As many of us here, I have grown up listening to music, to a wide range of genres and styles. But it took me many – many – years to perceive myself as a DJ, to finally understand that DJing is just as legitimate as playing an instrument, composing, singing or producing. Since then, I have not only focused on developing my DJing skills but also exploring electronic music with no boundaries, from seminal genres to the newer and hyped styles.
It must be said, however, that the acid tunes caught my attention from the very first time I actually heard and felt them. So I guess this is how I define myself: an ever-learning DJ that drifts within the wide spectrum of electronic music, frequently propelled by acid waves and their downstream release of dopamine and endorphin.

To wrap up the month of June, we’d like to welcome João Kr (), who makes his return to the radio today.

Own words: “In a frenetic and troubled world where monotony is present, we end up leaving aside or even oppressing certain emotions and feelings.

This mix is meant to make you feel, whether it’s joy, sadness, nostalgia, lightness, whatever, just feel it and let yourself be carried away.

Coming up next, it’s our pleasure to announce the comeback of João Kr (), with one mix coming out this month.

João Kr is a DJ from Curitiba and one of the creators of the Porão Collective (). His love for art and especially music is passed on to the dance floor through his timeless and differentiated research.

With references from the 80s to this present day, his performances include lots of house, techno, disco, jazz, funky, as well as “crazy stuff” as he calls it.

Not sticking to genres, João moves between introspective and euphoric atmospheres, getting to the point of how a sound wave inexplicably provides different sensations, showing the power that music has.

Own words: “First of all, being invited by Quiet Place Radio to present my debut residency was incredible. I was very happy with the invitation and I feel I fulfilled my role with the two mixes that were recorded. My selections usually present a lot of me, especially when it comes to Footwork, I feel I can express myself so well that it’s like a poetic license to be able to convey so much through it, and not just with Footwork but also with Breaks, Jungle, Drum n Bass and so on. I hope you enjoy both mixes, it was great to be able to record them for you! :)”

PURPLEHELLCATT began her artistic journey with the AKTS collective, of which she is a member, with research into electronic music genres (jungle, drum and bass, garage, footwork, among others) and has been developing her discotheque based on these same genres. She has appeared at events such as Sidechain, Fader and GKS, where she was part of the cast of DJ sets, giving away a lot of her research and techniques to the public. She currently focuses her research on the footwork, juke and jungle that make up her sets.

I got to use some of my all time favorite artists tracks here, with little or no attention at all to beat match and stuff like that. This mix brings me many emotions, some of them are beautiful, some are not, but that’s just life, I guess.”
