🌪️🌪️My review of Twisters🌪️🌪️

Before I give my take, if you go watch this movie thinking it’s a prequel or a sequel, then you will not enjoy it. This is a stand alone movie.

Definitely a must watch!! I’d give it a 9 out of 10 honestly. I can’t wait for it to come out & watch it again.

It’s got its own plot which is nice. Thats how it should be. It does hint to the original film quite a few times if you catch it. The science of Storm Chasing is definitely present along with a good amount of terminology which was nice to hear. The use of actual present day chase vehicles was nice to see.

I really enjoyed the realism of the Tornadoes instead of CGI based.

Yes, there were a handful of times that I didn’t like how they portrayed the good chasers out to be. We don’t cut through fields & don’t intentionally block others while driving like it’s a race to the finish line.

There were a few things from a chasers perspective that I didn’t understand & 1 of them is I didn’t know that we activate strobe lights & light bars during the day.

It does show how events can change in matter of seconds & decisions have to be made instantly when we are chasing.

It does have its own “Hollywood twist” to it which was to be expected. Finally, I did like that they left the ending open. So I’m excited! Glad I got to finally see it & can’t wait for it to come out on DVD.

Thankfully overnight QLCS wasn’t bad. There is a small threat for severe weather including Tornadoes across all of Northeast & East Texas starting around 4-5pm & ending around 2-3am.

28/04/2024

Latest from the most recent Mesoscale Discussion released at 4:11am.

SUMMARY...Strong gusts remain possible across Tornado Watch 156 and 157 in the short term. Overall tornado/severe risk is expected to gradually wane with time/eastward extent the next couple of hours.

DISCUSSION...The intensity of the QLCS slowly progressing east from northwest AR into north TX early this morning has gradually decreased over the past hour, especially north of the Red River. While some strong gusts remain possible, tornado potential is expected to wane over the next 1-2 hours due to weakening instability and less favorable deep-layer shear. Furthermore, radar data suggests outflow may be advancing ahead of the convection at least along some segments of the QLCS. While some strong winds may persist in the short term, downstream watches are not expected.

28/04/2024

Well after seeing what the line has done as it approached Fort Worth. It’s safe to say the atmosphere is still unstable HOWEVER this outflow ahead of the line has helped keep the storms below severe criteria & I’m not 100% sure if the CAP held or not. It appears that it may have. No Severe weather ongoing in North Texas. This line will be loud as it comes in with Heavy Rainfall, winds up to 40-50mph and some Thunder/lightning. Thats the worst it’s going to do. We will wait for tonight’s threat that starts up between 4-6pm in Northeast Texas.

🌞ECLIPSE DAY🌑

North-Central, Northeast & Southeast Texas are in the threat for severe weather. This will be mainly after the eclipse however cloud cover could impact some from seeing the eclipse.

As far as the threats, Large Hail is the main threat(Reason for the enhanced). Tornadoes are also a threat over in portions of Northeast Texas as well as Southeast Texas.

So after the eclipse, be on the lookout as traffic is going to be an issue with a severe weather threat ongoing.

I may or may not be in the field. That is TBD.

01/04/2024

No, this isn’t an April Fools Joke. Today will be a big day in the weather world. I will unfortunately not be out chasing. Here is what to expect & everything you need to know.

Mid 60 dewpoints are expected across much of the warm sector east of the dryline by mid-day today with temperatures warming into the 70s & even low 80s. Moderate to strong instability is expected to develop. Once this occurs, expect rapid storm development along the dryline in North Texas. Very strong shear will support splitting supercells initially capable of large to potentially giant hail across North Texas. Storm evolution(Timing of the event starting)off the dryline is still somewhat uncertain. Some models show more discrete(by itself)development off the dryline & the potential for multiple rounds of supercells, while other models shows nothing until closer to 00z(6pm CDT). This particular evolution will have a significant impact on the longevity of the giant hail threat, but even with a messy storm mode, very large hail will remain a threat.

As far as the Tornado threat, It remains low for North Texas but not out of the question. Low-level shear is expected to be very weak for much of the day, which will limit the tornado threat. However, by the evening, the low-level jet is expected to strengthen & the low-level shear will improve. Therefore, a more favorable period for tornadoes and potentially strong tornadoes may exist from 23-03z(5-9pm CDT)as the low-level shear improves. Especially along the Red River from Wichita Falls to near Gainsville.

These storms will converge into a MCS(Squall Line) as the evening progresses & it will push into Northeast Texas & East Texas as mainly a damaging wind & hail event. Although a Tornado or 2 can’t be ruled out along the leading edge.

Stay Tuned into Lonestar Storm Chasers for continuous updates throughout the day & have a way to get your severe weather alerts. Know your severe weather plans. April is here & this is the middle of Severe Weather Season.

13/03/2024

I’m watching tomorrow’s threat. The MLCAPE is stout across the region. Moisture return is building. The threat of a few tornadoes are possible. Latest model runs show a messy mode with limited possibility for a good tornado. Only problem that I’m seeing is there is potential for the cap to hold. The thing is the models are not in agreement right now with if the cap will hold or not. I’ve seen models show a cap holding and I’ve seen it breaking mid afternoon. So we will see how this pans out. If it pans out like I’m hoping, I may pop out for a small chase in Texas. May post up near the Red River. Stay Tuned.
