[SAVE THE DATE] Mire’s annual festival highlighting an inventive and engaged contemporary analog cinema, interacting with other practices will take place from the 6th to the 10th of december 2023 in Nantes and around (France).

To make up the program of this 6th edition, we are looking for :

🎞recent films shot on celluloid (2020 and later)
💥moving image installations
🎥 expanded cinema performances.

Analogue Resilience coming soon in Toronto!!!

Feb 27—The Liaison of Independent Filmmakers of Toronto (LIFT) is excited to announce that registration for the Film Labs Gathering this May is officially open! Join us in Toronto, Canada from May 25 – 30, 2023 to meet other artist-run labs, collectives, and filmmakers to share with and learn from each other through collaboration and conversation.
The gathering is centered around the theme “Analogue Resilience.” Analogue, to invoke the material qualities of the film medium, as well as an embodied way of working. Resilience, in reference to the continued vitality of this form of filmmaking; and to the community of people whom filmmaking survives through, who continue this practice in contexts and locations in which they encounter resistance.
The film labs gathering will involve a variety of programs, including workshops, discussions and demonstration sessions that registered participants can sign up for during the gathering. All events will be open to registered participants until they reach capacity. Registration for workshops will take place exclusively on-site at LIFT once the gathering has begun.

📣 CALL FOR ENTRIES 📣 Deadline March 31, 2023

Experimental Film Festival Process is open for submissions for its 5th edition which will take place from 17 till 21 May, 2023 in Riga, Latvia.

We welcome submissions of experimental films and expanded cinema performances where analogue (photochemical) film has been a substantial part of the image-making process. We will be prioritizing films in their original formats - 16mm or Super 8mm analogue prints, if available.

This year the theme of the festival is “Noise Spectrum”, thinking about the different shapes of noise as an audial, visual, mental and social phenomenon – a sign that can indicate brutal chaos but also a fearless disruption of an existing violent situation.

Submissions are open until 31st March 2023 via Film Freeway website.
