During the recent dialogue with meat and fish vendors, along with other concerned government officials, Mayor Joey Suan emphasized the importance of an organized public market in the local economy.
In a bid to promote economic growth and unity among vendors, he encouraged the fish and meat sellers to relocate their businesses inside the market. Moreover, those currently operating outside were urged to return to the public market, as long as they follow the proper procedure.
"Para sa organisado nga public market san bungto, gin-aaghat ko an mga meat and fish vendors na sa sulod san merkado magtinda. Kamo po nga naghali ngan nasa luwas niyan, gin-aaghat ko gud na bumalik sa merkado, kay bisan san-o, basta magsunod sa proseso, welcome man kamo", said Mayor Joey.
Underscoring the significance of an organized market system, Mayor Joey highlighted that it does not only support the local economy but also contributes to various developmental projects in the town. He reiterated the need for collective efforts to ensure continuous progress.
"An sugad sini na sistema sa ato merkado, dako gud an bulig sa lokal na ekonomiya san ato bungto, ngan nakakabulig para sa mga durudilain nga proyekto. Magkasarayo kunta kita para sini na maupay nga katuy-anan, para sa padayon nga progreso san bungto san Allen", Mayor Joey added.
With this call to action, despite the absence of some illegal meat and fish vendors in the recent dialogue, Mayor Joey remains hopeful in uniting all stakeholders in the pursuit of common goalsโthe general welfare and the continuous development of the entire town.
READ: The Local Government Unit of Allen released an official statement regarding the recent incidents of confiscation of fish products from the vendors who failed to secure the required business permits.
"The Local Government Unit (LGU) of Allen would like to address the recent incident of confiscation of fish products from vendors who failed to secure business permits from the LGU. It is important to clarify that the vendors in question did not submit their complete documents as requirements for the issuance of the permit, as per records from the LGUโs Business Permit and Licensing Office (BPLO). So, the claim that the Mayor's Office neglected the application is unfounded since there was no application in existence to begin with.
Our Sanitary Inspector has observed that these vendors have repeatedly failed to meet the standards set forth by the Sanitary Code, which establishes regulations to promote and protect public health by ensuring proper sanitation practices in various settings.
Despite being warned and advised multiple times, they have remained firm in their refusal to comply with the necessary regulations. Furthermore, the National Meat Inspection Services (NMIS) has brought to the attention of the LGUs the matter of sanitation concerning these vendors.
Similarly, the Mayor, through the BPLO, provided them with an opportunity to have a place at the Market, but they declined, citing personal reasons.
We also take this opportunity to notify the public that the alleged excesses in the confiscation are currently under investigation. Any violation found will be dealt with accordingly, ensuring that proper procedures are followed and appropriate measures are taken.
In the pursuit of fairness and giving everyone the chance to be better informed, the Office of the Mayor invites all concerned parties to a dialogue on Monday, July 10, 2023, 1:30 in the afternoon at the SB Session Hall. Resource persons, specifically lawyers from the Provincial Legal Office, will be present to provide insight into the intricacies and importance of securing business and sanitary permits.
The LGU of Allen acknowledges the importance of maintaining the overall health and safety of our community. We firmly believe that adherence to the necessary permits and regulations is crucial in ensuring the well-being of our residents and visitors.
We urge all stakeholders to participate in this dialogue and take this opportunity to gain a better understanding of the requirements and implications involved in obtaining business permits. By working together, we can foster a safe, more thriving, and compliant business environment in the municipality."
