that all of our preparations and tranings paid off," said Jason Guyala, anchor and leader of the team.

"It was really unbelievable knowing that there were a lot of great teams out there. I cried when I called my father telling him that we won," said Angela Gequillo, news presenter and infomercial singer.

The team jumped for joy and excitement for that historical moment.

"I was really trying hard to stop my tears from falling while we were on stage. Finally, after six years, we made it!" said Stephen Gialogo, the team's coach.

Although they will not be going for the regionals since only the 1st placer gets that privilege, it was still a victory well-deserved to be celebrated.

CPANHS SECURES SPOT IN DSPC

Road to the regionals!

TAPAZ, CAPIZ - Two aspiring student journalists made it to be among the top contenders in certain categories during the Division Schools Press Conference that was held last May 21, 2023 for the secondary level.

Esha Mariel Ferasol captured the 4th place in News Writing English with Miss Rosielyn Gustilo as her coach (First photo).

"It's my first time to join campus journalism so I was not really expecting to win. I just did my best and I'm grateful that God blessed me this time," said Esha.

Esha was quite worried after finishing her work.

"I checked her draft and I was happy that she was able to apply all my teachings. I told her to trust herself because I believe that she has a remarkable attitude as a journalist," said Coach Rosielyn.

Meanwhile, Elijah Peneche also got 4th place in Science Feature Writing with her coach Sir Niel Ibañez. (Second photo)

Esha and Elijah are both Grade 11 STEM students of Col. Patrocinio Artuz National High School.

They will be competing for the Regional Schools Press Conference this coming June in Iloilo City.

TRUST GOD'S PLAN

Netflix and Kdrama out, focus on review in.

TAPAZ, CAPIZ - Still dreamy and baffled, Florebel Gabayaran repeatedly checked on the website that posted the results of the Licensure Examinations for Teachers which occurred last March 19, 2023 if her name was actually written on it.

Florebel graduated Magna Cum Laude and is a DOST scholar at West Visayas State University Iloilo.

"I did not go online in my social media account the night before the exam so that I can avoid reading messages which could put pressure on me and give me insomnia" she said.

During the exam day, she recalled some superstitions that most exam takers do but she did not follow any of them.

This caused her to be anxious afterwards.

When the results came out, she could not believe her eyes upon seeing her name on the list.

Although she passed, she was not able to be one in the top 10.

Regardless, she was still thankful for the blessing.

"I was quite disappointed that I did not make it to the top 10, but maybe I did not give my best. Lesson learned, I should have focused more on my review rather than in Netflix and Kdramas," she said.

All her sleepless nights and struggles finally came into fruition.

Florebel is currently working as a provisional Special Science Teacher at Roxas Farm School in Tapaz.

GOD ANSWERS PRAYERS

TAPAZ, CAPIZ - Despite some unexpected mistakes during the board exams, Charme Kate Grate made it to the list of new Licensed Professional Teachers.

Charme had to balance work and review so that she can support herself while trying hard not to miss out on her lectures in preparation for the board exams scheduled last March 19 ,2023.

"Kapoy ko halin sa ubra pero kinahanglan magdiretcho sa eskwelahan para magreview. Gakatulugan na ko kis-a kag gabugtaw lang kung matest na.(Even though I'm tired from work, I had to proceed to our school for the review. Sometimes I would even fall asleep and wake up when the tests start.)," she said in a translation.

Her faith was tested when she had a mistake in writing her name on her brown envelope. She tried to look for a store that might be selling one, but to no avail.

She prayed hard and asked God's help in order for her to be able to take the exams. She passed by two churches and prayed on each of them.

"One of my classmates saw my situation and gave me an extra envelope," she said.

With God's grace, she was able to take the exam.

Low-key but manifesting, Charme's prayers were finally granted when the results came out with her name written on it.

DETERMINATION CONQUERS ALL

TAPAZ, CAPIZ - Poverty was not a hindrance for Decemae C. Geromiano in achieving her long time goal of becoming a Licensed Professional Teacher.

Decemae graduated in Bachelor of Elementary Education as cm laude at West Visayas State University Calinog and passed the Licensure Examinations for Teachers held last March 19,2023.

"Pigado ako pero mataas akon handom nga maging maestra para makatudlo sa mga kabataan kag para man makabulig sa akon pamilya.(I am poor but I have a big dream of becoming a teacher so that I could teach children and help my family as well.)," she said in a translation.

Lack of financial support was the biggest obstacle for her as she struggled everyday to provide her needs.

"Kaagi nga 500 lang akon kwarta sa isa ka bulan. Ginbulos-bulos ko lang ang bihon kag sardinas para makasurvive kay kung ayaw may dahilan pero kung gustohon mo may ara gid paraan.( I experience having only 500 pesos for a monthly allowance. I had to eat bihon and sardines everyday just to survive because if you don't want something, you'll always find excuses. But if you really want something, you will surely find a way.)," she said in a translation.

She was always exhausted and stressed in her reviews and other personal matters.

There was a time that she attempted to stop reviewing because she could no longer pay for it.

However, with her prayers and determination, she was able to fullfil her lifelong wish of becoming a certified teacher.

SILENT BUT MOVING

TAPAZ, CAPIZ - Lack of time for review, busy days for work, and other personal pressures did not stop Khenlyn Flores Celendro from passing the Licensure Examinations for Teachers that occurred last March 19, 2023.

The latest passers are the pioneers of the new exam curriculum. Khenlyn was really surprised when she saw the results as she was not expecting it due to many conflicts.

"Nangayo lang gid ako sign kay God kung makuha gid man ako exam or kung ihatag nya gid man sa akon ang lisensya. (I asked signs from God if I should take the exam or if He will grant me the license.)," she said in a translation.

While other examinees have enrolled in review centers and are reviewing seriously, Khenlyn on the other hand had to focus more on her job. She could only review for a short time at night and sometimes none at all.

"Bisan sin-o mamangkot kung makuha ako exam, ginadeny ko lang kay galikaw ako sa disappointment. Maskin pamilya ko wala kabalo nga gin risk ko lang akon ubra para makakuha exam. Pero maskin alone ako sa akon journey, ginbless gid ako. (I would often deny whenever someone asks if I will be taking the board exams to avoid disappointments. Even my own family did not know that I just risked my job in order to take the exam. I was still blessed even though I was alone in my journey.)," she said in a translation.

Overwhelmed and uncertain as to what will be the next step in her life, Khenlyn, now a Licensed Professional Teacher, could only pray to God that He will take her to whatever plans He has for her.
